What are my thoughts on this compact track loader?

I spent about an hour moving some logs for an friend and used his rental track loader. This was my first experience with anything from JCB or a track loader. The grapple style is different from what I'm used to as well. I'll show some clips of me running it and give my thoughts on the machine and the grapple as well.

I've leased a JCB 280 (wheeled) skid for snow removal before. They're the same as Volvos. I think JCB builds them and rebrands them for Volvo. The side entry is nice, but that's about it. I agree with the jumpy controls. Good video Tim. Oh, and I wouldn't want that grapple either.

Hey Tim, I’ve been thinking about a skid steer for a bit. I am doing more construction type work and maybe in the future I’ll get one I built my own grapple when I first bought my tractor in a similar style like you were using today. Mine doesn’t have the individual clamps on each side I have one clampgrapple certainly makes working with brush and logs that type of thing easier but I have to agree. I think the type you have would work better and if I was going to rebuild it, I build it more like a rake style. Always have a great day later.

I agree, for picking up uneven things like a log with a large flair at one end, that style works better. I think that is the only advantage though from my very limited experience running it. It can also be used as kind of a rock bucket as well. Picking up rocks or firewood rounds better, but you need something to push those up against in order to get them up in there.
