Many stereotypes there in America about the Busa... I use mine only for long motorcycle trips abroad... minimum one month long trip, with luggages and my wife along as a passenger. And it's stock, no handlebars risers. It's not a city bike but I manage it, again with luggages and a passenger. I can do 300km (186mi) on a tank, touring so, yours has a problem. You can make some modification to better the brakes. Mine is the 99 version and I love it. I'm gonna ride it all over the world. I had a ZX6R as my first motorcycle, that I kept for 6 years, then I got a 2006 ZX10R, kept it for 2 years. Then I got the Busa in 2015 that I have now. The busa is far more easy to ride and manage then the ZX10. Two big to filter??? I filtered in Athens, Ioannina, Salonic, Crete, Sanorini, Sofia, Istanbul, Ankara, Bucharest, Mersin, Sanliurfa etc. With full set of luggages and a passenger.. What are you talking about? Listen all. I'm not saying that this is a perfect motorcycle. It doesn't even come close. But there are so many faulty opinions about this bike coming from guys that only had a week or two riding this bike at their home town and now they think they are busa experts. I got over 80.000 km (aprox 50000miles) with this motorcycle and belive me I'm tired of the lies. It takes skills to filter with it, skills to not have to prove anything to anyone. It tempts you to race it. Advantages and diadvantages. All bike have them. PS: the only thing that the Hayabusa need it's a good pilot, a pilot that respects it and knows how to handle it.

I have never seen someone complain so much in the first 10 minutes about one of the greatest machines ever built. It’s reliable, fast and does what it’s made to do perfectly. It gets toasty? Try a Harley. The pegs too high? Lowering pegs are $50. Brakes leave something to be desired? Keep up with maintenance. For anyone who sees this review please take it with a grain of salt and take one for a ride. Your experience may differ… (I bet it will)

I daily ride my gen 3 through the city and love it. It has great low down torque and gets of the lights quickly. I usually head back from work on the highway and I really can't fault it, it would say it's my favourite bike that I've owned so far.

I'm getting the Hayabusa simply because I want this bike, regardless of the so many opinions and I wouldn't complain having one, because having a bike like this is a heritage and a legacy, afterall I can get myself a scooter and still have complaints😂 owning a legendary hyperbike/superbike is a very overwelming and a humbling experience nuff said..

It's an awesome bike. The brakes are fine, handling is perfect for the street, and it puts all the power down with a little lean on the bars. Honestly isn't a hard bike to learn on if you have some discipline. I will admit, I borrowed an FZ1 when taking the motorcycle driving exam.

As a roadbike, a Hayabusa is so much more practical than a sportbike. I owned a gen 2. In terms of bikes I've owned over the years, it's one of my favorites. Current bike is a K1300S but I could happily own another Busa.

I’m on my third busa over the last 20 years and I just can’t get enough. I absolutely love em. I’m kinda a bigger guy though so it doesn’t feel unusually large or heavy in my experience. Don’t get me wrong it definitely feels heavier than my k6 GSXR1000… But I feel like it wears the weight well. Just my .02. Another great video. Thanks for sharing!! Ride safe brothers.

Ride the thing on a road trip 5 to 8 hours in a day, and you will smile when you see it the next morning in the car park. Your MPG is telling you to maybe change the plugs or investigate. I know I am only one fellow rider but my 2000 busa, that desperately needs its rings done, gets 39MPG Swap the brake lever. I know you guys don't wanna spend too much on the old girl but braided lines and a how-to install video maybe? My breaks now rip my eyeball out.

Look for a Power commander near the stock ecu. If its a USB version then drop the factory map back on there. Free and easy way to to see whats going on there.

I recently bought a Hayabusa after watching a few yammie noob vids and I put a street fighter handlebar conversion on it from cnc moto and it made a world of difference also some cheap ebay pegs for more leg room I'm getting around 40mpg and I've got a gen1 busa I think there's definitely something wrong with your busa

The Gen1 Bussa will display the fuel usage on the Australian spec bikes in KM/L when you press the lower button on the dash , mine is showing 16.7km/L and 16.9km/L which is about 39 mpg US (i think). I haven't ridden my bike in over a year and it has been started and warmed up on the paddock stand a few times . From full the fuel gauge moves slowly at first , but when it's getting lower on fuel the gauge moves faster. If your bike is getting 15-19 mpg and has been "tuned" i would suggest getting it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing , a slipon and tune is near enough stock. The stock gen 1 brakes suck and if you can't lift the front wheel a little under power in first , well i would be surprised. I know oil is a controversial topic but with Motul 5100 in mine the gear changes were better than any biscotti boy could hope for

do it, I went from a Superglide Custom to a 2008 Busa and never been happier. Its like buying a toyota in more ways than one. There are so many aftermarket parts, that you can turn this bike into whatever you can think of (other than an adventure bike lol). They have been worked on and experimented so much that the internet is full of people sharing their experience having already done whatever you are trying to do. And the motor is bullet proof. With regular maintenance, it will last forever on the street. Now the riding position is aggressive. Bar risers and braided break lines are mandatory.

Zero maintenance. You just need to change the oil once per season. And changing the oil is a pain in the ass so bring it to the dealer. The engine only needs spark plugs every 3 years.

Recently sat on a Gen 1 to try it out for size as i'm thinking about buying one, i'm 5'7" with a 30" inseam and about 160lb, it felt like it fitted me like a glove, tried pushing the bike around and it wasn't too bad, funny thing is a mate who is 5'11" found it uncomfortable. I'm buying a Gen 1 anyway as i think they are stunning bikes

If I got my maths right, in this stage the Busa guzzled 15,8 L/100km in old world units. That is about the consumption of my old 1998 1.8L Opel Vectra - when I put a brick on the pedal and thunder down the autobahn at 140 mph - it's basically gas station hopping with the bike

If any MC feels “heavy” then you need to master your grey area, in the clutch, throttle control, head and eyes, and rear brake. In other words go take a law enforcement oriented riding course. It’s really actually easy to learn with the right instructions

The sharp steering angle makes the 2nd Generation Hayabusa feel like it's a 600cc bike once it's rolling. If it had any lighter steering or more nimble handling it wouldn't even be safe. It's as sharp and twitchy as it can possibly be for a high speed bike.

I’m finally a full-fledged Gen 1 Busa Boi, and I can confirm, it’s surprisingly good as a daily. Ergonomics are more relaxed than any super sport, plenty of torque so you don’t have to worry about shifting when highway cruising, and the weight is super low with a long wheelbase making slow speed actions pretty easy. I slapped some semi-hard saddles, a tail, and a tank bag on it, and now it functions as a genuine sport tourer. 10/10 would recommend. Edit: when I bought it, it came with the braided-steel brake line and clutch line upgrade, would definitely recommend doing so if you go the Busa route. Edit #2: yes, it’s the awful tune y’all had that made the mpg so bad. Mine has a tune as well, but I’m still getting 35 mpg (on 93 octane). While certainly bad for a bike, it’s not sub-20 mpg, and I usually get like 200 miles per tank, depending on how I’m riding. Also, the tank does genuinely hold 5.5 gallons. The issue is the gas gauge doesn’t read like 3/4 of the tank, so when you fill it, it’ll stay at full until you’re almost empty. I’ll pretty much find the nearest gas station as soon as I see the needle drop below full, because you only have like 50 miles once it starts to drop lol.

I ride my Gen 2 Busa daily in Austin, with a stock air box I get 32 mpg and about 120 miles per tank. There is an air box MOD with a tune that improves performance through the RPM range but kills the gas mileage

I used to daily a cbr600 and now I’ve had a first gen busa for about 4-5 months I can honestly say that immediate response to weight is wild but when you get moving it really don’t even feel that heavy. I throw my first gen around like it’s nothing. They are blowing the weight and size way out of proportion. If you think that’s a big heavy bike then you haven’t ridden a zx14 lol them busas handle way better than you would think and they are very good in traffic, easy to ride and most importantly for a daily, they don’t over heat in traffic. My cbr would overheat 220+ degrees f everytime I rode it and went through town. Not with the busa. It has never overheated on me. After riding a busa for a while, I just can’t go back to a smaller sport bike. The smaller bikes dont feel planted and they feel like it only takes a 5mph gust in the wrong direction to wash the front end out at speed. If you want to daily a liter bike, the busa is the way to go imo. It’s more street oriented. A track spec race bike will be over heating around town and they are just not designed to do what a busa is designed to do. Busa handles the cross wind like a champ compared to other smaller bikes as well. I have had the opposite experience as they have with mine. That undertail exhaust on the cbr is absolutely miserable. I don’t feel the heat on my busa anywhere near as bad as I did on the cbr

Any motorcycle requires concentration. First problem: when you stop, the vehicle wishes to lay itself down, and take a nap. It only stays upright if you insist, by holding it up with your legs. An automobile on the other hand when stopped, just sits there. The driver can actually turn off the engine and take a nap and the vehicle will remain in the position it assumed when it came to rest. If you try that with a motorcycle, you will find some of your anatomy buried beneath the machine, if or when you awake.

The Busa is designed with a sliper clutch. Brocks has a clutch MOD to eliminate the slipper clutch.

Started out on dirt bikes. Moved to a K1200S. Then a ZX11. Then a Hayabusa. Honestly have never felt like it was some kind of INSANE MOSTER THATS JUST RIDICULOUS. It’s gentle and capable if you have common sense.

The Hayabusa Turbo is the best beginner bike, best sports bike, best touring bike, best drag bike, best cornering bike, best fuel economy bike, best reliable bike, best ergonomics bike, best race track bike, best cruiser bike, best dirt bike and even the best trial bike ever. And if you strip it off, it is also the best naked bike ever.

A nice honest review by Spite. Bikes with the weight and stability of a Hayabusa and with that kind of torque are great daily riders. With the gas mileage you're getting there's obviously something not right with the tune of that particular bike. Why not for some future content take it to a dyno shop that specializes in tuning bikes. You might find it gains power in all the right places as well as has much improved gas mileage, ... which would be well spent dollars.

I had a 5.0 Mustang I put a Paxton supercharger on - got about 20mpg - better fuel mileage than your Busa!

HOW did you only get 19 miles to a gallon? I daily rode my Busa and was averaging 50 miles per gallon with mix riding.

Also another popular mod if you want better comfort is to put some Buell footpegs on, that lowers them about an inch and makes a big difference.

It takes longer to get use to the busa but when you do it’s an amazing bike. I have a 2019 and love it. I am 6’7” 270lbs so I make the bike look normal lol. What rear sets would you recommend to go with? I would like to drop them down some.

I’ve got the same year busa mate and I’m 285 lbs 6’1 Vortex rearsets and helibar risers made it perfect for me Also due to our weight you’ll need to put stronger springs in the front forks Mine is like a scalpel through corners now

Thanks for the critical review. How many of these gripes apply to the zx14r I wonder. I am in such a bad spot. I want a Honda cbr600 , but they seem so tiny these days, and Im a big fella. I’m also older and need a sport tourer I think. The 2022 hayabusa Looks big enough , the zx14r and h2sx look great but the h2sx is $$$ (so is the busa) Then the Ducati super sport is supposed to be very comfy, but is it big enough? All the other new “sport tourers” are just adventure bikes with street tires. *cough* bmw xr.... then there’s used bikes but I want to finance , not sure I can get as good of a finance deal on a used bike . I like the bmw k1300s , the Yamaha fjr1300 , but the yamaha has handlebars which I don’t like , I just want a comfy bike , big enough but not huge and heavy , I want an in-line 4 that screams and traction control, power settings all the fancy safety features. I don’t know if that bike exists. The h2sx may be it , or the k1300s (though the k1300 and zx14 look heavy) The Ducati looks so close but it’s not an inline 4 .though the pops and gurgles may satisfy my auditory needs.

Hey bud, not sure if you landed on a bike yet as this comment is almost a year old but you're quickly understanding why bike guys have multiple bikes. You're trying to put a cbr600 against an h2sx? And then talking about engine format? I'm really not sure you know what you want... Again, old comment so hopefully you sorted it out.
