It takes years to build a fan base. They shouldn't worry about how many fans are in stadium, Make your money off of TV deals. And make in game tickets very cheap. I think they should expand, hard to be taken serious with only 8 teams, 12 would be better.

The USFL of old collapsed because they wanted to go head to head with the NFL. There’s nothing wrong with being an alternative. When the USFL began and was only an alternative, they had some of the greatest players to ever play professional football. Jim Kelly, Hershel Walker and others ended up in the NFL HOF. Being an alternative would be an excellent way to begin and lay a solid foundation. Unless of course you know someone who has billions of dollars in disposable income to just outright finance something for their own pleasure. Then why not go for it. But that’s really what it would take to legitimately compete with the NFL. Too much name recognition, too much history and way too much money for their side.

I think they should look to relocate teams that have trouble attracting a fanbase before they expand. For expanding, I'd like to see the Sea Dragons come back in the XFL division and the Breakers in the UFL division. Expansion should be slow and incremental. Don't expand too fast and dilute the talent too much.
@jcmolette1613
@jcmolette1613 15 дней назад
I disagree with putting teams in NFL locations. Investors never learn. Only a couple NFL markets has sustained spring football well. St Louis - Yes but this is more medium than large. Seattle - Yes. Houston - No not this time around. Dallas/Arlington - No, Arizona/Phoenix - No, Los Angeles - No, NY/NJ - No, Philadelphia /Baltimore - No...the odds are against large markets and large stadiums. Thinking big does not mean it will work! It just wastes resources better spent in medium markets.

for expansion, i think it will happen. but i hope they consider expanding into non nfl markets, there are plenty of large or midsize cities like st.louis, that actually want a team, stay out of cities, like nashville, philadelphia,or chicago...otlando would be a city to to bring back, as would oakland and possably san diego..others oklahoma city,or tulsa, louisville, raleigh, hampton roads areain virginia, louisville,,columbus,or canton, charleston,myrtle beach, stracusethe big sky area, idaho,wyoming,montana, north and south dakota, omaha, saltlake,san jose, portland reno,tucson and albuquerque

I agree completely stay out of NFL cities. Although I think since the Washington Commanders don't play in DC it was a great move by the UFL to have the DC Defenders since the DC fans pretty much fill up a stadium basically made for a MLS team. I think UFL should have a team in NYC since both the NY Giants and Jets play in NJ. I think once the MLS's NYCFC complete their stadium the UFL should endorse on a team there and bring back the Hitmen make them the NY Hitmen. I think just like the DC Defenders the NY Hitmen will be successful since they actually play in the city they represent. Also In my opinion for now stay in at least a 20,000 seat stadiums don't rush into bigger stadiums till the league grows. But other then that stay away from NFL cities I would focus on San Diego, Oakland, Sacramento, Portland, Salt Lake City, Orlando, Tulsa, Omaha, Milwaukee, Canton, Columbus, Austin, possibly Mobile, Alabama and the list goes on. Bring back the XFL's Outlaws and Thunderbolts and have them be the Oakland Outlaws & San Diego Thunderbolts. Have the Orlando Apollos which were from the Alliance of American Football enter the league and also the Sacramento Surge who were from the World League of American Football. Just my opinion though.

@@the-ish-1_21 i agree with your choices, i think eventually, seattle seadragons will get another opportunity, i think there will be a new york market, weather it's the generals in new jersey,or prehaps a team in brooklyn. i think a team in upstate new york would do well, not buffalo, but syracuse. canton, and the hampton roads area in virginia, louisville, milwaukee, raleigh, charleston,myrtlebeach,savannah, chattanooga, mobile, orlando, sherveport, austin,elpaso,ft.worth, oklahoma city,tulsa, omaha, the big sky area, udaho,wyoming,montana,or north south dakota, portland,reno, saltlake city,san jose,sacramento, sandiego, tucson,and albuquerque. some teams may need to relocate, michigan stays in michigan but to a different city, arlington,and houston could stay in texas, the breakers to mobile,or sherveport, the bandits to orlando, and the colorado gold to colorado springs or a big sky area location

Yes the Seattle sea dragons and New Orleans breakers are popular teams to bring. But the sea dragons will have to wait because they will be the only team in the west and the UFL will have to wait and see if other city’s or States near the sea dragons would want a team. For expansion teams I would like to see new teams be added instead of old teams because when you look at the ratings for viewerships in the UFL Oklahoma City and Tulsa were ranked 3rd and 4th place. So these two places would be a good choice to have teams. Canton Ohio is most likely going to have a team because the UFL got permission from the NFL to use the name bulldogs. But for me I wish they pick a different name instead of bulldogs because of how common it is, so if they do choose a different name but they would want a dog breed I would liked the team name be the pit bulls.

I want to say bring back the Providence Steam Roller, 1928 NFL Champions, but there's just nowhere for them to play. Hartford managed to draw 14.4k attendance in the 2010 version of the UFL, which would be good enough to tie for 2nd with DC in the 2024 UFL. The real standout though was the Omaha Nighthawks, which sold out every game in a 23k capacity baseball stadium despite having bad teams.

A preference, a minor fan of UFL therefore, my pov is very small to what you already recorded and pointed out. Yet, in my opinion, another season with the current format should be good. What UFL needs is more accessibility for people to watch the games. Besides just FOX/ESPN+, maybe RU-vid TV or through their app at a reasonable price point like how the NFL+ is like. I think, that will bring more exposure and more butts in stadiums. Be great if they come to Los Angeles, CA but since no one really saw our LA home team played under the old XFL league, hard to imagine what it like for an outside team play here.

I think 15,000 to 20,000+ seat soccer stadiums work for this league it definitely worked for DC. Some of these soccer stadiums expand to a bigger capacity. Stay in 15,000 to 20,000+ seat soccer stadiums for now till the league hopefully grows. I think they have to focus on non NFL cities and have some teams relocate to non NFL cities. And they need better marketing & promotion. They need to market better team names I'm not invested in the Memphis Showboats? I prefer the return of the Memphis Maniax. But these are just my opinions

My understanding is that in order for the merger to be okayed by the federal government, the league agreed to expand as quickly as possible. I think they'll have to expand by at least 2 in '25 - but Seattle should NOT be one of those teams until the league lets go of the Arlington hub system (the travel between the two cities is how those XFL costs skyrocketed).

I agree with this; unless the league is required to expand, the league needs to find stable markets so that the whole thing doesn’t go belly-up if the new teams fail… Seattle had high attendance, but I’m unsure if this is just how much Seattle fans love football in general, or how bad the Seahawks have been recently (similar to the failures of the Commanders in Washington)

This League is operating like a NCAA Division II organization. No advertising, which host cities hardly knew the teams exist. No ties/sponsorships with the NFL. No NIL Level visibility, marketing of players/commercial products; nor, real push to highlight league(UFL) apparel. Need a Prime Time Friday Night Game, a Late Afternoon Saturday game, to avoid some of college basketball key matchups & local college programs games, which hurt Memphis, Houston, & Birmingham attendance, and wrap up the weekend with the regular Sunday two game broadcast, at slightly later start times. However, this league needs to expand by 4 teams, not only for more visible content/product; but, 8 teams looks & gives the impression of a less than low-level Minor League vibe. The needs to do a real market study of viable cities & approach to the population of those cities. Two cities that come to mind, right off the bat are Oklahoma City(Norman) and Canton....possibly Louisville as a third city, Baltimore as a crosstown rival to DC, maybe. The kicker is broadcasting. With a twelve-team league, the league can put together a network package, similar to the NFL Sunday Ticket, with the ABC/Fox networks, streaming on RU-vid TV where as, the UFL have 6 game every week, for 10 weeks, at a compatible marketed share price.... for the sake of argument, let's say for an example: $39.99 for the package(all 40 Sunday games), $49.99 with RedZone/4-Screen Sneak-Peek. The League would maintain one Prime Time game on Friday Night, rotated between ABC(5 games)/Fox(5 games). One National broadcast game mid-Sunday afternoon on a rotating basis with ABC(5)/Fox(5). The other 4 remaining games, played simultaneously, mid-Sunday afternoon on RedZone/4-Screen Sneak-Peek...with kick start time at 3:15p et/2:15p ct...broadcast start at 3p et/2p ct & broadcast end at 6:30p et/5:30p ct, unless overages. Obviously, when one network feature the Friday Night Prime Time Game, the other network partner broadcast the Sunday National Televised Game. The other Four game, split broadcasting rights between the two networks, ABC/Fox coverage, streamed on RU-vid TV RedZone/4-Screen Sneak-Peek. This can help the league generate more revenue, from package sells & Ads; and maybe, help marginally increase RU-vid TVs Subscriptions some. This league needs to convey a more big-boy business operation plan, as if they are an SEC/B10 knock off alternative to minor league football. Now as for the schedule for a 12-Team League...this is where the league needs to temporarily, think outside the box, for the time being, until the time come, hopefully, where the League can expand to 16 Teams. Forget this USFL/XFL Division format...time to move past that, at least for now. Set up 3 Divisions of 4 Teams each, based on naturally geographic proximity/regional rival. Each Team play 6 Division games, home & home, against their divisional rival. 2 games, one home/one away, against two opponents of one Division...the same against the other Division. Rotate opponents every two years...if the League can last that long. 6 Team Playoffs format, where as, 3 Division winners & 3 Wildcards(regardless of division affiliate). Top two teams gets a bye, for 1st Round Wildcard Weekend....3rd division winner(3-seed) host the 6th seed and the top wildcard team(4th-seed) host the 5th seed. 2nd Round Divisional Playoff Game feature the top team(1st-seed) hosting the lowest seeded team that advance and the 2nd seed team hosting the other team that advance. Championship Game feature the two remaining teams that advance. Again, ABC/Fox split televised playoff games....networks bid on televising the Championship Game. All post-season kick times TBD....probably on a Saturdays/Sundays, at that time of the year, when March Madness is long gone.

I’m kind of surprised that when they did the merger at the beginning that both sides didn’t have 6 teams a piece. They are at 8 now. So I would two teams to each side or maybe add four more teams to make it a 16 team league and more reach and marketing and growth for support and development and promotion. I don’t think staying out of NFL cities completely is a good idea. I have seen some suggestions that certain cities be excluded since they have a pro sports team or teams even though none are football. I would point out St. Louis, Memphis, and San Antonio all had great draws of fans (in relative terms and numbers with a reformed league lineup) and good television ratings and have non football professional sports. With that said, over-saturation of a product or too many professional teams in one locale could be detrimental. So the following cities should be considered for expansion. Shreveport Little Rock Santa Fe San Diego San Jose Portland Spokane El Paso Topeka Louisville Raleigh Charleston SC Orlando Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Florida New Orleans but play at Tulane Lubbock Albuquerque Columbus Ohio Sioux Falls Bismarck Topeka Salt Lake City Reno Bangor or Portland Maine Atlantic City Dover Laramie Omaha Albany Springfield Illinois or Dekalb Biloxi Mobile Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Boise Milwaukee Detroit And a few other cities could be choices from the selection of candidates I have above. I think of the cities I listed at least 4, if not more, worthy expansion cities are there.

I don't see any team from the original XFL coming back as well. The current XFL seemed to avoid the original XFL, unlike the USFL. All right. Pump your brakes here a little bit!!! Here's why!, number one you never put a franchise in a city that has an NFL NBA NHL or Major League baseball franchise. That's a recipe for disaster. Number two, you go to markets where neither of the four major league teams or leagues are in existence. If they are having trouble as it is getting attendance numbers with eight teams, what makes you think attendance is going to get any better with 12 or 16 teams? This thing will fold as fast as you can say. Check please! Number three, alternative football leagues have never been an attraction. They've always been a niche attraction for football fans who only like football only. These fans are not going to watch the NBA Major League baseball or NHL. They are die hard football people that love football. No matter if it comes from the Canadian football League, some of the indoor leagues or hell college football, spring games that is. So expanding it really would be a waste of time and you're going to go in debt. Because if you don't get the monies necessary to support the expansion, then it's going to flop.. Now this is how you run an alternative football league. 1). You go to areas where there's neither an NFL NBA NHL or Major league sports team. Where you have the market to yourself and you can focus on marketing and promoting your team in that market. 2). You have to do things that the NFL is not doing. 3). You need to know the market that you're going to. Because yes, I could put a franchise in Oakland, California where the raiders , the Athletics, and the warriors used to play. But what happens if the people in Oakland start to really get attracted to Las Vegas? Or San Francisco? You got to look at if that market is a feeder support system for other major league sports teams. I learned this from Jim Foster of the arena football League. When they went into the 1988 season and the league had a franchise in Providence, Rhode Island called the steamwheelers. And Mr. Foster asked one of the production guys from ESPN. Hey you know what you think about arena football? The ESPN workers is all. It's a nice product. You know it's cool. Mr. Foster didn't like that answer so he asked again. Well what is this market connected to? He said yeah. This Providence Rhode Island market is connected to Boston and majority of the people here in Providence, Rhode Island are fans of the bruins, the Celtics, the Patriots, and the Red Sox. Now during that season, it was the NHL and NBA. And tonight everybody is coming to watch the Boston bruins because something big was happening in that organization with a key player. So it made sense that Foster looked around and saw that he only had 7,000 people in attendance when he was told this was a great market and man this thing's going to be a sell-out every game it wasn't. He was told to a tail. So just because you go to a non-major League, sports market does not necessarily mean that the people in that area are going to get behind this product. That is an alternative football league on alternative sports League to the major leagues. You have to really be careful and do your due diligence and do your homework when it comes to this. 3). Company of one: ° staying small and deliberately limited growth. ° smaller audiences have higher chances of success. ° technological advancements are a major factor in getting quick cash to get the ball rolling. In this company of one philosophy,,, the company does not continuously aim higher. It sets the amount of money it needs to make. The goal should be to reach a specific audience. The more niche, the better. Forget about investing. Big up front. Focus on making small profits instead. So with this plan that I'm talking to you about, and in the current marketplace for alternative sports. The main plan here is if you want to stick around longer and be around to give more opportunities to players to play their game and to be able to enjoy a career in doing what they love, I will suggest to you to get this book by Paul Jarvis called the company of one. I read this book. It is business proof and how you can last longer. A lot of these new leagues need to start really focusing on solopreneurs. And just focus on a niche. Because currently as I'm speaking, Major League sports leagues are dominant and they have name recognition and they get the majority of the country's attention. Alternative sports leagues only get on average 3/4 of a percent at the most and to about 1/4 of a percent the least. So let's focus more on the people who show up to the games. Let's find different places where we can play the game where our niche audience can be accommodated. Maybe playing in major stadiums and big stadiums that seat about 67,000 will not be economically responsible or may not be physically profitable. Now DC or the defenders is a reasonable stadium because it accommodates less people so you're able to fill it easier. St. Louis is getting the traction because they're the only game in football that is there. Now. Mind you, this happened before with the Baltimore stallions of the CFL. When the NFL abandoned them all and went to Indianapolis, the fan base in that city was angry that the NFL did what they did to them. The mom of the NFL said we're coming back to Baltimore, the fans in that market abandoned the stallions. So what makes you think that if the NFL today decided to go to St. Louis or come back to St. Louis, the people of St. Louis will not abandon the Battle Hawks? You have to think about that. Logically we don't want to be the guinea pigs in any market. So My philosophy is the company of one philosophy which I ask all sports persons that are going to invest in an alternative football or sports markets or leagues or teams, to really focus primarily on the audience that's already there and to spend more time building relationships with those persons and not trying to extend beyond that. Greatest success story is a sports entertainment company by the name of the ovw which stands for Ohio valley wrestling. They have lasted long because they stayed in their market, particularly Kentucky, Ohio and parts of Tennessee. They stay within their little market area and they put on a hellified show nationally. They sell about 500 to 700 pay-per-view buys at about $14.99 for the pay-per-view and they do well with that. Now if I ran The UFL/usfl/xfl, I will pick the top four teams. Found out where our success is and I would go from there. Four teams is not a whole lot no, but if I'm successful and profitable with four teams then losing money on eight teams, I rather go with less than get more
@markb2773
@markb2773 19 дней назад
With respect Sir...I find it hard to believe people would stay interested watching only 4 teams playing each other. I agree with much of what you say and they need to be very careful with expectations of profit. Hopefully, the Owners want to build something over the years that could be terrific many years down the road as opposed to making big money quickly.
@Junior-ty5uh
@Junior-ty5uh 19 дней назад
@@markb2773 I also am very suspicious of Dwayne Johnson. Mainly because he's more into sports entertainment than really focused on this game. I am also very worried like all alternative football leagues. They last for one season or two seasons and you don't see them anymore. Now. I think the arena football league can make a strong comeback with the current leadership it has because they're indoors. But they have to find arenas that can accommodate The arena football game system. But the reason why I also said that I would rather have a league with four teams that are profitable than with 8 to 10 teams that I'm not profitable. Because as we're speaking, The UFL is saying 4 out of the eight teams have reasonable attendance records. But the other four have struggled to even fill a quarter of the stadium. And so they're not getting any advertising money. They're paying to be on these television networks. They're not getting a TV contract. So right there they're losing money cuz they're not getting big sponsors and they're not getting a television deal where they're able to sustain this thing for the Long haul. Four teams will never work because the interest will be pretty much out of here. But in this market , you may not really have much of a choice but to go with less teams if you want to stay relevant business wise
@richardclark5086
@richardclark5086 15 дней назад
If you’re going to have franchises , make sure to get owners who aren’t going to pull the plug after a handful of games or are only in it to hopefully have their team merge into the NFL. This happened when Trump had the NJ Generals (USFL) and the owner of the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL ) who took over ownership of the AAF and a few weeks later, folded the league. It will be difficult to get ownership willing to take on financial losses year after year with absolutely no forecast of profitability in the forceable future. The facts are there that no spring league football organization lasted more than a couple of seasons and that alone will keep any deep pocket entrepreneur from being all in . The UFL will survive only if it can stay out of cities that have the NFL and or have all 4 major sports leagues . Those cities are over saturated and it is an automatic financial disaster waiting to happen to put a UFL team there.

NFL stadiums are too big. MLS stadiums are too small (it’s been suggested to me that 40,000 is a needed average because of salary and INSURANCE costs. There’s a reason insurance was stated in all caps. College stadiums are rarely in cities of the size needed. Chances are that the state of Washington (owners of Lumen Field) and the Seahawks (operators of same) make more money from Seattle Reign (NWSL) than they would the Dragons. This is mostly because of less costs, and partly because lies, damn lies, and attendance numbers. Just an example to consider as to why some cities will never sniff the UFL. A truly viable league requires your own facilities. For football, since media money is absolutely necessary, that means sacrificing some better smaller city draws for larger TV markets. By the way, I laughed at the notion of this video citing the Timbers and Thorns as a good reason Portland is viable when, by nature of the UFL being a spring league, there won’t be available dates at Providence Park. Thing is… the Thorns will outdraw the UFL here. Already do overall.

In my opinion, the NFL is, in a word, dying. That probably won't happen overnight, but based upon current events and other factors, I can actually see the UFL having success as long as those influencing the NFL right now are kept from affecting the direction they wish to take. Would be interesting to see the UFL move into some of the areas the NFL has neglected, and see where things stand in 3 or 4 years.
