Wouldn't the cherry barbs nip the find of the angels? I had cherry barbs one time that nipped the find completely off of another fish causing it to be unable to swim and die.
@KGTropicals Can you do a video on the penguin 200. I just got back into fish keeping a month ago and love it. You said in a older video you loved the 150 when you got back into fish keeping in 09. I don’t have the 150 but I think the 200 is the new version and it looks way bigger than the 150 in your video.
I put 3 2-3 in Filament Barb Tropical Fish with my large 5inch angle fish is this OK ? Its a 90 gallon tank and there's a medium size pleco ? Been there for 30 min everything seems OK ? Should I mplease and thank you
We have a beautiful angelfish, about 10 inches from the tip of his dorsal to the ends of his pelvic fins (which are over 5 inches). Every fish we had put in with him has been found dead within a week so we just let him live his solitary life. His favorite activity is being hand fed.
Have you tried adding plecos or some other species of catfish? I have some Humbug Catfishes(Platydoras armatus) with my angels and they don't bother each other. They are decently big on size, so you might need a big tank to keep them with big angels, around 35-40 gallons in my opinion, but they will be fine.
Most of the beginners in the hobby would love to have angelfish in their tank but they always get confused on choosing the perfect tank mates for angelfish, on this amazing video you guys perfectly listed down the well matched tank mates for fresh water angelfish. Bravo Lisa and John :)
Whoa. I literally just looked up this topic last night, as I got a 60 gallon tank before the lockdown started and I was thinking about trying angels for the first time. Thanks for the info!
Recently i bought six otto's for my tank. I really like their behavior, and when i was watching them i saw some were schooling up with my zebra danios. Almost like they were playing, so cool
Did you have them with an angel? I had a small school of 8 that began to disappear one by one. I suspect they were snacks for either my angels or my electric blue acara. Whoopsie
How long have they been together, I'm thinking about adding a dwarf gourami to a 75 with two female angels and I'm worried about it's feelers being attacked by the angels.
I absolutely love your guys's Channel I have a 55 gallon aquarium with 2 angelfish 5 gold Rams 6 lamp eye tetras 8 Cherry barbs 4 panda Cory 2 bristlenose plecos and 2 clown plecos and everybody seems to begin along just fine I got the Rams like 5 days ago and this is my first time having them and they're getting along just fine they're doing well they're swimming all right they're behaving normally
I've always had Angels and Neons paired and never had an issue with the Angels eating them. The key is have a large group of Neons so none could potentially get picked off with large Angels.
Thank you for this video showcasing fish that go well with angelfish. I have 5 angels on the small to medium size. I now know what to look for at the fish store when choosing tank mates for my angels. 😀🐟🐠
I have a few Ram's (2 males and 5 females) in my 200 gallon angel tank and they love chilling in the plants/hidey holes at the bottom of the tank. They go great together.
Considering keeping an angel or maybe two in my new 36 gallon. I'm always excited to see the harlequin rasbora on a tank mate list because I think they're my favorite and I have no idea why 😂
Your angels won't grow to their full potential if you leave them in a 20 gal. I breed angels and gave a friend 4 angels that she kept in a 29 gal tank (she does her water changes and feeds well) I kept and grew out another 4 of their siblings in a 75 gal and when she gave back 2 because 2 had paired off and were harassing the other 2, they were have the size of mine that grew out in the 75 gal
I'm so glad this video exists. I just got a new tank today and I wanna make it an angelfish tank once it's cycled and everything and I've been dying trying to come up with tank mates beyond some corys
Favorite mix with angels hands down has to be. Altum Angels, Discus, German Rams, and Zebra Plecos. Those all go together perfectly temp, ph, and aggression wise.
so glad you guys put this video out today!! I’m researching about freshwater angels and community tanks for them. Just got a 55 gallon setup & am super excited to set it up! btw I have a small pet channel I’d appreciate any support 😇💛
65 gal planted, 2 angels, 1 hill stream loach, 2 panda Corey's, 6 neons, 3 glow light tetras, 4 rummy nose, 4 blood fin tetras, 2 green fire tetras(all the store had left)' 2 dwarf gouramis, and 1 albino bristle nose Pleco which has stayed small. Everyone gets along except once in a while the powder blue gourami will chase the flame gourami away, but not often.
Hyper raze, I did not give a price for my Corey's. In fact they were $3.99 each, but if you think $5 is too much For a fish you have the wrong hobby. My Philippine blue Angels were $25 each plus $45 shipping. Have a blessed day.
@@jamesburton7298 Yes, I have paid the same for the blues and high orange coverage Koi. Even more for my Discus. But they are all beautiful and worth it! Not only should he get 3-4 more cories he should also get another 4 rummy nose, globe lights and tetras- most of the fish he has would be best kept in groups of 5+. In my planted 55 with my 3 manacapura angels I have a group of 15-18 cardinals and 6 Schwartzi corydoras and it is such a fun tank to watch. Would rather save up and pay more to have amazing fish that are comfortable-after all there was quite an investment in the tank, stand, heater, cannister filter etc
I recently got a 40gallon tank and have finished setting it up. It has been cycling for 4 days now. It has heaps of live plants, 2 filters, a heater, sand substrate. I got stuff from a friends filter and put it in my tank to get the beneficial bacteria. I’m wanting to get 3-5 angels(still researching the size of the tank and what’s appropriate for that) some corydoras, some bristlenoses, and maybe some kuhli loaches and platys
@IvyPlaysRoblox-me1qh I upgraded to a 4ft (55 gal) pretty quickly. The angels once they grew up were spawning weekly and very happy. I now have a lot of tanks and fish and work at a specialty aquarium store.
I’ve had silver dollars with my Angelfish for years. I bought them at about the same time an same size. The silver dollars are active and schooling nicely. They are also fast and hardy so they can stand up to or get away from a more aggressive or spawning angel.
I’ve found that gouramis larger varieties like opaline and moonlight do very well with angels. I have 2 angels and 2 opaline gouramis and they do amazing togther and both are breeding pairs :)
Yeah Angelfish can definitely be agressive. Had one that kept attacking my other Angelfish, luckily my pet store agreed to do a swap. now its much better and the female is even laying eggs
Yeah mine is pretty aggressive. Put a rainbow in with him and it was a battle Royale. He chases even the tetras. I guess I got one of the angry ones lol. On the bright side he’s very active.
My pair of koi angels were so aggressive until they killed 4 angels they have reduced their aggression since i added the golden rams it tried to attack them instead the golden ram rammed the angel which 3 times it size😂😂.
Just want to throw this out there for all you Angelfish owners… in my limited experience, large angels absolutely can and will devour rummynose. Pretty interesting to watch a breeding pair methodically hunt them down, but not exactly a winning move for the ol’ budget.
Wow yOur video helped me out tremendously! I started a new 40 gal angelfish tank , with a rainbow fish and some danios, and it wasn’t fully complete so I needed to find another perfect tank mate for these guys . Harlequin rasboras!!! I would’ve never thought due to how they can be aggressive over fin nipping, but in a school they’ll just skert around the bottom and balance out the tank. Very helpful video, I didn’t know what we’re the best but now I do!
Just had Koi Angel fish on my 90L tank Tank mates, Wild Betta, Dark knight Ram, Panda Cory, Cory pygmy, otocinclus, ember tetra, Green tetra, Harlequin Rasbora, Bristlenose, Balloon Molly, Kuhli loaches
I know this video is 3 y/o, but so full of info! I've had several tanks of Angels but never kept more than 6 at a time in a 50 gal tank. However yes, some angels are unpredictable. I had one that constantly killed any other fish in its tank, even the other angels I got with it. I ended up keeping it by itself. I swear it would dance and get active whenever I approached the tank to feed it. Unfortunately it died after my divorce when I had to jump on a plane and couldn't take it with me. He died about a month after I left😢. But thank you because now when I make my next tank I have now better info and I'm more confident in keeping a nice and healthy tank. Hopefully my next angel fish isn't a serial killer haha
I have a 55gal tank with 2 anjelfish, 3 guppies, 7 zebra danios, 1(very chill) female betta, 1 mystery snail, and 1 ghost shimp. I set it all up 6 months ago, and everyone is doing well!☺
I have some angel fish in my aquarium and they do really well. Also I have some giant Dano’s in there they’re good for the most part except I have one that is very mean to other fish and chases them around the tank my kids named that one snapper.
I had 6 angels for about 10 years, had most of these fish with them at some point, I found smaller fish like tetras, even cardinals would occasionally disappeared when the angels got bigger ... 120 gallon tank so a pair of kribensis and a couple of pairs of rams kept them company ... for cleaning in addition to various corydoras, and a blue eyed demon plec, I had a couple of Clown loaches and few Kuhli loaches
I’m soon to be purchasing a 32.5 gallon tank. I plan on getting an angel fish and some cardinal tetras with a few corys. My main fear is the angel fish being aggressive and killing the other fish. Great video!
I have a 66g tank with angel fish, 4 of them. Tank mates are cardinals, rummynose tetras, some corys, Albinos and panda corys. A couple of bristle nose plecos. And the latest fish i added was a checkerboard cichlid. It’s a very peaceful tank I’m happy with it
Hi! I have 3 Angel Fish 3 Neon Green danios 3 Rainbow danios 2 Yellow danios 3 Cardinal Tetras 2 Colored Tetras 1 Neon tetra 1 pair Redeye Swordtail I just bought them this afternoon and they are wonderful.
I have a green neon tetra school, small betta sorority, 2 honey gouramis, 2 bumblrbee gobys, and a clown pleco in a 75 with my 2 angels and everyone gets along perfectly. Ocassionally a gourami will chase an angel and vice versa but otherwise everyone is happy
I upgraded my lone angel who was attacking all guppies in my 36 g up to a 100 g which I obtained right before quarantine. Now have 5 angels with sterbai corys, cherry barbs, a Bolivian ram (we lost his girlfriend) and black neon tetras. My Angels are far from “boring sitting in one spot and looking pretty”! They come begging for food every time we walk by and follow us like little puppies. They’re frequently doing some light sparring/nudging with each other (not bad, just interesting) and leave everyone else alone.
PS The initial goal was to have rummynose tertras instead of the cherry barbs...but the angels attacked the bag so mightily when we put it in to float (ignoring the bag of corys!) and seemed to be specifically going after that red head, so we chickened out and put the rummys elsewhere. Anyone else on here successfully keep rummys with angels?
This is the perfect list! Of course my favorite fish (Tiger Barb) wouldn't/shouldn't be on this list, but I do have to mention an additional candidate. A large school of long fin Serpae Tetras looks pretty darn cool too.
@@yoloitzalex8632 Like many fish described as 'fin nippers', most simply require a group/school to greatly reduce the nipping. Check out KGTropicals "10 Best Tank Mates for Bettas" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gxAOSUOjveA.html
I had a couple of angel fish a few years back and one of them just bullied every single other fish in the tank. Killed a couple of others before I realised what was he was doing!!! I absolutely love rummy-nose though, almost as much as my bristle nose pleco 😁. Nice top 10 guys 🙏😊
It’s usually better to get angels when they smaller and young. If you add THEM to an existing community, they’ll be more adaptive and less aggressive. Sorry about your Danios. Maybe get a larger group next time.
Yesterday bought 10 neons and my two angles swallowed 3 of them within 5 mins. I immediately taken out the rest of the neons. It turned out to be a bad decision to put small sized neons in angel fish tank.
Yes, it's either (a) add small angels to an established population of small fish, or (b) add large fish to a tank with mature angelfish/vice-versa. Angelfish can be quite deceiving - they swim gracefully and seem to ignore smaller fish when the lights are on, but when the lights are out, they will make use of moonlight or streetlight to ambush any small fish that dares to swim above them. I've witnessed it first-hand.
