Glad you got the Single Cab, sounds like a lot of hassle to get it legal, but the small glimpse of it is kinda exciting! Yay! Plus, at least now you have it in the shop and you can do what you do to prep for that adventure... where ever that is.
Old vw mechanic swore by stock vw oil filters for water cooled vw. Said they had pressure relief in them. 20 years later first time I’ve actually heard of filter blowing up. Good luck

I had the same problem with my Ghia after putting in "improved" EMPI oil pressure relief springs which raised oil pressure to 130psi (!) D'oh! Put the original spring back in and now have great oil pressure.
here's what to do. get rid of that aftermarket pump and filter, put the stock one back on and change ur oil once a month! and one more thing, clean ur oil screen!
Good vid, you can do a visual on your oil pump flange to know if its a 30mm pump because they are thicker and require longer studs to accommodate it.....just saying
You could check the spring on the oil piston my be aftermarket and not correct to. A Berg Pressure relief cover would help to keep Filters on also a high performance application filter like a wix 5151 k&n 3001 or fram HP1 have a thick can that can hold pressure. Good luck
Dang thats a great filter. Consider that Berg Pressure relief cover. I would be tempted to pull those bypass springs and plungers & confirm they are correct for your application. I run that cover and a 30mm pump with a k&n 3001 filter no blowouts ever I can run 20-50 but I run 1-30
Read up on the bypass oil pump cover there are a few people who make them. The bypass plungers and springs may be the aftermarket pressure booster type.
