Im so glad you called out the differences between BEASTARS and Zootopia. Zootopia is about racism, more specifically American racism, while BEASTARS is largely a world building exercise (this becomes more clear when you read the extra stuff in the manga).
I've said this many times. If Beastars was about anything else, vampires, monsters, ghosts, zombies, people wouldn't stop singing its praises. But because it's a furry anime people won't even give it a chance ;~;
I feel like that might be because most of those are portrayed as more humanoid then animalistic. Like the ratio of human traits is a larger percentage then animalistic/monstrous traits. Because personality, I like a more 70% humanoid 30% animalistic/monstrous. Now I understand that Beaststars is meant to be more animalistic then humanoid because is a furry anime. But because of that, it’s not for me. And that’s okay, I can watch something else that is for me. It’s kinda a comfortability thing. Personally, I’m not going to push through that because it’s simply not my thing. Just like how I don’t push through super sexualized animes, because those kinds of scenes make me uncomfortable. But if it were about those more humanoid characters, vampires, ghosts, monsters etc, I probably would watch it because it would fall in my comfort zone. TLDR: your right, but because when most people think of vampires/ ghosts/ monsters/ zombies, they think of more humanoid things. Not main characters that are more animal then human, which people can respectfully not enjoy. Disclaimer, not defending people who judge people for their interests. Watch what you like, and I’ll watch what I like, and people should just vibe.
@@Alistairisboredoutoftheirmind honestly extremely humanoid vampires / zombies/ ghosts / demons is too bland for me :u. Where is the cool character design? If you can make something cool and you choose anime girl with fangs it's kinda generic unless you have an actual reason for that. I don't even like horror, but when actual monsters can be unnatural or spooky it's cool. Even a musical line Nerdy Prudes Must Die can put a little bit of spookyness and coolness on the ghost design just with makeup and clothes and it's an actual person acting live. If it's like disney, where a revenant is literally just a pale guy with green hair and edgy clothes the, then the show really must be good in other aspects :/. Idc about anthros cause most can't really look that cool, but at least it helped make the designs more diverse and interesting and beastars uses it great even if the characters look unusually normal for a furry :u
I'm huge Beastars fan. Itagaki Paru sensei's writing and world building just so perfect. And her works nothing do with western concept of furry. She write manga about animal sociaty cuz she suck at drawing humans lol. I think most people hate it cuz they thought it going to be some cozy cartoonish show but in reality it was too realistic dark seinen and some people hate the anime cuz its 3D. But studio Orange is actually pretty good at 3D animation. I'm sure 2D studios can't animate beastars characters body language. One thing really disappointed me is they rushed the ending of season 2 and changed it from manga. But it was still pretty good. And if you like beastars, please do not join beastars fan communities. They full of horny furries who don't even understand the plot.
I loved it AND recommended it to friends who watched and enjoyed the first season. 2nd season was undeniably weaker, but we all agreed on that. Ahhh, the joy of us being three adult men who don't act like idiots because someone suggested us an anime with anthropomorphic animals. If people judge you for enjoying Beastars, they're simply immature. Also, it's not a "furry anime" in the first place. For the millionth time anthropomorphized animals =/= furries. Furries are rhe FANS of said anthropomorphic animals and will forever only refer to the fans. This is an anime that furries would enjoy, but its not a "furry anime".
Finally someone who knows the difference between an anthropomorphic character and a furry! I'm a furry and personally hate when I explain what a furry is to someone by saying "a furry is a person with an interest in anthropomorphic characters like Sonic the Hedgehog" and they're like "Sonic isn't a furry!" and I have to tell them to go back and read my message before they still don't get it and I have to explain more. I've even had arguments with people who are also in the furry community who believe this misconception that anthropomorphic characters are furries. I feel like this misconception is also a big factor for why people think that furries think they're animals when they don't.
My only problem is the dead looking 3d animation... but who wants to hand draw thousands of frames of anthropomorphic animals with fine details and weird angles
True bro Beastars is a masterpiece and I've watched both seasons in like 2 weeks or smth (not like how i usually do when I watch anime) and funnily enough it was the first one I finished. I recommended it to my friends but they refused to watch it only because it has 'furries' and even laughed at me for watching it. I mean they're missing out so, not ma problem :3
Beastars was my sister first anime and she like it. I was always thinking that hating on Beastars because it's furry is just a meme. I was in schock when I discovered that is a actual thing XD
what i like about the anime is that it fixe some of the mistake that Paru made. let's not forget that it was her first true manga and that she was pretty novice and it can show in some way.
I tell this joke when people talk about Beastars that goes "YALL aint foolin ME again. YOU can keep your softcore furry porn to YOURSELF!" but honestly i just have a limites capacity for sadness and that anime reaches it.
I commented a story about how I called trolled Beastar fans because they trolled Buddy Daddies in a different video about animes you hate for a certain reason T-T
Tenchi Muyo got wierd with Ayeka and Tenchi since Ayeka and Sasami where Tenchis Great Aunts :0 I actually really wanted Tenchi and Ryoko to get married. that and Tenchi was like 18 and Ayeka and Sasami where like 800 with their actual age. that gets a big wierd in animes tooo the i look like im 16 but actually im 20,000 years old is odd.
there is no fan erotic service in Beastars. Unlike other japanese fiction erotic scenes in Beastars usually serve as plot device the explore complex of the characters.
I’ve only read the manga so idk about the anime but BEASTARS has some of the fastest pacing out of anything I’ve read or watched apart from maybe Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsawman
"that happens all the time in other anime as well" And it's shit there, too, but at least they're not *animals*. I don't understand what's not to get there
You're looking at this with the wrong mindset. These "animals" walk on two legs, talk, wear clothes, and are capable of complex thought processes. That's more human than anything.
@@RoxasOnSummerVacation I should have phrased my sentence better. 'MOST' not all. I've meet a few and out of those few... they were like Karen's in Costumes. The littlest stuff... oh brother, don't even get me started. You can say that they look weird (The painful truth of reality) and 'MOST' of them would be prepared for WW3. Same thing with the He/She/They/Them crap.... The smallest stuff with set them on fire. shotting... or in this case, 'Barking'.
beastars or zootopia? whether you like it or not I'm going for zootopia its probably because zootopia doesn't tries to be furry even with the racism shit beastars on the other hand looks like a good thing and it is I was going to watch it until I saw one to two clips that are just beyond my thinking for furries 😳 then I just forgot about watching it and I haven't watched it ever since 😅
there is i think 2 10s scene with the rabbit but nothing happen and it does serve a purpose to explain the psyche of herbivore and the little female rabbit character (its not just some tasteless fanservice). aside from that its pretty much a josei/seinen, mystery noir detective, sometime shonen training manga.
There are no "furry parts". People don't seem to understand what a furry is. A furry is a person with an interest in anthropomorphic characters. That's all a furry is and there's nothing wrong with it.
It's an anime that appeals to furries but it's not a furry anime. It wasn't aimed towards a furry audience like BNA was. It's just used as a creative choice to allow more unique conflicts to take place.
Beccause Beastars makes no sense. It doesn´t work as allegory, the story is nonsensical, the mysteries are awful, the romance is awful, the story is unfocused and jumps from topic to topic. It doesn`t conclude one arc before it starts the next, with a different character being the focus. The main character is unlikeable and unrelateable. The artstyle while subjective looks like shit because of the CGI. But all of that can be opinions and the objective faults can be forgiven, if the worldbuilding wasn`t such a horrendous mess.
