Love tokens are beautiful! My Mom has a set of earrings my Grandpa made for his mother during WW2. Both were carved into British sixpences, one a Queen Victoria the other King Edward VII. With the inscription "Mother from Fred 1942". A beautiful piece, with a ton of history!
Sure, the numismatic value of the coin is basically ruined; but I think the historical value in this case more than makes up for the numismatic loss. All you need is love.
beautiful pieces. What a coincidence, in the last video of channel SpegTacular (the interview of the coin shop owner), they talk about these love tokens, as well.
I just learned what a love token is yesterday. I visited a pawn shop and they had one made from a type three $1gold coin. I had to leave with it simply because it has a special history that shouldn't be melted down.
Seeker these are awesome as an engraver you may not have known the quarter-sized one has the initials of either I U or J U you're holding it upside down. Notice the dots after the J and after the U. If you TriNet the other way I'm sure you'll see it clearly. From what I thought I do believe it's a j. These are really awesome I would love to have one and to know where you found these at.
I found one the size of a sliver dime with out any face of the dime. It was all engraved. The back had 1893 date engraved on it the front looks like a engraved name.
You've got them both upside down. That's J.W. on the quarter and J.W.W. on the half. If they came from the same collection they probably belonged to the same person.
I want to make one for my Fiancé I’m getting married in 2022. Thinking of getting a 2022 silver eagle and doing it so it will be a year that it is happening
