I use the mug press for tublers with the silicone inserts from Amazon. 4 min, then 2 min, flip, 4 min then 2 min. Frustrating to have to do it 4 times but works perfectly. Maybe I will get a tumbler press one day but I just do it for personal use and not retail so can't see spending the money for it.
I also used my Cricut mug press, to press 20 ounce tumblers. Because I knew in advance that the lights might not work I just timed them for like five minutes or so. And then rotated them flipped them, etc. The heat does not go off when the lights stop working. Mine sublimated perfectly and didn’t think it was too much work. I also used the PYD LIfe inserts, using the thickest one. No need to waste time with shrink wrap. I just used some copy paper, like I always do with my mugs, to protect the press. If I had a business and wanted to do more than just a couple, I would definitely invest in a tumbler press.
Hi Flossie! This is a sublimation design that was heat pressed on to the tumbler. You can find the design here: designbundles.net/digitail-designs/1493030-magic-potion-halloween-tumbler-sublimation-bundle?ref=uaruil - Dawn
Love the video! May I ask when designing the tumbler in creative studio would you choose metal or stainless steel? I know that you drag and drop it in print manager. Thank you! Sharon :)
what would happen, if you left the tumbler with the shrink on....lets say you got a phone call and came back 30 mins later....still come off with ease??
Love watching your videos, my daughters and I have started getting everything we need to sublimate. Quick question, which program do you recommend if you want to edit a design?
I have a Epson F570 I’ve only used it to make shirts. I have 2 Cases of Tumblers I keep saying I’m going to try. This may motivate me to try. Good Pointers!!! 🎉
Wow,thanks for using our PYD Life sublimation tumblers, any chance for further cooperation? We also have many types of sublimation glass tumblers, sublimation ceramic mugs and sublimation stainless tumblers.
Unfortunately you can see the last tumbler stained the Cricut mug press. What can you use safely to remove the sublimation ink, without compromising your warranty, so it doesn't press the ink on to your next project?. Ink staining is my main anxiety with my mug press.
Hey there! Thank you for watching and although we were using this method as a test, we wouldn't want anyone to do anything to void their warranty! Let us do the testing for you! Alcohol will help remove the ink.
I use the mug press w/butcher paper. I also use a metal stirrer when i press the top cup so that it doesn't go all the way down. I press 6 mins rotating every 2 and they come out perfect
You can use a convection oven for sublimation but for safety, once you have used the oven for sublimation it should no longer be used for cooking food.
Hi Beatriz! What other types of sublimation projects are you working on besides tumblers? What type of oven is it? We can check up with the brand and description! - Dawn
Not knowing what I’m talking about I wonder if you could cut a circle of something to cover the bottom of the mug press to prevent the shrink wrap from sticking to the bottom 🤔. Love all your videos.
That was interesting to see three different ways to sublimate tumblers. So a toaster oven would work as well? That would be great because they are a lot less expensive and something I could manage.
@@DesignBundles is there anything specific to look for in an oven at yard sale to ensure great sublimation outcome? Like setting that are needed vs settings that aren't necessarily needed thank you.
@designbundles What paper cutter are you using in this video? I have already bought two and neither one has an obvious line that allows me to eyeball the edge of the printed area so I can trim right along the edge cleanly. One just has a narrow valley under the blade but the blade is centered so I have to guess about 1/16th of an inch either way where the blade will hit. I thought I'd upgrade to Fiskars brand because it has a wire guide. Well, that guide is at a slight angle so the cuts are also at an angle if I use that to eyeball the edges.
Thank you for this great video. I'm afraid to try sublimating tumblers. I use a convection oven to sublimate glass beer cans. Why is it that the subli shrink is so so hard to remove? I stopped making this glasses because I was not successful taking it off. And too many ruined glasses because the sublimation didn't transfer dark enough (ghosting). Do you think it is the subli shrink or is it the temp? What am I doing wrong? Please help. What time and temp would you use? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi Irene, we would love to help. Could you please let us know what program you are using for sublimation and possibly the products you are using? - Dawn 🙂
Hi Susan! You can use the mug press for a tumbler, but because of the size difference you would have to press the bottom first and then flip it and reheat the top! - Dawn
After you heat the sublimation on the tumbler, do you have to add a clear coat or epoxy over it in order for it not to transfer when washed or to protect the sublimated image on the tumbler? Also, does the shrink wrap just hold the image tight while it heats or does that provide a clear coat over it? I'm thinking about investing in making these, but want to make sure I understand the process. Thank you!
You don't need coating for sublimation. Once you sublimate its "in" the coating and not going anywhere. Shrink Wrap only serves to hold the design tightly on the tumbler
@@DesignBundles I wish I had a convection oven for more options unfortunately I don't have the space. I seen another video where they put butcher paper on the bottom (on the metal part). I do this too. It would help keep the shrink wrap from melting onto it.
I’m getting ready to try my first tumblers and I see everyone using tape but I haven’t seen anyone use adhesive spray so I was wondering is it not recommended for tumblers because it’s not food safe or does it leave a film on the cup?
Hi Davita! One of the printers is a Sawgrass SG500 and the other is a Canon InkJet. The Craft Pro is great and may we also recommend the Stahl's A2Z Swing Away Heat Press - Dawn 🥰
I'm returning my tumbler press. It doesn't matter how well I tape my tumbler and how tight my pressure is, it won't press the ink into the very top of my tumblers. I end up with white spots. When I make my tumblers in my convention oven, they come out perfect with no white spots.
My biggest fear when it comes to turning it. Like if how much of a turn to make once its time to turn the tumbler in the heat press. I want to try this so bad. I have OCD so it has to be right.
It can be hard with crafts to always make everything 100% right ! Have patience you are doing amazing! And if you need any additional help let me know!
I use the tape line, sublimate it with the tape in the front, then turn it so the tape is in the back. Flip, repeat. Never had an issue. But I don’t use shrink wrap so
Hi Lori ! If you mean the designs they can be found here 👇 go.designbundles.net/tumbler_wrap go.designbundles.net/magic_potion go.designbundles.net/Cherry_skull I print them on my sublimation printer and then they are ready to be pressed 🤗
Hey Alicia! Thank you for watching! This was great to have 3 different tumblers with 3 different heating methods. Do you normally use a convention oven for sublimation? Any tips that help you?
Hey there! Thank you for clearing that up and we are glad you stopped by to watch the video! If you have any questions, please let us know. We are here to help if you need us!
