What are PM Models like? In this video I build and review the Sea Fury in 1:72 scale from PM Model. I hadn't heard of the kit manufacturer before I came across it in my local hobby shop, so I thought I'd give one of their kits a build and review. You can find the kit here: amzn.to/370Fk7H
The Sea Fury was the last propeller driven aircraft to see action in the Royal Navy, seeing combat in the Korean War. The version built in this video is the two seater training version.
In future videos I'd like to build and review more kits from smaller, less well known companies, especially if the subjects are unusual and not available from the mainstream manufacturers like Airfix, Tamiya, and Eduard.

For a very basic kit with quite a few flaws you've done a stellar job and it's turned out really well in the final reveal (as viewed from this side of the screen!). Great job all round, MN....onwards to the next project!

The TS-13 probably reacted with the aluminium paint as it’s a water based paint. TS-13 prefers Tamiya, Mr Colour, ect as there "hot" paints by nature. Hope that helps.

l like PM models . Cheap and part fits are iffy but a bit of work and patience and they turn into good models which are easy to assemble and enjoyable to build . The river counting ,accuracy obsessed modellers with their after market accessories may not like them them but the average modeller like myself find them a good buy and fun to build .

Sometimes I think the letters PM in these model kits stands for “parts missing!“ I’ve purchased two of these PM kits in the past, sealed up from the factory, and both of them had one part each that was not there. I won’t ever buy another one.

Ah Ha, I would suggest that the Wyvern, and then the Gannet were propeller driven aircraft. I suspect you meant piston engined aircraft, just counting the rivets as always! But, you have made an excellent job of the kit.

Very nice result and the metal finish looks very effective, well done. They produce reasonable, inexpensive kits of some unusual aircraft but there should be an indication of the age of the tooling on the box. Had sink marks on some of their kits but no short shots. They can take a little bit of work to get a good result but they are fun.

The part you left off was probably the Instructors forward view "periscope" so don't worry - the plane will still fly !

Looks great! You should try using super glue on the dimples. It doesn’t shrink and it sands easily. I found some aircraft made by 4D, a Chinese company. Pretty inexpensive too! About the same as your PM model. Thanks for sharing! Happy days and model on! 😎

I recently built a PM Sea Fury but the box art was different. Nice kit, went together well. This one is the trainer version but I also have a regular fighter version by a company called Pioneer2. Boxes were the same size and quality was on par as well. I bought this one as it came with decals to make it a Canadian fighter so as a good I had to have one.

Hi Ross - thanks for watching. Yes, I believe this is the same molding as the Pioneer 2 release. It is nice to see these companies release lots of different versions and schemes - much better than buying a kit and then having to spent another 10 quid or more on a set of decals (half of which you probably won't use).

Why beat around the bush ? It's a bloody awful kit . Crude , lumpy with panel lines that a 1/72 pilot could put his fist into . The decals aren't even the correct size . Nasty .

Thanks. Yes, a shame about the pilots. I'm trying to source some free 1:72 scale pilot models that I could 3D print. So far I have one but only in a standing pose.

Looks good again, it was a good looking plane I like the natural metal finish a raf p51 mustang would look mint in that finish

Yes, the Mustang in NMF would be great. I've already done an RAF Mustang in Temperate Land Scheme and I have another on in the stash in desert camo, but I am drawn to NMF (especially now I've bought the expensive Vallejo paints!)

I've just built the Iraqi version of the two-seat Sea Fury and enjoyed it. I didn't have any issues with short shots or sink marks with mine, but the decals were severely yellowed. I photographed the decal sheet, tweaked it a bit and reprinted the serial numbers- the national markings were fine. I've built several more modern Czech-manufactured kits and the Sea Fury went together much better than most of them. It's basic, but builds into a good-looking model.

@@ModelNerd Nope! The same problem with a 1973 Airfix Sea Hawk, but relatively easily solved with photo editing software.

Airfix does indeed do a Sea Fury. Problem is, they are only sporadically in anyone's stock over here in the US. I've had my eye on the Airfix one in 1/48 for awhile. Just never can seem to get everything to line up to get one. I've been on an armor kick lately, though. Nevertheless, a trainer is a rare bird for sure.

@@ModelNerd for planes what about KP? Lots of unusual subjects. I built an old Avia B.535 kit which turned out quite nice. Inter war so biplane but with canopy. Decals had not aged well but it wasn’t an issue for me. A more recent KP Avia B-9 I’d avoid. Or old Smer kits. I can recommend the old 1/40 scale SEA5. Made a really pleasing finished model but required some clean up of parts.

Well said . What you said is what modelling is all about . Fun, enjoyment and relaxation with the end result giving a feeling of achievement and satisfaction .Have found this with every cheaply priced kit l have assembled and painted . PM models are a good example .

The kit seems to have some issues but I think the underlying problem is that PM doesn't have quality plastic or molds. The dimples on the wings and the gas tank hole seem to bear this out. Barring that, I like the plane and you did a fine job on the metal finish. Thanks for sharing this quick build with us.
