Do you offer discovery calls on your bookkeeping/ accounting business?

This is a big step, Thank you for explaining its importance. I'm a Spanish speaker, so my English has an accent, I feel that this would make potential clients feel uncomfortable and turn off. Any tip?

Hi Maria, believe it or not, I am also a Spanish speaker and English is my second language. Preparation is key as well as having some scripts prepared ahead of time. What I mean by scripts are things like templated emails you can modify and customize to fit the occasion. The templated scripts can be used to follow up after the call and provide a clear outline of the recap and outline the next steps. Also, when you host your discovery call, before the call, you would send a few intake questions to gather information to help you during the call. Now, during the call, you would outline/list the questions you want to ask, during the Discovery call, your client is doing most of the talking. You can then ask more follow up questions and/or talk about your process: practice practice practice: record yourself and notice where you get stuck, work on where you get stuck, practice some more. Come up with a few helpful hints tips that will help you during the call. I hope this helps.

You can do it! Use it as your super power. There are potential clients who need a bilingual bookkeeper out there. My husband speaks Japanese and English, so I understand. However, be confident in the value of your services that you provide. Try not to worry about your accent as long as your clients understand what you are communicating and vice versa. I wish you the best!
