Its mostly math and statistics run over tons of data. We've had the statistics for decades, mostly, but gathering the data and having the distributed computing power to crunch it was impossible until the last few years when the tools to do it became open source and widely adopted.

Imho the real mvp buzzword is the neuron in neural network, if i slap a bias and activation on a dct, i have a neural layer, the moment we start to consider residual links are actually daya busses, we may find that we can cimpute the entropy lilit distribution in a datasetvrelative to ckass

Something you didn't mention, that I think is also is important how AI in sci-fi media has impacted people's perception of the technology. The term AI in CS is totally different from the term AI in Sci-fi.

I always thought AI is more of a category, its like saying Messi does sport.... instead of a striker in soccer for x (I don't watch sport) but you get the idea... that's the problem... or yo usay my daughter is a professional artist, and she might be an interpretive dancer, instead of what we would think which is painter , sculptor etc... its way to broad.... but yes its a buzz word.... AI is to general of a term....

The video seems purposefully misleading. You try to make the case that "AI" is an entirely free flowing, but in reality "using AI" at this point almost always means using deep neural nets and making use of particular innovations of the last year's, from Alex net to Transformers. There's particular software like tensor flow and pytorch almost universally used for those tools. Of course "AI" is a buzzword and there's useless projects and companies trying to get money with it - but the technical tools and innovations, concept that were not around in 2013 and which now drive the hype, are as concrete as the invention of the laser, say.

Incorrect. It's a term for a concept that people are familiar with, partly from science fiction and partly from the real world. A term for a computer program that can think a bit like a human. It refers to anything from computer-controlled opponents in video games to things like ChatGPT and Stable Diffusion.
