Amazing video, thanks again Kait 😊 I’m not sure if it’s coz I’m not cooking it correctly, but I dislike the texture of chicken skin and beef fat so I throw it away ngl 😂 I make up for it with other good fat sources though!
Protien meal-1 grass fed beef pattie 21 grams 3 Pasture-raised eggs 18 grams 1 serving unsweetened Greek yogurt with grass-fed chocolate whey protein powder mixed in. ( topped with a few organic blueberries;) Thanks for the insights, Kait. Focusing on protein has helped curb late night cravings. Keep up the great work!😉❤
I've observed that animal protien leaves me satiated. Plant/dairy protein doesn't even come close. In fact I feel even more hungry. My looks, health & mood improved beyond measure after I went carnivore.
I shoot for about 40-50g protein per meal. Recent studies have shown that you can even go upwards to100g per meal and you will still utilize all of that protein throughout the day. I often take a simple whey shake ( water and whey) fast absorbing with my breakfast to start my day.
I usually do 2 eggs, 2 mini beef sticks, and a thing of cheese for break-fast, which is about 30 grams, then a 1/2 pound ground beef for lunch. Greek yogurt with chia seeds as a snack, then usually chicken for dinner and a whey shake for desert. A nice luck i do alternatively would be a big pouch of tuna covered with turmeric and cayenne, that about 40 grams protein.
My breakfast is often three eggs and a non-starchy vegetable. On the eggs I might put Kraft Parmesan Cheese or some red/green salsa. To bump up my protein to 30 grams, I would add either an extra egg or drink a cup of Swanson organic bone broth to add another 9-10 grams of protein with no carbs.
I reached roughly 8lbs above my target weight doing keto and have been stuck there (within a 3 lbs range) for months. Some weeks I’m down a couple of lbs, and sometimes up a couple. I never realized that I needed to hit a minimum of 30g of protein. Not only have I struggled to lose weight but I have been in TEARS because of hair loss! I’m definitely going to change a few things! I generally do intermittent fasting and only eat two meals a day. Both meals, I will be targeting at least 30 grams of protein. Also, I used to add collagen to my morning coffee and stopped for some reason, I’ll be starting that again as well!
I just tried to eat 30g of protein for lunch and just can’t do it. Combination of HB eggs and sausage. I think that I need to switch to things like steak or chicken where I get more protein per ounce! I DID add collagen to my coffee this morning!
morning Kait, it's 0500 and can't sleep(yuck). Anyway, you are starting to alarm me! Well, not really, but lately I've been trying to visualize what 30g of protein looks like so I make sure I'm getting enough(I'm not!)...and voila - here you are!!!! Are you reading my mind? Do I need to start wearing my aluminum hat? 😆😆😆I'm joking of course, but again - right on time! Thank you.
Oh man! This just helped me connect something... I started using pea protein recently and while it felt good during my workouts, I started having more high blood sugar issues out of nowhere. I wasn't adding in any carbs whatsoever so I was confused. I knew that high protein can cause glucose spikes as well for some of us, but I completely didn't think the fat aspect of keeping it in check. 🎉
Top daily protein sources, cheese and peanut butter. Some days ka'chava but only some days because I'm not real crazy about the amount of added sugar or high number of carbs in it. Every 3 or 4 months, I'll go to my local wholesale store and buy a couple packs of beef and eat that every day for a couple weeks.
thank you Kait...You have helped me a lot with my type 2 journey...You are such a good coach...And your really pretty too😉🥰 Blessing to you from Toronto Canada....
It doesn't matter because the amount of protein isn't the same as the weight of the meat. Google it. One chicken thigh has about 20 grams of protein. It doesn't matter whether it's cooked or not.
Great video! Practical and useful information. I consume 1 gm of protein per pound of my ideal body weight (98 kg = 216 pounds = 216 gm protein). Unfortunately, it's hard to find grass-fed and grass-finished produce. Also, organic is still not the same as GF and GF.
Sardines, even the cheapest ones that sell for $1 a can have 25 grams of protein. Chicken drumsticks at $4 a kilo would be the cheapest source of protein.
I have read that camel meat almost has the highest volume of protein and minerals! here in Austria is practically impossible to have but I am sure there are wild camels in Australia and u can hunt them. so fresh and has no chemicals
If youre dairy intolerant, cant tolerate more than one egg per serving it makes getting enough protein for every meal hard! I use a pea protein powder for lack of other option
Just curious, is there a reason I never see influencers recommending Icelandic Skyr yogurt over Greek Yogurt? Doesn’t it have significantly more protein and active good bacteria compared with Greek Yogurt? At least the ones I’ve compared side-by-side it seems that way.
@@HealthCoachKaitYes, definitely check them out if they are available in your area! I buy two brands: Icelandic Provisions and Siggis. Obviously, the full fat non-flavored ones. It’s also DELICIOUS and THICK lol my fiancé doesn’t like how thick it is, but I actually prefer yogurt like that, rather than gloppy and runny. Just depends what you’re eating it with. From what I remember on the label, it’s pasteurized, but they add back in some very beneficial strains of bacteria. It’s like 18 grams of protein per serving.
I have a terrible time getting my minimum, 120 grams per day. Until I found out how much protein I was supposed to have, I was getting 35 to 45 grams per day, all my adult life. I got away with it more or less for 40 years, then my hair fell out. Like, it just dropped out. Since then, I've been increasing my protein consumption and a lot of my hair grew back, but 100 grams is my top most days. I just physically have a hard time eating that much protein, even with whey powder.
good video, i have salad with half an avocado and olive oil every night and either salmon, beef or chicken as the protein and i hit that gym 3x a week for about an hour also,🏋♂💪🦵🫀 i walk 3-4 miles everyday. my bedtime snack is blueberry greek yogurt with half a scoop of whey protein in it and some pumpkin seeds on the side. thanks for the great info Coach!!! 😉
Ok so Im diabetic and have chronic kidney disease (stage 3B) my kidney doc wants me to only have plant based protein,,,,,, I've just decided to cut back my meat to one serving per day.. What do you think?
I make a blueberry cheesecake smoothie for lunch every day. Has a fair bit of protein. I use 1 serve Greek yogurt, 1 serve cottage cheese, 250ml almond milk, 2 scoops of protein powder (salted Caramel flavour) and a handful of frozen blueberries. Yummm
Your doctor is using old data. That data comes from tests done back in the 80s when they were trying to debunk Atkins, but they were using a lab-created protein goo, not real food. When they tested again decades later using real food, they found none of the ill effects found in the first studies. Your problem may be your kidney function, or you aren't drinking enough water (most Americans are chronically dehydrated), or a heart problem, just to name a few possibilities. If it were me, I would start by drinking more water. You would be surprised how many problems come from dehydration. Gallbladder, kidney stones, macular degeneration, the list is very long.
Are you native to Australia? I don't pick up on any accent. You sound like me --from the US or Canada. With one exception, I don't know anyone here that says fillet (with the "t" sound at the end). Thanks for all your effort, knowledge, & tips. ~Mary
I’m from Canada originally but have lived in Australian since 2015 and have dual citizenship now. Only Americans don’t say the T in fillet 😉 You guys give me a hard time for that one and saying the H in herbs hahaha
I can't eat frikkin eggs rn cuz they cause stomach cramps..I was fine at one point..but it will cause heart palpitations due to the stomach issues I notice.
Because if you don't consume at least 30 grams of protein per meal, you're probably not going to get your full allotment of protein in every day. My ideal weight is 120 pounds, so I should be consuming 120 grams of protein every day. 30 grams at 3 meals per day isn't usually enough for me to get 120 grams per day, even with snacking.
@@HealthCoachKait I used to have lot of legumes and grains entirely dependent upon plant based protein. Milk,soy... I from India so I brought up eating this for almost 22 year period and I used to have lot of acne problem from teenage years which taken it as a causation of hormonal changes. Rarely I used to eat chicken and eggs. I used to be fat then I lost weight Acne problem still it is persisting As following this diet which not only made my gut feeling bad , pushing through fatigue , low muscle mass , skin issues .. And piss me off sometimes people say going vegan is healthiest option. And simply gave it thought how could be able to fulfill 30g of protein for every meal that too in India.
Fat first, protein second. 1g per 1 kg of body weight is all that's needed to maintain OR GAIN muscle mass. See studies by Dr. Loon of the Netherlands.
I looked up Dr. Loon's research. He actually found that there is NO upper limit to anabolic response to protein ingestion. In other words, he found that consuming 100 grams of protein after exercise was NOT wasted! His conclusion: "These findings demonstrate that the magnitude and duration of the anabolic response to protein ingestion is not restricted and has previously been underestimated in vivo in humans." So eat as much protein as you want, it's all beneficial.
Btw, 1 gram per kg bodyweight is the standard to keep you alive, not to keep you in glowing good health. Did you actually read Dr. Loon's research, or did you just depend on what someone else said about it?
3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and honey or sugar substitute to taste. That helps. I make a shake with a couple of ice cubes and blend it up. It helps a bit.
