Show Andrew Ridgeley some love. No jealousy, no hatred, just pure support and love for his school- mate George Michael. A TRUE best friend to the end!!
You guys gotta give Andrew Ridgeley some grace. He and George were homies all the way back to school days and they went at this music thing together. And together they put something hot together in Wham that introduced us to the genius of George Michael. They remained good friends until the day George died. Well done, Andrew. 👍🏾
Andrew was George's best friend since school and George was far too generous a person to sideline Andrew, they were buddies. Andrew also was the one who persuaded George to ditch college and start a band. Andrew was integral to Wham! existing in the first place and George always recognised that in interviews. George was a real force in music.
The way he said it with his WHOLE CHEST and 10 toes down, he meant that from his soul!! His songs seemed personal, like he experienced it himself or, he was conveying the thoughts and feelings of someone he knew who went through it
If it wasn't for Andrew there would be no George it was Andrew that pushed George to start a band he could see the potential in George, it was 98 when he got caught in the toilet but a plain clothed cop it was entrapment but George made the song Out side it was brilliant, George asked Andrew could he do careless whisper as a solo cos he was still with Wham and Andrew did play a part in careless whisper,I'm your man and Edge of Heaven are just 2 great songs of Wham they all are any thing by George would be wonderful
@@xoxxobob61 I didn't have a clue I know he was outed but those cops new what they were doing the photo they used was a year old and yes I agree George new what he was doing as well but he didn't know they were cops they were not in uniform any way I don't care it doesn't take away his music he had an amazing voice and wrote wonderful songs
Andrew is a huge part of wham and its creation he brought George out of his shell and comfort zone and was the one who persuaded George to start a band watch the documentary and see how Andrew impacted the group he had no jealousy just pure loyalty and love for his best friend
Andrew was just as important as George! He WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE GROUP! They were school buddies as well! Don't say he didn't do shit!!There would be no wham without Andrew! Both of them were very much important!!
This video will forever remind me of seeing Wham! live. This concert was the Make It Big tour and the video is dead on what I saw. GM's solo Faith tour I also went to and the video Monkey was dead on as well. I love that I have these to look back on. I hate to say it but every vocal in this song is actually GM. I hate putting that out as we know Andrew wasn't just "there".
My hubby tells me all the time he works for me, 24 yrs later still working for me. You know why, cause I work for him too. Trad wife here, raised our 4 boys, take care of him every way I can. Partnership.
Andrew was the personality of the group. George has said that in many interviews. Yes George was the writer, producer, arranger, of all the music, but he wouldn't have had any of that without Andrew. Seriously. He was wayyyy to shy. George was an amazing person as well. He will always be my idol.
George Michael was the most played artist on British radio for 20 years straight? He had an epic voice with the songwriting skills of a genius. His twenty-five live world tour, a celebration of 25 years in the music business, was beyond spectacular. I went to both concerts. One at Madison Square Gardens and one in washington dc. At that time, he was already mid to late forties, and his voice was flawless. George was known to have one of the best voices. He last toured all over Europe, singing in the most prestigious opera house backed by Symphony orchestra. This resulted in a standing ovation European tour. People came out of that tour saying that his voice never sounded better and was absolutely beautiful. There is a reason this man sold over a hundred and twenty million records. He had it all as a songwriter composer singer producer. Talent like this does not come along everyday.
That's awesome, Rose. I'm with you on there...I saw him twice in one week when here was in California...in Wednesday in Anaheim then Saturday in Los Angeles. Could never get enough of his magnificence ❤❤
And to think, when George was a teenager, his father told him that pursuing music was a waste of time and he can't sing for shit! Lol. Oh how George proved him and others wrong x
I went to the very last show on that tour, in Copenhagen. He added that show to thank Denmark for the support through the years. Per capita, Denmark was his biggest market, and 150,000 attended the 3 shows he did here, which was the biggest audience, also per capita. He was, of course, beyond amazing. I cried several times, it was that good.
Even though the role of Andrew Ridgeley is often not appreciated, he was quite important for the development and self-confidence of George Michael. He co-wrote the songs Wham Rap, Club Tropicana and Careless Whisper with George Michael, but he recognized early the musical potential of his schoolmate. He also released a solo album, but was not really successful. Later he married Keren Woodward from Bananarama, today they are separated. No doubt, George Michael was a musical genius. A vocalist, musician, producer and entertainer. Live just as good if not better than on record. Absolutely worth seeing is his MTV unplugged concert. My favorite Wham songs are Everything She Wants, I'm Your Man and Where Did Your Heart Go? (Written by David Was and Don Was). My absolute favorite songs of his are: Praying For Time, Cowboys And Angels, Spinning the Wheel and My Mother Had A Brother.
Andrew did SHIT! George Michael gave him writing credit for Careless Whisper so he would get royalties. After George went solo, I guess Andrew got so tired of seeing world-wide headiness "Wham!: George Michael and the Other Guy" that he tried to prove himself by releasing a solo album. He sounded like a cat being run over by a car. He was useless and only in the group so it could be a group and George was not ready to be solo. Let's call a duck, a duck.
Check out his performance of Somebody to Love at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley, full of rock royalty and megastars but George blew them all away with that magnificent tribute to Freddy.
From Wikipedia on George Michael: He achieved 13 number-one songs on the UK Singles Chart and 10 number-one songs on the US Billboard Hot 100. Michael won numerous music awards, including two Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards. He was listed among Billboard's the "Greatest Hot 100 Artists of All Time" and Rolling Stone′s the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time”.[8] The Radio Academy named him the most played artist on British radio during the period 1984-2004.[9] Michael was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame.[10]
Fellas, first of all, Rip George Michaels!!! George Michael started his career with the group called Wham, which they had great hits like Wake Me Up Before U Go Go, Everything She Wants, Last Christmas, I'm Your Man, One More Try, Freedom, I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) with Aretha Franklin, Amazing were most of his great hits. This cat was a bad ass man who left this planet too dam soon. Rip George!!! U R miss by ur fans. God Bless U up in Heaven. Rob N Amber check all those songs I put on there. U guys will like his music.
A Different Corner, his duets with Aretha Franklin, I Knew You Were Waiting for Me, If I Told You with Whitney Houston, As with Mary J Blige and his backing vocals on Deon Estus' debut single Heaven Help Me are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I Can't Make You Love Me and I'm Calling You are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 too
If you really want to hear the capacity of george's voice please react One More Try. This beautiful R&B ballad really shows off the power and equally the sensitivity of his voice. There are countless songs that show off his voice but this one is most especially a favorite of his fans.
Having watched the Wham! Netflix documentary we now realise the importance of Andrew Ridgeley he co-wrote a lot of their hits and we probably don't get George Michael without Andrew Ridgeley so he wasn''t a bit part player in the group
Your reaction is just hilarious! I am addicted to George Michael and the first time somebody spoke it out loudly: the other dude, he ain’t done shit 🤣 he was in the video!
Wham! sold 30 million records in 4 years ‘82-86! When George went solo his DEBUT album FAITH was certified DIAMOND in USA (sales of 10 MILLION!!), 1.5 Million in his native UK 🇬🇧 and totalling 26 MILLION WORLDWIDE!! Solo career total sales 120 MILLION!! He did ok lol 😆 Greetings from across the pond guys! 🇬🇧🇺🇸
If it weren't for "the other guy" pressing GM to start a group when they were still in school, GM most likely wouldn't exist as we knew him. He had said on several occasions that due to his lack of confidence, he based George Michael on Andrew Ridgeley, thus becoming the star we knew.
Its a bit long, but you should check out the BBC The Princess Trust for AIDS in 1993. Great show. Also the BBC Concert for Parkinson's., A Different Corner. Also MTV concert, I Cant Make You Love Me. Other songs, As with Mary J Blige, i Knew you Were Waiting with Aretha Franklin, Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me with Elton John. So many more....
A large part of the reason Wham! ended was because it was torturous for Andrew to just be known as "the other guy" who seemed to be riding on George's coattails (and also because they both knew that they were growing out of the youthful themes that created the group). THE WORLD WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN ABOUT GEORGE MICHAEL IF ANDREW RIDGELELY WASN'T THERE TO BE HIS BEST FRIEND AND BRING HIM OUT OF HIS SHELL. They started out as songwriting partners (co-wrote Careless Whisper) and Andrew allowed his ego to take a hit when George outpaced him in that area. Give the man his flowers. NONE of George's classics would be known to the world without Andrew. If Andrew hadn't befriended George (when he was the new chubby kid - which Andrew ALONE volunteered to do when they were 11 or 12) the world would have missed out on so much fantastic music. Give that man his respect.
FIRST OF ALL YA'LL SO DISPESPECTFUL. ANDREW AND GEORGE WERE WHAM. THEY WERE THE BEST OF FRIENDS IN HIGH SCHOOL. THATS HOW WHAM GOT STARTED. AND GEORGE AND ANDREW WROTE CARELESS WHISPERS, GEORGE PRODUCED IT. GEORGE WAS ONE OF THE BEST BRITISH SINGERS THERE WAS. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YA'LL GET ON HERE AND DEGRADE SOMEONE. AND YES, I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO WHAM SINCE 1982. BEFORE GEORGE WENT SINGLE. HE AND ANDREW WERE THE BEST OF FRIENDS UNTIL GEORGE PASSED. I CAN TELL YOU THIS, ANDREW IS SITTING ON PLENTY OF MONEY BECAUSE OF THE GROUP WHAM AND GEORGE MICHEAL.
No disrespect to Andrew Ridgeley, but he wrote one line in Careless Whisper. George wrote all the rest at 16 years old. George gave partial writing credit to Andrew to help his best friend.
The first two albums Andrew and George co wrote. The first number one in the US was written by Andrew Ridgeley. The band name WHAM was Andrews idea. The early marketing was PURELY Andrew. He hounded A&R executives. I KNOW you have no idea what A&R is but without his daily knocking on doors and hounding people got Wham the success. No Andrew...NO WHAM and NO GEORGE MICHAEL
My wife, who is not particularly a fan of wham/George michael, loved this documentary. I've been a fan since 1984, and I loved the never-before-seen videos!
Andrew actually wrote the chords which is as good as writing the song. George just filled in the vocals per George. Hate to say it but u got to give him credit on that one
What a flashback👍🏻 Hey guys Id lovr to see you react to another hard rock banger! I really think you should check out some Alice In Chains! Start with Man In the Box, or Rooster.
Show some respect to AR for crying out loud! Although GM seemed to have the lion’s share of the limelight he was predominantly the songwriter while AR, the musician!! Show sum respect, it takes two!!
How can you give a true reaction when you are talking through the entire song, instead of listening! And WHAM! wouldn't have been WHAM!, without both Andrew Ridgley and George Michael. George was the most creative with the magnificent voice, but Andew was also a creative part and did take part in some song writing. I don't know your names, but it seems the intelligent one that does his homework is the one in glasses without the beenie. Don't talk about what you don't know about!! Grown men should be ashamed of yourselves.
Love to hear you react to wham rap! Grand master flash said the first line ' hey everybody take a look at me, I got Street cred-i-bil-it-y ' is 1 of the best lines in rap. There was nothing GM cldnt do ❤
