What are all the TYPES of Street Photography you can do?

Hey guys! The best way to do street photography is to have a plan before you step outside. But what CAN you shoot? In this video we explore ALL the types of street photography subjects you can capture. The goal here is not to be a be-all-end-all guide, but a step to understanding the variety of photographs we can create on the streets. I am by no means a street photography expert, so comment with anything you think might help the group.

Exactly what I thought as I watched -- this took a lot of work. Thanks. You may also want to consider transport as a category -- subways, buses, taxis, bicycles, airports, Penn Station, etc. etc.

Street shooting in Brasil may be a little dangerous, but I love it. I have a real problem in dealing with people, and I LOVED the "people implied" idea. Really great.

I'm still new to street photography and this is very helpful to someone who might be having an "identity crisis" as to what kind of photos they're more inclined to taking when out on the streets. But I've found that the best way to learn is to dive in, learn from experience and in time you'll know what you love and feel comfortable with shooting. It's a never ending journey and expect a lot of failures along the way 😊

As somehow who JUST got into street photography (and just photography in general), i can't explain how helpful this video was! For the most part I started just taking photos of things that caught my interest (color coordination, patterns) without any particular goal/theme. I think I will try to focus on a few of these types at a time and figure out what resonates with me.

Great stuff Omar! I like that you included neighborhoods as a type of street photography. I never really thought of it like that but I guess it is. I photograph my neighborhood every morning while walking the dog as a way to practice 'seeing' for when I go looking for street photos.

It is great to have the genre / type of ‘Street Photography’ broken down into segments and explained in its simplest form .. this is a good video for the beginner and those who may need a refresher course in the variation of Street Photography and realising that this genre is more diverse than just ‘shooting photos on the street’ ... thank you and well done sir ...

This is brilliant Omar - thanks so much for making this video. Equal parts informative and inspirational. So many times I’ve set out to do some street photography in my home city (Vancouver) without a clear idea of what to capture and ended up with nothing. This categorisation helps immensely. As an ex Sociology instructor I also like your description of the ‘mundane’ but would argue that there is a lot of extraordinary behaviour that can be captured in the apparently mundane.

That typology is nothing less than a contribution to photography theory!
