I agree with all of this, however, a video like this… and maybe more so the specific word choice and examples… doesn’t help a lot when most of us have heard this same thing already preached in the church with similar word choice. The reason Jordan Peterson is followed, and a model for many, is because he articulates extremely practically what it looks like to grow up and be a man, and not simply say, “we should model more Jesus.” This is the answer to almost everything, but if life was only so simple, it wouldn’t need so many pastors and communities reminding each other what to do to be like Jesus. I share this not to discourage, but to highlight that short videos like this mainly reach people who already agree with you. My Millennial friends and GenZ students will find it difficult to take anything away from this because “be like Jesus” has very little context in their own life. I love many other videos from you all, but thought I’d attempt to share here share where this one will fall flat within my sphere.

I read your comment and thought “Yes! Please do a deep dive into this because people can’t just hear a slogan Be Like Jesus and know what that means!” But…. Then I thought about how would I go about knowing Jesus and his character? Reading my Bible was the obvious answer…. I mean, granted it’s convenient to get well put together videos summarizing the character and values and person of Jesus, but couldn’t that also hinder me, or my unbelieving friends in the discipline of reading scripture? At what point does helpful content become a crutch? And if my friends won’t open a Bible, couldn’t I go dive into the Word of God and then be a voice to my friends and describe the character of Jesus? Or at least give them a taste so they can come to church with me (hopefully where they preach Christ and Christ crucified). Hasn’t the age of technology and sound bites crippled us enough in our journey through scripture? Do we need more videos, or do we need more time with God? And listen, I’m in no way calling out your discipline of reading scripture… it could be better than mine for all I know. This is really meant for others, including myself, who see your helpful and logical comment but maybe don’t consider that the gap of responsibility For the Gospel is leaving in our eyes is actually an area of opportunity we have to be the messenger or expositor of Christ’s character to our friends who would otherwise not comprehend him. Thank you for sparking this thought, I needed to remember this more than I think you needed to hear it. 🙏🏽

You have to remember also that this channel is not for unbelievers. But to encourage those who are already in the Faith. :)

There’s a ditch on both sides of the road to becoming a man in Christ. It has a Goldilocks feel to it. But wisdom will guide us.

So if Jesus is to be looked at as the Godliest most manly man and men are to look at Him to know how to be a man, what does that say to women? Are women not also called to be like Jesus? Yet, we are not called to be manly. There is so much scripture that teaches on what a man is to be and what a women is to be, but both men and women are called to be more like Christ. I think like previous comments this is too shallow. Men and boys who are genuinely wanting to know how to be a man as God designed them to be need more biblical meat (vs milk).
