I assume such architectural design & mechanisms applied into buildings such as what has been demonstrated in this video were not made simply because of their aesthetics. If it is practical, then I will only assume that it will also be cost-efficient. Otherwise, impractical, hence, cost-inefficient.

@@jk-gb4et Some countries have a lot of sun heat, think deserts or arid places. Air conditioning is wasteful compared to shade. The developed countries use electricity for this comfort, but pursue more intelligent ideas, as shown in this short video.

We had done this as part of our graduation project for Mechanical Engineering in 2012. It was called Solar Panel Tracking Mechanism.

Yeah, except solar power sucks and doesn’t create enough electricity Edit: Solar power literally doesn't generate enough money to pay for itself prior to the solar cells having to be replaced. You're better off investing the money instead of spending it on solar panels.

Horrendously expensive maintenance…costs and worst the amount of broken parts we faced on our building we bought for work… was one of the first things I designed to be removed…. It was only 7years old too.

The Burj al Khalifa is not connected to a sewer system apparently , so all the dung coming from the world's tallest concrete fallus has to be taken away in trucks ! 😅😂🤣. As long as you use your left hand, right ! (the cess pool that was used on our farm 60 years ago maybe was not dated at all !.😁 )

@OAT351 YES ! They forget that the Maint. Dept. has a budget, and costly parts/components will have the techs drowning in their own agony while trying to make professional repairs using bubble gum and spit !!!! 😆😂🤣😉

I used to drive by the pineapple towers (as the locals call them) in Abu Dhabi all the time- they look really, really good in person with the sun reflecting around them

It would be cool to see technology like this but examples that use passive methods to change their configuration. As soon as you start getting electric motors and drive systems involved, there's just so much complexity, cost, and reliability issues that creep in. It seems like you could use the incidence angle of the sun to heat some element that would expand and contract, thus changing the structure without the need for any electricity. Use parabolic mirrors or lenses to focus sunlight so that they can operate independently of ambient temperature and it strictly becomes a function of light intensity.

Probably, had they designed buildings adapted for the they wouldn't need the "extra help", but being said, there's a difference using the word kinetic for a whole building or just for moving parts in the facade. In the last case vernacular Mediterranean architecture has shown us many lessons that can be applied in modern architecture. Just a couple of honourable mentions: - L'Institute du Monde Arabe, Paris. - pabellón Kuwait, Expo'92. - Media-Tic, Barcelona. Thanks for the channel 😉👍

Imagine you have sensor controlled shutters but half of them is damaged. Every time the sun moves activates this things and they make high pitched mechanical noises like screams of a dying animal. Some of them doesn’t work at all anymore and they are just half way closed. That’s my university.
