Anything is a base station if you have a power supply and external antenna connected to it. Anything is an antenna if you tune it. Anything is a lightning rod if it’s exposed outside.

Yes, but when it comes to GMRS I like a nice solid 50 W base station and an antenna that’s at least 15 feet off the ground, now you’re playing with the big boys

Hello from Phoenix, Arizona! I’m a new subscriber and can’t wait to jump into your videos. One suggestion is the orientation is not well for watching this on RU-vid on iPad no matter what I do. I cannot feel the screen with the video so it makes the video relatively small I’d like to fill my whole iPad screen anyway thanks so much looking forward to your videos, I either want to get my license or get in the GRMS

GMRS licence is totally recommended, I can talk literally everywhere with just a handheld, and I live in Los Angeles . I do my videos to be enjoyed on the Phone vertically and on your iPad also, rotate the orientation of your ipad it will fill the whole screen....You have to also hit that little rectangle thats in the right corner of the video. tell me how that works and please give me some feedback. Thanks

All of those handheld radios are superheterodyne, as well 😉

No they are SOC Homodyne "System On Chip" all under $50 radios, I am getting two handhelds sent to me that are also Super Heterodyne soon, all over $200 each. Sound quality is significantly better

If you think this sounds good, you need to try a Motorola or any of the Japanese radios, then you will see most GMRS only radios (even the expensive ones) sound "cheap" and you won't know until you try. I owned that mobile at one time and being licensed on both services with most of my time on GMRS, I concluded what people hear is a matter of opinion. A good SOC an Hetro sounds as good as the microphones and filters allow.
