NOTIFICATION SQUAD: Don't deny it. You wanted to see Ryotaro get run over by the patronisingly slow self-driving cart as much as I did. A MASSIVE thank you to you all for tuning into the Abroad in Japan channel - whether you're new here and are still wondering who the hell we are, or have been watching since the dawn of time (which is 2012). I never thought we'd make it this far and I'm hoping we can do something extra special in 2021! Bring on some serious "pork tactics." (Seriously though, how does Ryotaro invent these phrases?!).
@@Chris-be3pi I'm ambidextrous but I always eat at the dinner table with my left hand because I always get a kick of how freaked out people get when they realize they're sitting next to a left-handed guy at the table
I am thinking about dropping out of school to focus on my career as a star on RU-vid. I already make a lot of money on RU-vid. School bores me so much. I need more opinions and since I don't have any friends, I gotta ask you, turin
@@AxxLAfriku dont drop out of school, keep youtube as a side gig and iff after school it makes enough money to support you and isnt something like a fad that will die in a year then switch to full time youtube then
Jokes aside, Ryotaro seems like a genuinely good friend. Congratulations Chris and hopefully I will get the chance to actually visit this year after my trip was cancelled last year.
To be honest, I wonder what RU-vid is doing as far as subscribers go, given that I AM a subscriber and I didn't even find out this video existed until 2 months in. The only way I found it is a click through from a video on Sharla's channel that happened to have Ryotaro in it. So yeah, I guess I'm one of the 1.5 Million that came from him. Anyway, great content, お疲れ様、乾杯!
Japan is full of surprises I freaking love that about it. One of my favourite nights is my friend and I stumbling on a BBQ garden at the top of a department store in Shinjuku with my friend. I was wishing we had more of our friends with us and some food to cook.
Emperor Ryotaro walking out onto the balcony to gaze over his land as he serenades his people with a beautiful rendition of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, was something I never knew I needed to see but will stay with me forever.
I don't get it why the channel doesn't have more subscribers or views the channel is gold!!!!!!!!! Hope Chris has more then 10-20 mil. subscribers in the near future he would deserve it with the work he is putting up in the videos :)
Ryotaro before & after drinking is like a whole different person. Before he seems calm and composed. After he's singing Madonna, banging into doors and trying to jump to touch the ceiling.
This channel has become so good ... Chris just keeps raising his standards and increasing the amount of work he puts into the videos. Really they are an absolute jewel of RU-vid. Thanks for constantly putting out such great content for those of us who love Japan!
He's just really talented at making good travel journalism. It's not even so much the Japan aspect of this channel that I love. It could be Abroad in, I dunno, Uruguay... and I'd still watch it religiously. Chris is just such a natural host.
I love how Ryotaro is like a golden retriever: Showering Chris with love and good food to show friendship And Chris is like a cat: The more he's dismissive and acts like he doesn't care, the more he actually cares xD
Its very typical of us Brits to be "uncaring" and make fun of each other, it builds a stronger bond. If your British friend insults you a lot, you know they think highly of you.
more ryotaro on abroad in japan means more attention for him and he shouted out his youtube channel which gets ad revenue, so in a way chris is paying for it like a mutual agreement although it isn't like that technically, friends gonna be friends and i think there great friends lool
@@yumiko579 that's true but they've known each other for a long time and Ryotaro has always been generous so I don't think it is definitely not a business type transaction. His channel is also relatively new and they do cross over each other. They are definitely great friends. :)
@@Eli-of4nn Based on all the fried food and sweets they've been eating lately, I'd say he's going for a heart attack. 😂 (Take care Chris, if you read this. High cholesterol ain't a joke.)
As a right-handed person whos married to a left-handed person I can assure you, that we did in fact not figured this table war out yet (7 years and counting). It happens fairly often that we switch seats mid-meal :D
@@Thumtwiddler My sister is a lefty too and we've always set the table for her inverted. My husbands family never did that, he adjusted and also never did that for himself. He was so confused when I set the table for him with everything inverted. So I stopped doing that. But his utter confusion was so funny to watch, he really didn't know what was going on :D
I'm not left-handed, but I grew up eating with the left-handed settup, so whenever me and my uncle had dinner in a restaurant together, we always had this connumdrum
I like that you're choosing to show yourself speaking more Japanese with the locals, I don't think it's alienating to the audience at all and makes you appear more respectful and relatable!
I really enjoyed this too! To see Chris actually interacting with the people showing him around instead of them just awkwardly standing there while he speaks English was really nice. Felt more authentic.
The closest I've come to it so far was this video last year, though I'd definitely love to do more! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gFnV499BBqY.html
Just as Chris was saying about how people in Japan characters switch after drinking alcohol and reveal their deepest dark secret, we now finally know what Ryotaro thinks of Chris by referring to him as 'Chris Bored'
What I absolutely love about Japan is, how adequately they can turn any common/prosaic/possibly uninteresting activity into celebration and art. As here, you never "just" drink water in Japan. You are uniting with universe by drinking it.
I’m going to be honest, Ryotaro and Chris are legitimately the best duo on RU-vid. I would say Natsuki and Chris but let’s be real when natsuki is in the video, it just becomes a natsuki video not Chris video haha, he steals the whole show!
True indeed. Chris makes or lets Natsuki talk so much that he occupies whole screen timing whereas Ryotaro and Chris works as a team talking back and forth throughout the video.
The best part is they're like brothers, messing, congratulating with each other in a positive way. Ryotaro is like the exploring younger brother and Chris is the old man.
Probably not. Ryotaro is allergic to alcohol and doesn't actually drink. He forced himself, at the behest of the brewery owner, to taste the sake at the stream so as not to be disrespectful, and immediately regretted it. This from the podcast.
What the heck are you doing releasing this video so late in Japan? Pretty sure you stayed up all night finishing the damn video. But honestly thanks for that sacrifice, I really enjoy all your content 😁
Even though he tried to “kill” you, several times now over the years, both of you always end up at nicer places and unique activities. So congrats on 2 M subs Chris ‘Bored’ and Ryotaro, we’d love to see more of you bantering over cool Japanese culture.
Heya Chris, I just wanted to let you know I was watching RU-vid videos late at night, about to fall asleep, when this autoplayed. My eyes weren't completely in focus (as can happen when you're tired) and when I saw the abundance of red on screen combined with the music my brain filled in the rest and imagined I was looking at a horrific scene of bloody guts and suddenly I became much more awake and incredibly disturbed. A second later my eyes could make sense of what I was looking at and I became very annoyed that it was some flipping Tengu decorations that caused me such distress. So yeah, thought you would appreciate knowing that happened.
IDK why... But whenever I watch this guy's videos, I feel like I'm there with him. when you lay down in bed and watch these videos, you enter absolute peace.
There’s also an equally hilarious, “bald British guy who speaks Russian and young Russian guy who speaks English and gets drunk all night in town” that’s also out there.
Right... they kill an animal for show and find it remarkable when people don't let it go to waste. Guess that's the saddest part of the video right there.
Watching your show truly makes me feel like I'm reading a super indepth book that allows me to escape my reality and just enjoy watching pure bliss of You, Natsuki, Royotaro, dr Jelly guy just having fun respectfully, and still have a plethora of educational gains about Japan and its beautiful culture.
@@AmeAnimation haha, that's fair enough! As long as you're aware of it. As empowering as these various "you can do whatever you set your mind to" messages can be, they often ignore that different circumstances play an enormous role on what a particular individual can realistically actually do. A lot of people forget that success stories like Chris's are often a result of being "in the right place, at the right time", which is outside of any individual's control.
日本人ですが毎日見てますよ!!!応援してます! I'm watching this mainly for listening practice. I'm learning English. It's good opportunity to realize how great our Japanese culture is. Keep going!
Slightly drunk Ryotaro is a national treasure. Seriously I was laughing all throughout the vid, maybe try to slightly inebriate Ryotaro first before letting him appear in a vid from now on lol.
Man, Ryotaro has such a kind and fun personality. And he always tries his best to be the perfect host to Chris and show him (and us) the top best of Japan. Keep the content with him coming, Chris!
You’re a nice chap Chris! Good hearted and hard working. Thank you for the great videos you’ve done over the years. You manage to communicate what Japan is like well and through your videos it shows how much you’ve loved that country and it’s culture. Keep the good work and I hope to meet you one day.
We rarely see Chris show off his Japanese, so it was really fun and motivating to see him use it for once. More Japanese from you Chris! Keep up the good work.
Just wanted to say that your videos are a joy to watch and a great way to relax when life it tough in the pandemic. Feels like we get to explore Japan too! Thank you for your hard work making all these!
Congrats on 2 million subscribers! You and your friends are so charismatic and funny you could make any country look incredible, and you have inspired me and so many people to want to visit Japan someday. Thanks for all the great videos!
I think this was the most "Abroad in Japan" episode one could be. Roasting, affirmation of alcohol, good food and splendid views. Perfect 2 million sub celebration
