Mr George Michael, owner of that incredible voice, sang so many gems that it is difficult to choose a few favourites. Unfortunately, some of the numbers have been underrated. This is one of them. I hope the new generation will rediscover the song and fall in love with this God-gifted songster, his deep vocal range, his falsetto, his signature dance steps, and his pop star looks, just like I did many, many summers back. And yes, the bass guitars are so good in this song. But then, most Wham! hits had a terrific bass line.

In 2024 this song is as timeless as when it was written and performed. Goerge Michael voice is deeply emotional and you see his passion as he sings. When this song first came out , I fell in love with it immediately. I'm now 67 and I've always been a fan. He remains the best male vocalist of all time. He should be dubbed as the voice. I am 59 now, will be 60 at the end of this year. I remember when this first came out. I just fell in love with this song. The lyrics and the music were just so haunting to me. I love the interlude of the saxophone it is just so beautiful, sad, soulful, and it adds to the fullness and depth of emotion that I believe George Michael was going for in this song and video. Watching this time, really studying it, I can see just how well he acts fluidly with the music using even his body to tell the story. Wow, wow, wow, is all I can to such a talent that is now missing from the scene. He left behind a wonderful body of work for all of us to enjoy. My mother LOVED this. I was only about 9 years old and loved Wham, but when this song came out my mother fell in love and played it over and over all day long. We'd sing it together. She has Alzheimer's now and doesn't recognize much of anything, but I'm sure if I played this she'd tap her feet and try to dance in her hospital bed. This song both hurts and heals me at the same time. RIP George. You were a prolific writer, producer and singer. You brought so many of us so much. Rest well icon.

this is my favorite wham! song, without a doubt. such a thought-provoking song, the storytelling is incredible. it’s so hauntingly beautiful and romantic, not to mention george’s vocals are so smooth and clear here, like liquid gold. i didn’t grow up in the 80s, but leaving out the AIDS crisis and several other issues, songs like this sometimes make me wish that i did

yah, so happy to have grown up in the '80's and been a party to all the wonderful talent in those days. each song told a story and had music vids to match. these days all the songs look and sound the same...boring and so not worth my time. im talking bout the mainstream ones and not the hidden gems ive found lately: eg Celtic Women, Longa V, Skald. I guess Necessity really is the Mother of Invention.

@@vjkenobi9702 according to this day and age it wud be considered limited...but was respective to that time frame. i remember Duran Duran singing their song Rio and the video had them dressed in upscale, swanky suits on a sailboat cruising to an island to find "Rio". thats a lot of $ for back in the day. point is: it told a story and took u on a journey to find Rio...not predictable at all and done with class. and the lyrics matched the video. just brilliant!

It feels like 1986, again. George was in his days of a worldwide famous superstardom, A unique artist. A natural born talent like his is extremely rare. His passing was a total shock, such a fabulous person and so young to leave us all alone without his great angelic voice. May George rest in peace. We will always keep him in our hearts.

The very first time I heard this song when It came out, I had a feeling of nostalgia, like I heard it before somewhere. Now it a sign of a true and genuine artist to take someone else's song and do it so good that you feel its his own. When I grew up I came to know that this song was actually a cover of an original by the band "Was (Not Was)", maybe that's why I felt I heard it before. But try as you might, after hearing the original, you'll feel that I was actually written to be sung by GM... and man did Wham! gave it justice. Can't get enough of it. Every single time I hear it, its like a hearing a new note that I hadn't heard before.... esp. that sax and the stubborn drum.
