► Emergency services say it could be two more days before residents of the Derbyshire village of Whaley Bridge are able to return home. They say the broken dam there will continue to pose a risk until three quarters of the water in the reservoir is pumped out.
Meanwhile police have criticised 31 people who are still refusing to leave - saying they're putting lives at risk.

looks like it was built by a 12 year old boy , why wasn't it solid concrete ? I'm not a construction engineer but I do know that that's not constructed right

masonwatcher , they should get a different construction crew this time , and one with some engineering ability , and when in doubt , just keep adding more concrete

water got under it and washed the soil away.

arnold sanders , there shouldn't be any soil to wash away in the first place , it should have been totally solid concrete , it wasn't built right from the start , none of this would be happening now , it would be working just fine
