In this video, I would like to give you a tour of our 600 EUR/month apartment in the city of Valencia, Spain.
If you are thinking of moving to Valencia, I hope this video can help you in making a decision for a place to rent.

I had an apartment on calle Cadiz in russafa for 16 years. I sold it 2 years ago just before covid hit. Reason? If your bedrooms and balconies overlook the street be prepared for it to be noisy all night once all the covid restrictions have been lifted. Those outside bars and terraces attract stag/hen weekenders, office parties, drunk students etc. Not a party pooper but it can get on top of you, especially in summer when you want to leave the windows open!

that is true. Luckly for me this part of the street is not very busy, the closest bar is 1 street away

in winter It can get chilly in drafty apartments. Cheapest solution is the butano heater. It has some downsides, but gives a lot of heat. ;)

Well done video tour - especially the basic layout on paper. Just curious as to what your internet connection speed is? We lived in Mons, Belgium 2000-2005 and were surprised at how fast (then) the downloads and uploads were compared to the States. Subscribed and thank you, Jen and Andy :)

Hey Andy, thanks for the comment. Internet speeds in the city are very good (~500Mbps and low latency). Since my office is far from where the Wi-Fi router is, signal is weak. I wired up Ethernet cable all the way to my office and the speed is better than with Wi-Fi.

Good to hear. We brought some stuff over from the UK but I would say we spent 4-5K EUR to furnish. The bed alone was 1K €

Do the thin walls also make you hear everything your neighbors are up to? (Are there any buildings in Valencia where the walls *aren't* paper thin?)

Yes you can hear through some times. That's just the reality when living in most flats. If that's a concern then maybe a detached house would be a better option

What is the drinking water quality like? Does it have lots of chlorine in it?

its not good for drinking. The water is very hard. Early on I purchased an osmosis system which filters the water and it tastes great

What about taxes in Spain? These are extremely high (45% income tax and you do not need to be rich to have your income taxed with this rate). Living there makes sense only if it's less than 183 days a year.

En España es obligatorio el ascensor a partir del 4º piso de altura.

@@LucasGuanes Siempre. Por obligatorio. Antes de los años 60 muchos pisos se construían de 4 plantas sin ascensor. Los más altos si eran sencillos no tenían ascensor .5 plantas no más Luego fué obligatorio instalar a esos pisos. Años 80 más o menos Y la gente rica tenía siempre ascensor . No llegaba a la buhardilla.

it came by after a lot of research done by my wife. 2 key factors for the price, it is unfurnished and it covid probably contributed

Hey Ana, yes we were very lucky, the price also reflects that it was unfurnished, so we had to purchase everything except fridge and washing machine

600 total, without any bills or parking spot. Remember its unfurnished. Still, it was Covid prices. Right now it would cost 700-750

That's right, roughly 70m2. There are also much larger ones in the city, but much more expensive. Outside the city, for the same price, you can get a newer and larger one.
