The decline of democracy started when the Berlin Wall fell. Then I was on the mountain in manni, Greece. Few months later, the soviets went. Almost feels like those who wanted the best for America needed America to feel what it would be like to have the worst for America so that an overwhelming number of Americans would finally embrace wholeheartedly those who actually want America and the rest of the world to be a better place. In essence, allow them to have a taste of their country under the leadership of the worst of humanity for a couple years so that they will finally get it and realise the majority of people just want the best for humanity.

It's not liberalism or conservatism that has ruined anything. There's only the things people want accomplished, and the policies that can accomplish those things. The real issue we're having is that over time, as the complexity of the world rose, people have lost sight of the importance of policy and looking at the data to see what policies accomplish what they want, and have simply held faith that the people in charge knew best. Unfortunately, the founding fathers built our system of voting with the belief that voters would be the ultimate oversight over the elected officials. In a world where the internet exists, it is sad to see how little the average citizen understands the issues they are supposed to be oversight for... My guess is that as the issues have risen in complexity, in a more and more advanced world where each citizen has had to work more and more hours, there was a disconnect, to where now the facts aren't what the citizens oversight is based on, as a general rule at least. We need to look at our system of voting, because in a world where an average citizen will never need to understand the facts and science of complex issues enough to provide that precious oversight that the founding fathers based our system on, we cannot be surprised that the system that worked so well for so long is going to fall apart. We saw our system of government work well for a majority of America's history. However, the issues faced then are not comparible to the issues faced in our world today. The founding fathers belief that mankind's ability to recognize truth and have the correct gut feelings were correct, and this was truly a very wise thing to do, but only up to a point. If the founding fathers knew how much research and dedication was required to truly understand and be effective in the issues facing America today, they would surely not have put the burden of oversight by the citizens as such an important foundational cornerstone to our system of government like they did. Everything they did that allowed America to be so successful was based on knowing human nature, and working around it's strengths and flaws, but they simply could not have known just how different the world would end up looking today...

Democratic system did not fail US, its how the capitalist system which has failed the country. Alot of country lives on much less and less advance then the US, it is the US promotion of the capitalist system because US has to be No.1, this is the price to pay, US spends too much and at the end produce too little to endure. I might get attack again on this, US are in this state not because of China it is because there is a deficit, China or not the average american are spending too much and have too little contribution to the world economy ( if this was fault then there won't be a deficit). Democratic system should not be blame for low saving rate, high debt rate and slow curve of skilled labor(meaning they are less competitive, when US has the largest volume of university and technical collage), and even if they bring all the tech job back to US there is no labor for such jobs.. those are skilled labor.. you need decade of infrastructure and management.. The US system needs to reset it is just part of the economic cycle, what will happen if US crash? it all depends on the people not the government, as it would be the people who determine their production and saving not the government. China is just a diversion and a bad one at that, if the Chinese really have stolen from the US there won't be a trade war, it would be a nuclear war.. for real.. I really wish people would sit down and listen some of the lectures on economic structure of the US.. it is all here.. free and in English..

McMaster's words are harshly critical of others but how can one be critical of others for torture and enslavement when the Bush administration had a program of torture and the head of the current administration proposes reviving torture as a practice, or when America has the highest rate of incarceration in the world, incarceration which is unjustifiable and which provides slave labor to American industry.
