Right? The amount of times I see comments with guys saying they want 6f+ beds on midsize trucks. No wonder trucks are so huge... For the guys wanting bigger beds, get a fullsize. Keep the trucks sizes in their designated categories.
Great comparison! It seems I would be a Trail Boss guy as rear seat amenities, leather and gloss black mean a lot less to me than money left in my pockets. The Z71 does have some nice options and equipment that I probably would have liked to been able to pick and choose for the Trail Boss like heated seats and a sunroof but those are not deal breakers if they're not available. I don't have either on my '21 Colorado now, so I wouldn't miss them. But the availability would still be nice without having to jump the $3K USD to have a bunch of stuff the Z71 offers that is superfluous to a Trail Boss buyer. Maybe next year.
Was looking at both the z71 and trailboss Colorado and ultimately ended up buying the Z71 as I eventually found a dealer that was willing to work on price. Love the truck
I love the trail boss but wish it came with an option to add the 120 v outlets in the bed and passenger area. The towing capacity and the off road wide stance is what I love most about it.
I gave last year's model and love it but I was wanting more modern tech and feel interior was rather cheap this new one has all I can think of besides like the power back window and powered steps. Digging the yellow color that will be the color I choose
That dash is horrid, I love everything else but that dash might be the worst digital display I have ever seen put in a vehicle. The manual gauges would have looked better than whatever horrid shit that is. That looks like some half baked computer program, or like a monitor from the 80’s that’s used at some nuclear plant.
I just don't understand why the z71 has more accessories that would be used off road than the trail boss, when the trail boss is supposed to be the more off road package. I don't get it.
@@ryanwindham2997 the problem is the zR2 doesn't give you everything you want either. If you want max towing capacity, you have to stay with the lower trims. Kinda pisses me off.
Got one ready for order and you can NOT order one fully loaded. GM brags about the 360 cameras that you can’t even get. The cameras are part of the technology package and it is not available at this time and nobody knows when it will be for the ZR2 that I ordered. Unfortunately I canceled the order for it. GM needs to be fully honest with the promotions they are doing. I hope that information helps and thanks for the update on this platform
Trailboss should come with a selectable rear locker standard! I’m sure GM will correct this in later upgrades for this generation. Big miss initially on their part
The thing with the trailboss is it has the beefed up suspension and wider track like the ZR2. Its a work truck ZR2. Nothing nice, just built to off road. So to get Trailboss with heated seats, or to get a Z71 with the nice stuff witht he wider flares, you need the ZR2.
@@tomm1109 If think the Trailboss (2 inch lift) shares control arms and axles for the wider track, but suspension in the ZR2 sits higher and shocks are moved out in the rear. The Trailboss sits somewhere in between the Z71 (1 inch lift) and ZR2 (3 inch lift). (equal to the Canyon). I am thinking Z71 with 275/65R18 tires, 1.5 inch spacers, and TrailBoss fender flares will be pretty close.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff camping, hunting, fishing stuff. Most people that go outdoors would overfill those beds quickly. Truck beds are getting ridiculously smaller and smaller each generation, but to not even have the option of a 6’ bed with an extended cab and not a crew cab is crazy. But my statement is true if a truck bed can’t fit a real shovel in it it’s small…
@@stephenryan2206 I agree with you about the lack of a long bed being offered. I had a new 96 Sonoma extended cab with the long bed . In 2009. I bought a canyon extended cab with a long bed and they were just right for size. I had noticed over the past year that I would see crew cab Colorado’s with the long box and I thought well this is great, when they come out with the 2023s I will order it that way and now I find out they only offer the 5 foot bed. It’s pretty bad when you have to buy a Ford to get what you want.😢
I really wanted a Trail Boss back in I think 2021/22 but I was too late. GM stopped making them for the 2nd gen.. so I bought a Colorado V6 base model.
Why in the hell would you degrade your upper level models? And why would you not offer a full 6 ft. bed and v6? I have 2022 Z71 v6 crew w/long bed. I am very pleased that I chose my 22 although the 23 had potential, the outer looks don't make up for the degrade of the whole package!
I like the stance of the Trail Boss, but the Z71 has the nicer interior. Looked at a Trail Boss & the interior is way too basic. Probably going Z71 and adding a 2” lift.
The lack of a Crew Cab Long Box is a Big NO for me. I’ll hold on to my 2018 LT Colorado 4x4 CCLB for a long time and trade eventually for a full size truck and it won’t be GM
Great vid!! Been wanting to see the interior! I have a 2021. Wish I waited for this one! Do you think the plastic on the trucks will eventually dry out and turn grey!??
still can not belive they did not go with all led's for both models . also the z71 has less rims as far as the website . my z71 is on the way and the dealership is swapping the tires and putting on the black door handles that also was not on the build when i parted it out. cant wait. going to be like a hybrid of both of them
GM is allergic to power rear windows. In the midsized truck segment. It would make too much sense. Also, wireless charging in their 2nd generation was designed by a 3 year old as well.
like the TB color did you buy some bread from dodley's bakery next door ? I stoped there saw all the trucks in the parking lot and on the highway cant wait to drive one
Definitely looking closely at these. Currently have a full size trail boss but am interested when these come out for better gas mileage but I need to have a truck for my life style.
@@stevelawrie7270 I don’t think you’re gonna see a significant difference in fuel mileage tbh. To have the extra power, space, and towing capability I think your full size will still be a better option.
Get the Trail Boss, that’s what I did for 41,200,,it looks wider than the Z71 and it 2inches taller,,, it just looks better as you can see in this video!
Coming from selling these in the past… we would sell 10-1 short box vs. long box… I suppose that likely showed nationally as well which made their decision to only go with the one configuration. Maybe once they can ramp things up more you may see a longer variation… But not anytime soon, unfortunately
@@GeneralMotorsJeff I’m with ya! Haha I have a 2021 Tacoma and looking make the switch soon. Waiting to see the new Ford Ranger and Tacoma before pulling the trigger.
@@GeneralMotorsJeff yeah I had a ZR2 and Z71 in Maine with short beds, but a 6+ ft bed is so much more practical for everyday people. I'd rather go trail boss 1500 series today.
Don't understand some of the decisions. I bet most people would want the Trailboss with z71 interior/features. Shouldn't have to choose between the two. I like the look of the trail boss way more but want leather, etc. interior.
I would love to see a review were someone takes a 4x8 plywood sheet, to see what it looks like with the low wheel wells in the trunk and the new half tilt in the door latch in the back. My only issue with the mid size trucks. but it would be a nice thing to see how they sit before these trucks are released
It's the towing capacity with the ZR2 for me. 1700 lbs less than the lower trims is ridiculous to me. I know you lose more because it being more off road capable but gosh.
It would be cool if Chevy would let you option the winch and steel front bumper on the trail boss. Looks like Chevy went cheap no led lights on the trail boss and no push button rear locker. I don’t see a head light switch on the dash board.
@@coop4274 Go onto Chevy's website and build&price a 2023, click on the compare all trims. You'll see that only the ZR2 have the 11" driver information center. Or click the interior view of the ZR2, you will notice it has a larger gauge cluster than the Z71/LT/TB/WT. And GMC only has it on the AT4X and Denali, the AT4 and Elevation also have the 8" screen.
@@coop4274 have you looked at Chevy's site? It's right there in the spec that the 11 inch cluster is standard on the ZR2 (and not available on any other trim)
