They pretend like they read comments, and you know the commenters give detailed history of the songs and performers, every time, but next time those performers come up, they still don't know anything about them. Go back to their early history. Two of their first Beatles reactions were George songs. The complete history of George was given in the comments of the first one. By the second one, Jay was trying to figure out if the singer was John or Paul. The first time they did a George solo song, they had no idea who he was, but Jay said his style seems to have been inspired by the Beatles. After they finally pieced together who George was, they did a couple more of his solo songs before doing a George Beatles song that they actually knew was a George song, but Jay blew it by saying it was their first reaction to a George Beatles song, and it wasn't. They called Jeff Lynne the "curly haired guy" in the Wilburys, before they learned of the name "Jeff Lynne" as an important person in the Wilburys and ELO, but they still haven't connected that name to "the curly haired guy", in the Wilburys or ELO. About Rush, they can go on and on about Geddy and Neil, but when Amber tried to say something about Alex, she had to stop and say "he", awkwardly. I've been unsubbed for a while, but I get recommended videos on the side. I feel bad for the people who are pouring their hearts out directly to Jay and Amber in comments, knowing that no one will read it but the other commenters.

I would add Cody Johnson, Zac Brown Band, Chris Stapleton, Whiskey Myers, Sturgill Simpson and Colter Wall to this list as well. I didn’t like a lot of the modern country music sounds for a while, but there are some great exceptions and they deserve to be noted. In fact, it seems that the heart of country music seems to be starting to move west with more of a Texas/Outlaw/Midwest/Alberta sound and I’m leaning into it harder and harder everyday.

I was at a funeral a year ago, spoke to a person who spoke at funerals & mentioned that song. He RAN to his car to get pen & paper to write the artists name & song. ABFAB song & delivery. I did write the words down for a friend at our church who's husband had passed. Put Jamey's name at heading, put in an envelope & said to read it when she felt she could. Next week she thanked me.

This song tells the story of a man making some bad decisions. Johnson commented on his website that he "believes this can happen when people are hurting and can go from bad to worse if they don't receive the help they need.". Johnson co-wrote this song with James Slater, whose other credits include Rascal Flatts' "Unstoppable." Even though this cut was never a hit, the song's subject matter has spoken to fans struggling with addiction issues. Slater explained to The Boot the story behind the song: "I had that title, 'The High Cost of Living Ain't Nothing Like the Cost of Living High,' for about a year and a half. Jamey and I had become friends at the time. I thought, 'That's the guy I gotta write it with.' I thought maybe he had a little experience in that. So I called him one day, and thankfully it was right before he was about to start making his album. He came over to the house. It took us about two sessions to write it. He took it home and came back, and I'll never forget the day he came back. He goes, 'Man, I gotta show you something.' He said, 'I put this part in the third verse about cocaine and a whore.' And he said, 'There goes our No. 1 single!' I said, 'You know, Jamey, I just trust you. Let's just run with it and make it real.' And in hindsight that was the best thing that could have happened, because maybe it wasn't a No. 1 single, but I'll tell you, we've gotten so many great letters and press about that song and it is real, and it really hits people right. I think it's nice to have certain songs that are just right there. So many people have come up and said to me, 'Wow, that was me 10 years ago,' or 'that was me four years ago.' So I'm real happy with that song.When you get together with Jamey you don't know what you're gonna get! He's a bright guy, he's smart, he's different. And that's what I embrace. I grew up in Central America ... I'm not your typical songwriter, my past is a little different, so I really embrace anything different. And Jamey Johnson's the real thing. Jamey is a great artist, for the most part unknown. If you wanna really cry, listen to his song “In Color”. Also the part where he’s singing “I’ll always miss dreaming my dreams with you” is his version of Waylon Jennings version of “Dreaming my Dreams”.

He does serious justice to Waylon's version of that song in his cover. Jamey is awesome. I also love his "cover" of George Straits Give it Away (not really a true cover since it was a live show and Jamey actually wrote the song) which he performed with LeAnn Womack at the George Strait - Artist of the Decade concert. He has a couple great duets with Alison Krauss too.

They did that November 23, 2022 :) So not that long ago, but in the grand scheme of things at 3 songs a day, which is 90-93 songs a month, plus any they have to re-do because they get taken down, plus 4-8 movies a month... It's a lot to keep track of. :)

Jamie is a great songwriter, and at times performs his own songs..other times an artist picks his songs, example, George Strait.." GIVE IT AWAY". Jasmine was a decade before the Great.. Chris Stapleton...so similar, the only thing that seperates them is the suits in Nashville.

Just a suggestion, you might want to take a listen to Steve Earle. He is defenitly a roudy country artist, with some rock influence ( and blues). He was huge in the 80's and early 90's. I'm not a country fan but Steve's sound I dig. Songs that I like are: The Rain Came Down, I Ain't Ever Satisfied, Copperhead Road, Snake Oil, The Devil's Right Hand and my favorite: Billy Austin. Hope you dive in !!!

If you want to check out a classic country male voice and have a chuckle at the same time, check out David Frizzell’s song I’m Gonna Hire A Wino (to decorate our home). It’s about a wife who is frustrated because her husband always stops at the bar after work and is consequently late so she decides to recreate the bar in her house so he’ll come straight home. You will appreciate the very cleverly written lyrics and the twangy “old country” sound.

Always one of my favorite outros of any song in any genre. That little slow section near the end is actually a few seconds of a different song. It's called Dreaming My Dreams With You. It's an old Waylon Jennings song. Jamey covers it on the same album this song is on. You should react to the original. I know you're really coming to like Waylon. But I don't think you've done a ballad from him yet.
