Wharfedale Super Denton | Overview & Features 

I love my Denton 80th speakers. Are these similar sounding, i.e. smooth, rich and beefy?

@@AnalogueInTheUK They have the same charecteristic sound. But sound bigger more detailed . The tweeter is better . Good thing is they are not bright. The bass is more textural. Their vocals are better too. Dentons are smooth and a little less detailed.

Well spotted, it's actually a Naim NDX 2 streamer. I of course always try streaming as well as vinyl just for my own enjoyment. I prefer digital to be honest with you. - John

Hi, I've not heard the current bookshelf AE speakers so it wouldn't be fair to comment. I have only spent time with the AE Corinium (very nice indeed). - John

I've not heard the Mission 750 so can't comment, I have owned a few Mission speakers in the past though. I have a real soft spot for the Sonus Faber Lumina II, I think they are wonderful, it is a tough one though. Personally I would happy to own either the Lumina II or Super Denton! Both are a lot of speaker for the money. I'm not choosing, pick if you like a retro looking speaker or Italian furniture.....they both sound excellent in my opinion. - John

😂😂😂 Most important thing is the room. Then position of the speakers. Then the source, BUT!!! Source is the master, no DAC or player. Then the speakers and their directivity. Then the preamplifier and then power amplifier. Or integrated. Then loooooong time nothing and then speaker cables and then interconnects and then looooong time nothing and then power cords and conditioner and then isolating stands for cables and at the same time transport to the madhouse. 😂

It's retro speakers, it seemed apt. Of course I have also listened with a Naim high res streamer and a Bluesound - John.

You can if it's good gear. But I agree you should also try a digital source. I think a CD player or digital source will always have better stereo separation.

Hi David, I don't blame you for thinking that but this is not endorsed by Wharfedale in any way. I am pretty much free to say whatever I like and we can pick and choose what we sell. I'm not afraid to say I'm not keen on something, for instance the KEF UniQ drivers in my speaker comparison videos. If I REALLY don't like something I tend not to film it, I've had that with a couple of products so far. All the best - John

I have heard him say many times if he is not impressed with anything or if they don't float his boat. It's all subjective anyway. There isn't a "one for all system" what suits you may not necessarily suit me. Only way to know is go and have a listen for yourself. If you disagree that's your prerogative. I remember him reviewing the Bang and Olufsen Beolab 90s and thought he was over praising them. I went to the Manchester shop and heard them myself. Oh my God. He understated them. Can honestly say I've heard nothing like them.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Measurements would tell you what my listening room is doing, 'sound demos' over RU-vid mean you are listening to my room, recorded on a Rode microphone, put through Premiere Pro, compressed on RU-vid and played back on your headphones or speakers. I don't understand what you would gain from that, it has no bearing at all on how the speakers sound when sat in front of them. Yes so true and sad people want tu judge hifi by listening to them over phones or maybe be other equipments. But the bottom line is the sound is compressed and crap. Sad again we dont have huge showrooms where you can walk in and listen to everything. So in a way the present day is not for hifi unless you have a thorough understanding and knowledge about the equipments. Yes dome tweeters are always better than horns when it comes to analog sound .

@@saikatbose8370 Everyone who enjoys streaming from RU-vid know how clean sound they get. Only audiophools think file compression should results sound compression and distortion. Even with 128kb/s the sound is hardly noticeable to be degraded while RU-vid with nowadays internet speed uses 256kb/s.

@@saikatbose8370 I know very well the performance of MP3 128kbs and a above. When I listen the voice of the presenter clear and natural, I conclude that what you are referring ,compressed and crap, should be the sound of this speaker.
