"the longest time of my life and I havent been alive that long" broooo 1 minute in and after watching for over a year I still see the fire in your eye that made me subscribe. As I clicked on this video i was thinking "Damn, 1 Year later. I cant wait for the 5 years later" video. Keep up the hard work, dude! We all see the passion and drive you have for us (making videos) and consumers (great shipping and product quality).

This video was a great Sunday afternoon watch! I had guppies when I was 10 yrs old - (50 years ago - yikes!). My daughter has an aquarium now that my grandbabies enjoy. Trying to answer her questions a couple of weeks ago, led me to your channel. Your enthusiasm for this hobby is infectious! ... so much so, I just bought a tank to populate with some guppies for myself :) There are so many amazing colors out there now compared to 50 years ago! You also have an awesome personality and conversational style that is perfect for these videos. I will enjoy checking out out a few more! Keep up the great work, and cheers from Oregon, USA!

Purchased plants always die. You have to steal them for the plant for them to thrive. That's a tale told to me by my mentor. Drunken plant thievery is epic.

That's what I've always been told and I have never been able to grow syngonium because it always dies. Why? Everyone can grow syngonium. Because I purchased it. Does anyone have a plant? Invite me for dinner please?

44:46 CPDs I breed stop scattering eggs above 24C. Usually they give me a lot of eggs when it is winter time here in Europe. I keep them in an unheated aquariums and during the winter temperature stays in range 19-22C and at this temperature they breed like crazy. Cheers Nick

I have a suggestion for saving your CPD's predating on eggs. Cut course filter sponge to fit snugly in the base. Place the spawning mop on top. When the CPD's start to eat the eggs, some will escape and fall into the sponge, where they can't reach them. Move the sponge into a tank after a few days, and replace another sponge in the container. See if you get success that way.
@AstralApophis
@AstralApophis 6 месяцев назад
Latch hook template for craft store zip tied down to egg crate lighting diffuser on the whole bottom of the tank. This acts as a net small enough to keep the CPDs from predation, but the latch hook squares are large enough for CPD eggs. Worked like a charm for me, just my lack of time killed it for me. Couldn’t keep up with them

I've got 7 of the Ziss BBS hatcheries (one for each day of the week). Use a towel rack or make something to hang them up on the wall. It makes harvesting the BBS soooo much easier. I found it aggrivating to get my big hands under the stand to turn on the spout when it was sitting on a tabletop.

Nick, I definitely believe in feeding culls. I keep livebearers with my angelfish to supply fresh live food for them, but I have been unable to find any cheap cull guppies for sale. I recently returned to the hobby after being denied access for over 25 years. And I might add it has been extremely calming to my being.

Love the vids. Always fun to watch. Thinking on your problems with your CPDs: could you do a mesh bottom / false floor container so the eggs fall through out of reach of the adults? And those christmas guppies that are eating their fry... could you do a breeder box? Or some kind of mesh cage inside the tank with the adults inside it? (Kind of like a reverse shark viewing cage 😂)

So I breed guppies too and I use a floating basket well it doesn’t even really flow. It just kind of sits on the top of a 10 gallon tank. It’s a square pond basket by tetra and it works great. I mean out of my few fish I started with I have hundreds and hundreds of fish now and it’s very successful at keeping the moms out of the babies.

From what I hear, celestial pearls are real aggressive egg eaters and you'd probably want to spawn them like danios, breeding net/box the entire group up and let the eggs fall through. I dunno what exactly the feeding schedule is on 'em, but probably try extra feedings and breeding them like danios for a couple weeks to see the results?

The hatch rate is not the best because you are leaving the eggs outside at room temp.. :) try keeping them frozen till you need to hatch. What I do is keep the big box in the freezer, then decant into a small box that I keep in the fridge. Then I hatch from the fridge one, and refill as needed.
