The cinematographer put it best: It was never about Tony, it was about the people and the location. THEY were the stars. And by doing that, by showing their day-to-day lives and showcasing the little details and the hidden treasures, he made you fall in love with almost every place he went to. He showed us, as cliche as it might be, that ppl all around the world are the same, and that the ppl we are with and the ppl we meet are what makes travelling so great

As much as Tony was the show, so was the cinematography, sound and writing. I was mesmerized by the talents of both Tony in front and the entire team behind the lens. Watching the scenes the Parts Unknown team captured, complimented with just ambient sound was pure art. Something that takes talent to recognize and skill to capture. Throughout the years I watched the show progress, the footage expand and the depth of shots and angles grow while maintaining its no gimmick roots. To Morgan Fallon and all the Parts Unknown production team, very simply... Thank you.

Tony died on the day of my father's funeral. I came home from the service and saw the news, and as much as I loved my father, I was more leveled by Tony's death. My Dad was 91 and had cancer, so I was prepared, but Anthony Bourdain--suicide? It just seemed impossible. My brother committed suicide a few years ago, and it is so much more painful and difficult when someone decides to die then when they die naturally. There's something so unholy about it. I can't help thinking that he discovered the truth about Asia Argento and the kid, and just couldn't live with it. May God have mercy on his soul.

I'd love to see Parts Unknown eventually continue; I mean it would be such a tremendous thing to try and fill Anthony's shoes, but it would very much be just as great of a series as long as the person in front of the camera, narrating, etc. is as down-to-Earth, honest, kindred, humble, and truly curious as Mr. Bourdain was.

no way that works. a big reason the show worked so well was, as mentioned in this video, the writing. tony has a way with words that i don't think someone else can match. its the same with his books, his writing style was very much his own.

Having little to do today but run a few errands, I noticed Anthony Bourdain's last show now featured on Netflix. I had to watch a few episodes, including a favorite one featuring his adventure in Koreatown, laughing and drinking in LA. Watching him again made me feel his radiant presence right through the screen, almost as though he'd never left, like he's just having a beer on some distant beach or veranda in some exotic locale. Even though I could see his tall, lanky frame on the screen, and still hear his mellifluous, resonant voice, he wasn't really there, he's moved on. His life influenced mine in so many wonderful ways, and his sudden passing was a horrible, irretrievable loss. He should have never hooked up with Asia Argento. I'm still crying inside.

I have to wonder why he did it. Such fame and all that goes with it. Not buying the reason was a cheating girlfriend, unless maybe Argento had threatened to blackmail and tear him down for money. This guy was stronger than that. Maybe a health problem or trying to come to terms with his age. It's not easy for anyone. Sad.

dude, its called depression. that's the only reason you need. the majority still doesn't understand the mental illness that is depression which is why people can't understand suicide.
@crsantin
@crsantin 6 лет назад
He took his life while on the job, working an episode. That means he was with his crew. They had been together for many years. I find it hard to believe that no one noticed he wasn't doing well. I'm not blaming anyone else for Bourdain's suicide but did no one notice something was off? Like maybe keep a closer eye on him because he seems pretty down? I don't think someone makes that decision spur of the moment, one minute you're in a good mood and then you just decide hey I'm going to end it all as soon as I finish my dinner. His death just seems so odd.
@dattran6372
@dattran6372 6 лет назад
do you understand that people that deal with long term depression are often very good at hiding that they are depressed? maybe nobody could tell, or maybe they did, but you can't be with the person 24/7. anthony went to his hotel like anyone would after a day of work. as far as anyone knows he went to go to sleep for the night just like ALL OF US DO. how in the is someone to predict that would be when he decided to commit suicide?
@carolec2372
@carolec2372 6 лет назад
Please don't misunderstand, I do feel where you are coming from. But don't you think the crew, his friends and family are thinking the same thing? Possibly blaming themselves? Don't make this worse for the people who loved him.
