Remember, we're not comparing ALL of Texas to NYC. The video is comparing AUSTIN to NYC. Living in Austin is *way* more expensive than most of the rest of the state. Broad Oaks Ranch, an hour outside of Houston, for example, is on the market for $29.5m, which gets you 18 beds, 18 baths, 1308 acres (about 2 square miles worth) with an 8-acre lake. So $50m in Texas could make you live pretty outrageously if you found the right area. (Yes, I know that you get less space in NYC because part of what you're paying for is convenience/access to the city/views. Everybody knows that lol. I am only pointing out that because Texas is so big, you can get even more than what this video shows if you live outside of the Texas triangle.)
@johndunn6917
@johndunn6917 5 месяцев назад
I understand what you're saying, but also consider where the NYC apartment is located - probably the most expensive area of the State of New York. So its a fair comparison, I believe. I bet you could get a lot more for 50 million elsewhere in NY, just like you can get much more in TX away from Austin.

Yes but location is also important. A 30,000 sq ft mansion with 30 rooms in the middle of the Amazon rainforest being hundreds of miles from civilization would cost $100,000. Location is just as important as size. That’s why living in New York City is so expensive. There’s over 200 skyscrapers and it’s one of most known city’s in the entire world.

Theres a bit of a claustrophobic and inhumane feeling about the appartment where you are surrounded by glass walls, and the only terrain is hundreds of meters below you. I feel like some primal instinct always wants there to be some level terrain around so you can escape. I really can't decide though because that view is amazing. Mabye i'd pick the appartment if i could fill it with plants and redecorate it a bit more relaxing and natural vibe rather than elegant.

Thing about Texas is you have to take into account how far away you are from places like restaurants and activities. In nyc you can walk out your front door and you have everything you could ever want within steps. Same as entertainment. There is non stop entertainment options right outside your door every single night. That isn’t the case in Austin or Texas. While the privacy and seclusions is nice, it’s also amazing to have non stop things to do at any moment.
@Tommy71998
@Tommy71998 7 месяцев назад
You are partially correct there… I live in Austin, and yes you'll need a car, but there's something great about all the space… While I love New York City, Austin is a special town that is quite lovely. Though we do not have the culinary delights New York City has to offer, there are a few very good restaurants here. One thing I would point out is the property in Austin featured is worth nowhere near $50 million. It's a nice chunk of land and the home has an interesting design, but the interior design is really abstract and boring. The interior designer really missed the mark. I have been in a couple of $50 million homes and unfortunately that one doesn't compare. What it really needs is a Grass tennis court. That would be the touch of class that Austin sometimes misses.

It's all fun and games in the NY apartment until you have another pandemic shutdown and can't go outside to enjoy nature. Having your own PRIVATE compound of nature; trees, gardens, and lake is something that can't be compared to living in a concrete home, even if it has great views---you will eventually get tired of it. However, when you are close to nature and animals and birds chirping and tranquility and clean air, you will thank God during a pandemic.

Texas all day, everyday , 3 times on Sunday. The space, the land are far more valuable. In Texas you are buying a mansion/compound. In NYC your buying a big apartment. Texas you have easier accessibility of the home itself attractions, amenities ect. The cost of living is lower. Also with 6 acres of land you can upgrade and expand increaseing value. This is my short answer lol. However if im spending that kind of money i want something more valuable that views of Central Park.

Personally id enjoy owning more land like in the texas property, although the design isnt really for me either, id be able to do more with more space and expand but realistically id choose the NYC apartment as an investment because at the end of the buy these ultra expensive properties are used to store money, most owners dont even live in them for that reason, and a apartment is always going to be more secure than a open property as most of the time there is either 1 way in or out, which depending on what your work is, can really be a decision maker.

If I had to choose it would be New York. The whole city is your playground and it would be more fun to have family over for holidays and trips and have them meet in NYC. Plus if you are raking in billionaire money you could just have a small cabin on a lake in the US somewhere to cover the Texas house advantages.

My christmas tree would not fit in well anywhere... What a shame! Also we stayed in the Russel house in Massillon Ohio and the way the house flowed outmatched either of these mega homes. The dining room had swiveling doors on either side of the butlers pantry leading into the kitchen. The library had just a cozy feeling. The entryway had a sense of grandeur that is incredible. Amount of natural light was blinding, in a good way. The way the stained glass in the dining room just glowed when the sun was shining on it was breathtaking. Floating staircase is impressive considering the house is a century old. The tubs are big enough for you to sleep in. You can run around the house for hours exploring! Texas house seems like it would get way too hot at 3:00 ish. I love the dining room of the house though! The New York house would have to be more cozy. Also don't be sponsored by better help anymore, they steal data.

It all comes down to your life, what you do for a living and your preferences. Whit that kind of money I’d prefer to buy a couple of properties in southern Italy, one in Capri one in Sardinia (or Sicily), then again a property in the Basque region of Spain, a pied-à-terre in Manhattan; I’d invest the leftovers in the financial market and use the gains for maintenance.

I viewed a 40 story condo for rent overlooking the Boston harbor, I felt very cut off from the rest of the world even for 15 minutes while up there, and studies show anyone above the 20th floor probably won't survive a heart attack, and 3 floors and below keeps people connected to their hood and people. I can't live in a tower but it is interesting to watch and look at.

I'm not that impressed by the Texan compound tbh. It looks like the average Nordic house expo building that costs 3 million € at most, aside from the surface material choices. The people living in the house somehow gave a nice impression through the personal stuff they had left visible around the place. I really liked the Texas place, it gives off a thoroughly Nordic vibe, but I don't think it's actually worth $50m, just by the looks. I could totally imagine living there tho. The NYC one still manages to impress. There, I couldn't really ever live, those windows give me a huge acrophobic panic even if the view is gorgeous. Overall, the image still is far more luxurious and I really like those guest rooms.
