Just figured it out finally. On the shared users phone go down to the Command Center on the Dashboard. Then go down and click on Shared Users. You will see the invitation that was sent in red from the Owner. Then click on it and click Accept. I gave access to my Ring Alarm System not the cameras. 🤞🏾
It does work just after the person set up a account go back to the email they received for the invite and read it because it tells them to click on the next part...
After receiving the invitation and accepting it in "Control Center" , the shared user has to log out of the app and then back in. It'll let you choose the shared address after that.
Yes, very frustrating! The email that everyone receives only has a button to create an account and then there’s a link to “manage the request“. After setting up a new account and then going back to the email and clicking on “manage the request”, it takes the recipient into the Shared Users Area of the new account but it is blank, of course, because that person is not sharing anything because they don’t have a ring doorbell! There is no area or button to accept the request! Come on! Reply to my comment with further, CLEAR instructions on how to finish the process correctly after the “manage the request” link brings the new user into the “Shared Users” area of their new account, which is blank. They don’t have a Ring doorbell, so they can’t add shared users, of course! Why does your link bring them there?
@@imboredDB If you're stuck on the "manage the request" loop, try deleting the original invitation in the primary ring account, then send a new invitation (don't just resend the original...you gotta delete the original and create a new invitation). Lots of teeth grinding and frustration over the past year and all I needed to do was delete the damned invite and send a new one. Sheesh.
Hello all, I found the solution to the big problem added a shared user…. BEFORE you send the invite, have the shared user you want download and install the ring app and create a user account. Once they do that, then you can send them the invite email. This then only had the manage link in it and worked well when clicked on. It then allowed them to accept your invitation and also allowed the sender to update too. Hope this helps..
If people are having trouble setting up the shared user, ring does explain this the correct way in the video, but the recipient doesn't always see the device to which they have been invited, what worked for me was to delete the shared user and retype the users email you want to invite again and send. Wait maybe 5 mins or so and my doorbell came up on the shared users app. Hope this helps.
I did everything you suggested. I want to share with my husband to use but after husband set up his new account my main account no longer have access to other cameras. And my husband's account that I've shared to access the camera will not be available if I don't delete the old account, so Ring isn't easy to share with my family to access the camera. (Not possible) If you want your family to be able to use the camera, you only need to use the same account!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Being able to view and share your Ring devices is crucial to your peace of mind when protecting your home, and we are here to help. Please send us a DM, so we may support you further. We look forward to hearing from you.
@@ring @Ring In summary, can I share with family members access to the camera? (via sharing and i added my husband's email but can't) or only need to use the same account? ** P.S. You told me to send us a DM, ( I NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT MEANS >>> what is DM? )
Thank you for your reply. A DM would be a direct message. However, you should be able to add someone as a shared user. Here is a link with more information on shared users: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211018223-Allowing-Access-to-Shared-Users-and-Controlling-Ring-Devices-with-Multiple-Electronic-Devices.
Ya so.... The shared user option is TERRIBLE. Way too complicated. Even when you do it all correctly it still asks to set up a device on the second device. After over 2 hours of bs I'm taking it down and sending back. PS the guy setting it up is a network manager and told me to send it back. It's not the device, tried multiple phones and multiple cams... You guys need to make this easier or people are gonna go elsewhere. TOO COMPLICATED. Oh and the app has no dark mode for photosensitive users. 1 out of 10. Huge fail.
Doesn't say anything what the other person needs to do with which I am sharing the device. Other person gets email, clicking "Manage Access" takes the other person to run account on s a page with "Shared Users" and that's it. No one says how to set it up on the other account. Tech doesn't have to be that confusing.
Hey Ruby. We'd be happy to provide you with more information to ensure you can successfully add a Shared User to your account to help keep an eye on your home for peace of mind. After a Shared User has been added to the account, the devices that are shared with them should automatically populate within their Ring app. Keep in mind that it can take up to 60 seconds for shared devices to show up in the app after the Shared User accepts the invitation. You can find more information here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211018223-Allowing-Access-to-Shared-Users-and-Controlling-Ring-Devices-with-Multiple-Electronic-Devices. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
Here we are 4 years later and we still can't share the mailbox sensor activity outside of the account owner. This is a simple back end coding fix but nope! Guess I'm the only one allowed to get the mail! Getting rid of Ring and Amazon products now and switching to something else with actual support...
Unless this has been updated recently, I would suggest that you update your video to explain what you cannot do SHARED USERS for lights that are in your ring network. This is a key/basic functionality that I think everyone would be expecting. thx
Its seems many people here are frustrated or confused how to set it up. If you breeze through the instructions and dont read it all you will miss important steps in the email. If you READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS you will know exactly what to do. Thanks Ring, I love our system 😉
Hi Juan, great question. When inviting another Ring user as a Shared User to view your device, the Shared User is automatically granted access to your device in the Ring app. To access this device, the Shared User simply needs to change which location is currently being viewed in the Ring App Dashboard page to the location of the shared device. You can find more information regarding this here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211018223-Allowing-Access-to-Shared-Users-and-Controlling-Ring-Devices-with-Multiple-Electronic-Devices.
I found my issue in these comments but no helpful reply (or no reply at all) from Ring. Again, the shared user accepts the invite, which launches the app, they have to have an account, sure, but then...nothing. Even after "up to 60 seconds" the original user's device(s) not showing up. What is the magic trick to get this to work (that is apparently not in your documentation)?

It's not as simple as that. The app tries to make the shared user register and that won't work because the camera is already registered in the owners name. This is really dumb.

I want to get a ring for my elderly dad who is in another country.can his cam be added to my account to avoid having to log minds out then logging in with his information to keep an eye on him….is this possible
Hello, Lucita. Being able to help your family protect their homes is vital to your peace of mind, and we are here to help. In this case, you can add a new location under your own Ring app. To do this, your dad would need to log into the Ring app using your Ring email and password, and set up his device. While going through the set up, he will be prompted to select your location, or add a new location. All he will need to do is add a new location, enter his address, and complete the set up. This will not remove your currently location. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
I cannot see any devices even if others have already shared them with me by inputting my registration email. In my "Location (shared)", it is empty. I did get an email asking me to create an account and then click a link "manage the request". After clicking it, it will take you to the "Location (shared)", and again it is empty. Is there anything wrong with your app code? I searched and found a lot of complaints about exactly the same question since early 2021...

This is the worst app I have ever dealt with. 1 hour plus...to nowhere. I tried again a year later to accept sharing. ANOTHER lost 1hour and a half. Super complicated and again not connecting. They give you 10 minutes to set your emailed code. They send you and email with no accept button to press. The wi-fi search draws a BLANK site. Talk about stress. Doesn't matter. You can send an invite and it still asks to set up a new device in the second phone. It's not a customer error it's bad programming. Made a new account, sent the invite, entered code...still no cam access. Pls stop saying to contact you or the service department and FIX THE ISSUE. How many hundreds of people have to say "it's trash" before you take ownership and facilitate the issue!? People don't have time to play with nonsense for hours and be told to contact ring....
