We absolutely love CLs and CS', they have so much character, and they seem to just have more charm too

This made me smile because apparently I’m a brilliant hairdresser! Not my words. Problem! None of my clients would recommend me because they didn’t want to share!!! I needed more clients but it was a difficult situation! I quite often use both sites you have recommended and I love using them. I hope this wakes people up a little. Thank you!

Great overview about these sometimes hidden sites. We've stayed on some lovely CL's with hard standing fully serviced pitches. As you say Dan, check the route in when booking. Cheers. Rob

Hi Dan, Glad to see that you are back doing what you do so well, I will break form tradition and recommend 2 C L sites. 1. The meadows ( Badwell Ash) Loved to stay there when my son was based at the R.A.F. station close by. Check it out. 2. Crofton Hall ( Carlisle) If you want evening Sunshine book pitch 1 or 2 , pitch 5 is also great. Happy CLing. More to follow if you wish as we almost exclusively use the 5 caravan sites.

We will only use CL sites, mainly because you don't feel hemmed in or overlooked and the fact that they only allow 5 caravans so it doesn't get overcrowded like most commercial and CC sites.

As someone who uses, almost exclusively, CL or CS sites, I think your comment re people not wanting to recommend them is a bit of a myth. The Facebook groups get lots of people asking for and getting recommendations. Indeed this week I have recommended two or three of my own personal favourites. The CAMC forum also has lots of members who use these sites extensively and are more than willing to recommend. Glad you enjoyed your visit to a CL, apart from the cost saving they are less car park-like than club sites! Good to see you back!

We do 100 + nights a year in our caravan and only ever stay on CLs. We try to do as many off grid sites as possible. I'd give up caravanning, for three reasons, if the only sites available were big organised ones. 1. Cost. 2. I don't like being regimented. 3. I don't like crowded sites.

I love the CLs over club sites personally. We are off to a great one next week in Delabole near Tintagel.

We've been to a couple of CL's, both £16 a night fully serviced and in great locations. Well worth checking out...I'm not saying where they are though!!

With a dog who gets a bit hyper when he sees children running about and also we like a nice quiet site, adult only CL’s and CS’s are the only sites we use. We have all the on board facilities including a solar panel so don’t need shower blocks or club houses so find find these sites great value. Also the owners are really friendly and will do what they can for you.

Hi - as someone TOTALLY new to caravanning I would like to say a big thank you for your incredibly informative videos (are these called videos?). The information you put across is spot on and ticks many boxes to many questions I have had. May I ask you one question - did you think the Diamondbrite products did what you wanted them to do? I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to keeping my cars and now my caravan clean. For now, keep up the good work and all the very best to you. Nigel

In all the years I've been a member of the Caravan club, (and that's a fare few) you can count on one hand the times I've used club site, always CL's from always off grid with my older vans, few bells and whistles, to now, with EHU with my modern van, with all the bells whistles and more. There are some cracking sights out there. I would recommend that if you are prepared to travel a few miles to the coast, that you look inland for a CL always find a pitch, where as the ones near the coast will be fully booked, High season that is. ( Drat will not be able to find a pitch inland now). Just one other point, the CL,s without marked pitches, a field, where there is room to spread out, please do and don't crowd a van that's already pitched. Sorry Dan just one of my pet hates. Will remove if you want.

I first started caravanning in 1976 and used CL sites right from the start Today I still use caravan club CL's years ago there were no EHU they were basic sites mostly on working farms. Today many CL's are mini club sites and charge up to £25 pn I am certainly not going to pay that , so I find CL's that have no EHU. I have a twin axle Lunar Delta with all the bells and whistles and I use them. This year so far we have had 6 weeks away in our van all on non EHU CL's we have not run out of power at anytime this included charging our electric bike batteries via SOLAR.. The sites we stayed at were £7-8 pn they are less populated then EHU sites and those who use them are PROPER caravanners who use their vans to the full. Am I going to tell you where these FABULOUS CL's are NOT on your Nelly You find them for yourselves Its a pity Caravan & Motorhome club don't let you search for none EHU sites on their web search

Love CL's The less they have the more I like it. We used one up until this year. £5 pn, tap, bin and chemical desposal👍

Hi Dan, looks like you have changed the seating in your Phoenix. We are looking to change our as we have issues with them. Did you get yours done by Bailey or is it something you have had done yourself ?

We have done a few videos of our trips to cls. I think if you have a decent van great places and can save yourself a fortune on pitch fees. I would also say look in area for local parks if you have children.

Do these places accept self-built campervans or is there either a snobbery or actual prohibition that you know of? (Or would that be site-dependent)

We only use CL's as we find them generally quieter and of course cheaper. In the main we use the fully serviced ones, which could be hard to find, as the Caravan Club does not publish a list. However, on the club's forum there is an excellent sticky that is updated by Dave showing these locations.I give this information with a heavy heart, because I would really like to keep these gems to myself. Hi, What has happened to your proposed Duvalay Video?

I need a version of this doing for proper club sites, having only stayed on about 4 or 5 in 9 years of caravanning.

As they're priced per couple, they can be more expensive for solo caravanners.

Only 5 pitches?...... Not always in my experience. Often abused by the owner.
