What Are The Differences Between The Cessna 150 And The Cessna 152?
These two types look very similar, but are they really?
TheCessna150 and 152 are both top-rated aircraft, often used in flight training but also for private ownership. The two-seater, single-engine aircraft is known to be dependable and reliable, and both have a maximum speed of 130 knots. They are all-metal aircraft with a tricycle landing gear, a steerable nose wheel, and two main wheels. The Cessna 150 and 152 may look the same, but they have several differences.
The Cessna 150 is a high-wing aircraft that Cessna first flew in 1959, following the success of its predecessor, the Cessna 140. During its production between 1958 and 1977, over 23,000 of the type were made, and it was the second best-selling aircraft for Cessna after the Cessna 172.
It was known to handle superbly, had outstanding performance levels and was the first aircraft for many a pilot in training. Cessna called it 'the world's premier trainer.'
Four variants of the aircraft were made, all suited to a purpose. There was the 'Standard' basic version and then the 'Trainer,' which had dual controls. This was followed by the more deluxe 'Commuter,' which had added wheel fairings, and the Patroller, which could be fitted with special options.
During its almost two decades of production, there were 16 variants of the Cessna 150. They were the 150,150A, 150B, 150C, 150D, 150E, 150F, 150G, 150H, 150I, 150J, 150K, 150L, FRA150L Aerobat, 150M and the RA150M.
The Cessna 150 had a Continental 0-200-A engine that was air-cooled, horizontally opposed engines of 100 horsepower. Most of the Cessna 150s were built in Wichita, Kansas, but 1,764 were manufactured under license by Reims Aviation in France. The engine was of the same type but produced by Rolls-Royce. These particular aircraft were known as the Reims F-150 or the Cessna Reims F-150, indicating they were made in France.
Although the Cessna 150 was an extremely successful aircraft, the manufacturer introduced the Cessna 152 in 1977. The Cessna 152 was upgraded with a Lycoming 0-235 engine, which improved power (110 horsepower) and performance. The design was enhanced to increase payload and improve efficiency using 100LL fuel. It was made to compete with other popular general aviation types, such as the Beechcraft Skipper and the Piper Tomahawk.
The Cessna 150 was in production from 1977 until Cessna ceased production in 1985, by which time over 8000 examples of the type had been produced. The aircraft was known to have impressive stability and be very maneuverable, again a popular training aircraft. There were four variants: 152, F152, A152, and the FA152. All variants had the same Lycoming 0-235 engine.
Although both the Cessna 150 and 152 are considered light aircraft, they cannot be considered sport aircraft as they are heavier than the weight allowed for sport aircraft. Both have a fixed-pitch metal propeller, a four-cylinder engine, and light wing loading.
The Cessna 152 has slightly more power output than the Cessna 150. It is suited to cross-country flights as it has long-range fuel tanks. These extend the aircraft's range and duration of flight but do add additional weight and fuel burn. Both aircraft are economical in fuel consumption, but the Cessna 150 is more fuel efficient by a margin, burning 5.6 gallons an hour compared to 6.1 gallons an hour.
Cessna's 172 replaced the Cessna 152 after it ceased production. The Cessna 150 is still very much seen as the standard training aircraft, whereas the Cessna 152 is seen as a step-up between the 150 and the more powerful Cessna 172. The Cessna 152 has a little more power than its predecessor, making it a suitable transition aircraft to the Cessna 172, which also has a similar cockpit layout.

I lose all faith with this channel when they are talking about a Cessna 150/152 and show the inside of a twin Piper. Also they say engine is a "zero-" not an "O" (as in opposed).

I have 5000+ hours in Cessna 152, another some 500 hours in Cessna 150 ... the latter obviously underpowered, too light
