The last clutch plate to go back on is supposed to be indexed differently than the others. It isn't supposed to be in the same slot as the others in the basket.

Additional information would be helpful, such as how many and what kind of miles are on the bike, (daily commute, city or highway, canyon carving, etc) riding style, (rev the engine and slip the clutch a lot on starts, or bog the engine and engage the clutch quickly, clutching up wheelies, etc.) as well as maintenance frequency. This would help viewers to assess if they should preventatively inspect their clutch.

If this was a tutorial, the author did not show or mention all friction plates are not the same - two have a different part number and should be placed in very specific locations in the clutch pack. The exploded views on the internet OEM sites like ronayers.com will show you this.

some people actually recommends soaking your clutch pack on oil before you replace it.

hey man, i ripped my clutch too, but youre missing something! be warned - inspect the clutch basket for tiny cracks!!!!! i eneded up getting new clutch assembly installed on my fz09! inspect the basket! it must be cracked, some cracks are merely visible!

Maybe a dumb question, but what led you to inspect the clutch? The other day under hard acceleration in 3rd gear, the rpms jumped from 8.5k to 9 k quickly, but the speedometer didn't really move.

It's great the way you made the volume on your music real loud and still barely able to hear what you are saying.

That's not the way to remove a pressure plate. You have to unscrew the bolts following a "star" pattern, loosing a bolt, then the opposite one and so on. This way you ensure the plate to come off even, not stressing any of the springs.

Helow how did you know the order to install the new set of frition and clutch plates ?

Yo man! got a question. I have a FZ09 as well 😁 had to replace the clutch cover due to an accident I had. any who replaced everything and now my clutch lever is super loose even when I tighten it all the way. Got Any suggest? it's a 2016 with 6K cable looks fine. thanks!

Hey hopefully someone can give me a answer to my problem ima try to break it down best as possible, So I have a 2019 Yamaha MT 09 that has 18k miles with a few mods like a ECU Flash, SC Project Exhaust, Quick Shifter, K&N Filter.. When im in my higher gears mostly going fast giving it full throttle my bike will rev higher than supposed to while losing power but I’m still able to up & down shift with no problem and take off in 1st gear with no delay I was told it’s most likely my clutch plates but the dealership wasn’t 100% sure they said they never heard of this problem if you was having these issues as well or know what’s going on I will really appreciate any advice..

Did you have an issue with putting the clutch cover back on and not being able to get the clutch to engage? I just replaced my clutch plates and once i got it all back together, I can pull my lever with my pinky and the clutch wont engage at all.

Hi if my 5th and 6th gear are slipping like I rev it hard in the high range and the needle jumps up abnormally fast and the bike doesnt respond at first or the needle goes up and down under WOT, is this a clutch issue and do I need to replace the whole clutch or just the corresponding clutch plates?

how many miles. I have a bike with 20K miles and the clutch is good still. My fz09 is only at like 5K.

check your oil for clutch partsbroken plates is no good, maybe give your riding style an assessment, clutch wheelies are unnecessary on the fz09, mine comes up in 3rd just off power

Dude!!! You must not be doing your wheelies right then. I pull mine up all the time but I use the back break to pull it up. I barely fan my clutch in 2nd and 3rd and I'm at 3400K milrs. Pulled my cover off at 2800K and my clutch looked just fine. Nothing like yours. Not to mention what kind of oil are you using?
