It makes me happy that there’s no tick system here! I hate it in RuneScape PvP. Somehow, I always find it troublesome to use the tick system-sometimes I just go with the flow, but it feels unfair in RuneScape PvP.
Dungeoneering was my favorite skill. I think I’m going to like this game a lot although i think the cape designs are not as cool as the 120 capes, max, and comp cape etc from RuneScape. I love the simple colored designs that widens towards the bottom to give it definition, without it being a simple straight rag hanging off your back
@@parabornn I be more open to trying this out on mobile if I'm really honest. If the game gets a mobile and a PC release I can see it doing relatively well, not OSRS level but I think it could be as good as Albion Online (another grid based table top game similar to what is being suggested here).
Think it’s meant to style a more table top game rather than an open world dungeon. Seems mmo and very rpg. Guess we will have to see. Don’t knock it to you try it
Definitely understand what you mean. A lot of people have expressed this concern and I hope it won't be immersion-breaking. I like the table-top aesthetic though so I'm still excited!
from all the footage everything looks like tiny rooms and no open world exploring. I really hope that isn't the case. The whole magical appeal of Runescape is exploring and bumping into random players well at least it felt like that back in 2001. The square tiles make me feel like this is going to be about small areas. Like final fantasy tactics. All the best to Andrew
The passive xp thing seems like a good concept, it seems to be reduced xp rates. Seems gower brothers are aware that a decent chunk of player base will be adults and not kids that can just no-life the game
You might as well just make the game completely P2P if you're gonna give free players so little. Locking NAMING YOUR CHARACTER, CUSTOMIZATION, and TRADING behind P2P? Why even play the free version? To simulate being a Region Locked Ironman? At least in RS3, they gave free players extra content, I.E: Fletching, KBD, Giant Mole, and probably others since I've quit. What was obsolete and outdated for P2Pers, became a small gift for free players. But the ability to stand out and interact with others in a meaningful way being gatekept? I mean, I suppose it might discourage 'the riffraff' from scamming players that don't know better, but if you think people won't pay an entrance fee to disrupt the average player, just take a look at the gambling bot infestation in OSRS. (Maybe they took care of that since I've been off of that too, someone please let me know.) I suppose it all boils down to how high the entrance fee is, and if this strategy actually has a surprising amount of effectiveness and I'm worrying for nothing.
It's coming out in Quarter 3 of this year, so should be July - September. I believe there's also going to be a beta test before then so it should all happen pretty quickly!
it looks like runescape but more restrictive in how you play your character. class-based mmos typically come with a larger selection of classes, and those usually have multiple playstyles. i hope i’m wrong though. also, did they really settle on grid-based movement again?
@@scrung I think you'll be able to choose between melee, ranged and magic within each class so should have some room for unique playstyles. Are you still planning to give it a shot when it releases?
@@parabornn perhaps. Right now I'm playing rs3. The player base is insufferable tho since everytime I mention suggestion for the game, players just outright disagree with it and prefer to be stuck in the old ways. I'm thinking about playing brighter shores with the idea that it's way different than runescape and it could show that it is a whole different contender when it comes to the games mechanic. Other mmorpg games already have first person like new world. Wow even has it as well. I thought brighter shores was gonna be the same. It's still a new game though so we'll see what gower has in his sleeve
hopefully not! pking isn’t necessary for the game to thrive and be successful! it’s just a nuisance and annoying, so no, i don’t think PKing will be in the game and i’m positive a huge majority of people will agree and be happy that that is the case.
@@cosmicintervention9869respectfully you're absolutely wrong. Just because it's not your flavor doesn't mean it isn't anyone elses. It was never a "necessary" thing in osrs but still an option and should still be. If there is no pvp the game will more than likely not do well in the long run. Having options for people to do whatever the want is essential.
@themalibuexperience1623 I agree but the pvp implementation in runescape has always been probably the worst in the history of gaming, it depends too much on your ping, internet connection and player priority queue number. I never ejoyed it even during rs2 glory days. Hipefully we can see pvp done right in this game.
player to player trading being a premium feature is such a bad decision. We can see in osrs how a paywall will not stop botting since there are huge amounts of money to be made with bots. like 30% of osrs player base is bots doing revs at this very moment in mems
Yeah, definitely a lot of problems with bots in both f2p and p2p. It definitely won't get rid of botting but OSRS had to ban trading of certain resources for new f2p accounts for the same reason. So hopefully this combined with the other things will at least act as a deterrent.
I think its a great decision, it will help cut down bots, and what harm does it do? aslong as free players can use a market place its not an issue for me. Great choice
I hope to god they don't let you buy premium pass and sell them ingame like osrs bond. It will just turn in another pay to win making obtaining gear a swipe credit card fest.
This is gonna be a game that dies out after a few weeks, its nothing like runescapes depth or diversity / content. Is it kinda cool Andrew is developing a new game yeah, does it look kinda slow paced boring and maybe a little pointless in the end? Yeah. I wish this dude redone 2007 scape with his own twists from the knowledge of the game over the years that would be sick.
Definitely possible, not a lot of new MMOs thrive these days. I think he is bringing a lot of what he learned from Runescape to this game though. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised 😁
@@parabornn i’ll defo try it out. I just think it looks too laid back for me. And a little basic for the time he’s put into it since leaving rs. Again if this dude and his brother remade runescape lol that would be so sick
I know this is kind of a "cop out" response, but I could really see BS going one of two ways: • Instant success • Instant failure I think it could be wildly successful for a few reasons. If the grind is "perfected", it stands to reward like OSRS, but not be such a miserable slog -- potentially drawing OSRS players in. BS seems more accessible than OSRS. I can't convince anyone to play OSRS with me, because once they realize it takes "hundreds of hours" to get to relevant/fun content, they back out. If its done right, I think their is a good chance OSRS players play BS, like it, and divide their time between BS and OSRS. If this happens, and BS has better progression, its likely a fair amount will evaluate their time spent, and main play BS. If people start getting a "feel" for BS, and inviting other players who may not have wanted to play OSRS, that could see it rise to popularity. ... But, it could also be a shabby OSRS/RS3 reskin, people feel like its a "clone" of a game they've already invested hundreds of hours into, and it gains no traction among the playerbase that already likes this sort of game. Cause, lets be honest: BS will live or die by its ability to attract OSRS/RS3 players. Anyone who likes this style of gameplay is already playing OSRS/RS3 -- and have invested hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. BS has to convince them (consciously or subconsciously) that BS is a better time investment.
@@WilliamMcAdams Yeah, my perspective is similar to yours. I think Brighter Shores might be more attractive to new players than RS3 or OSRS. Thanks for taking the time to write that out. 😁
