I work in a UK hospital as a cleaner and I remember being told (tongue in cheek) that if the doctors disappeared the nurses could keep things stable, if the nurses disappeared the doctors could step in but if the cleaners, catering, porters etc vanished the hospital would be closed immediately under health and safety rules. That's exactly right!!!! I worked in several hospitals here in NY as a diet aide and a cook. Kitchen, housekeeping, supplies, maintenance departments are the backbone, the foundation of the hospital. Thank you my friend! #HOGforever!!
I just commented on another video about exactly this! My husband works as a Maintenance Technician at our local hospital. Often the doctors and nurses will get all the awards and accolades for employee appreciation. But it is guys like my husband, who work long hard hours, running from job to job, keeping the building running smoothly. Even if it is something as simple, as fixing a light switch in the OR so they can see to operate. If they all the underbelly workers walked off the job today, the building would almost immediately cease to function. If people only knew how much is done behind the scenes, it wouldn't feel like such a thankless job for him.

We can never know what struggles and situations people are going through in life. There are heroes out there- people who are fighting the good fight- and there are villains, too. I nice tribute and shout out to all the heroes out there!
I sent a thanks out to the electric company linemen who have been working so hard to restore power to everyone here in Texas. Also to my nephew's boss who is my family's personal hero for rearranging his emergency back up at home to loan us a generator so we could run Mom's oxygen machine, some fans and our fridge.
I was an elementary school teacher for 12 years (20-24 students) then I decided to become a computer teacher and they gave me 230 kids per week...I did it for one year, and that's when I decided to quit...never be afraid of changing your life...( I still love teaching though...)
You're absolutely right, my friend- never be afraid of changing your life!! I've zig zagged through life and have learned a lot. I enjoy teaching: I've taught guitar for many years and when I was in college I was a TA in Anatomy/ Physiology and taught labs for 30-35 students twice a week. Nothing like you and what you did, but I did enjoy it. Teachers have always been the unsung heroes. Thank you, my friend! ❤️
