how to and where can you acquire your last recommendation of the nervous system short circuiting from alcohol withdrawals,, I can't even pronounce the word of the drug you said, is it a prescription drug? or can it be purchased at the box store?

As someone who just went through detox. Gabapentin absolutely did not help whatsoever. My symptoms only stopped when I was given Ativan.

Is this guy talking about detoxing? Because gabapebtin won’t work. Patients need diazapam or Librium. Sometimes iv Ativan

The gold standard for alcohol withdrawal is either Valium or Librium. Gabapentin not habit-forming? It sure as hell can be. Very minor withdrawal symptoms might be alleviated a bit with Gabapentin, but the literature does not reflect efficacy a a sole medication for alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

He said in an outpatient setting. In an inpatient setting during the first 3 days of withdrawal or duration of the hospital visit, Valium and Librium are definitely more appropriate.

@@davidkohno3043 I have personal experience with being given Librium and Klonopin in an outpatient setting, which is completely appropriate, even though I am not a doctor, nor giving medical advice. Reduction of symptoms using long-acting benzos either way is probably the best way to go because it would reduce the kindling phenomenon.

Valium is needed for hard core alcohol withdrawal. Gabapentin is meant for the later stages when you aren't at risk for seizures, etc.

I've heard that people going through severe and even moderate withdrawls get prescribed benzo's sometimes. Wouldn't benzo's just prolong the alcohol withdrawls since they both have an effect on Gaba?

No because baclofen is the greatest medication that works for withdrawal of all time . And it hits gaba receptors. It's takes every single withdrawal symptoms away. Nothing can touch it but it's mostly used as a muscle relaxer.

Gabapentin did nothing. The best I found was Serepax (Oxazepam), Campral, Magnesium and Vitamin B Complex

I cannot get a straight answer anywhere… if I’m a current heavy drinker and start taking Naltrexone, will it tell my brain I’m no longer drinking and start the withdrawal process?

It is supposed to reduce your desire to drink. I’ve seen it used for weight loss as well. How’s it going so far? Have you been taking it?

@@ruthbarnard6593 it definitely works. The reason I keep asking the question is because the first day after taking it, I suffered TERRIBLE withdrawal symptoms without reducing the amount I drank. Now, I had gone to the doctor and got meds to help with the withdrawal so I made it through fine, but something caused major withdrawal systems very quickly. And all I have ever done is drink alcohol. So that’s why I want to know what is going on in your brain while taking it.

Go back before 2010! Like 80y of gold standard meds are being replaced with experimental trials of high-profit psych meds. Antipsychotics SHRINK THE BRAIN..EVERY DOSE…so…

I was prescribed 4mg Zofran for use during withdrawal, worked like a charm. Paired with librium, I had virtually no physical withdrawal symptoms.

Baclofen is 1 million times better. Takes more like an hour to kick in but it doesn't "help" withdrawal,it kills it dead. Nothing can touch it. Its actually a muscle relaxer

I've been on alprazolam since 2018... Works to keep liquor away from me... Only problem is the pills run out and your back to drinking to prevent seizures

@@ms.charlie841And Benzos at least don’t have the Dopamin rush that your missing and if you don’t mix up drinks with Benzos you also don’t got that ritual. But Benzo withdrawal takes far longer and has to be tapered of much slower in my opinion. Switching to Gabapentin really is the best option or Lyrica depending on how much Alprazolam you take. There is also pure GABA powder it’s a bit calming and helps you sleep but it’s still debatable if it really fixes your GABA levels while being sober a bit.

can i ask you for some guidance? i have been drinking for 7-8 years on the weekend, binging. became a daily drinker of around 150 mg of pure alcohol or 15 standard drinks a day around 4 months a go, had a dt and hallucinosis trying to come off without stepping down or benzos, was hell, got enough xanax for 3 days atm, but have not touched it due to not having the experience using it to withdraw from etoh, i have used xanax before, what does it do for you? did it prevent the heavy gaba fluctuations that cause the symptoms, and after a few days you were fine ?
