There is a lot I can say about carbon capture but I will keep it brief. Fibonacci sequence of piling up complexity. Paying for what used to be free; what used to be a free eco service. Humans are the only animal to pay to live on planet earth. The story of human progress is the story of humans paying for more and more of what used to be free and that adds up to increasing complexity, and humans under threat of being overtaken by the diminishing marginal returns on increasing complexity. At a lower level of fossil use use carbon capture would not be needed but would be within nature's allowance. The more we try to maintain BAU, the more we will pile up and bury ourselves under the complexities of our own making.

But no one has developed a carbon-neutral carbon capture system so they all produce more carbon than they capture!

Sustainable mining = oxymoron. "Leaving some for future generations" when have humans (other than a few communities like native American Indians) ever done that? We may leave enough for the next two generations, but what about humans and the rest of the living world after that?. We can either stop the craziness now, with some casualties obviously, or keep going until we collapse the whole ecosystem and spoil it for future humans, other animals, plants and fungi. We've got to prepare our societies for a much simpler way of life. If we just keep going on with growthism and business as usual and wait till we fall off the cliff then we are all screwed. It's crazy how these bigwigs can't face up to this. There needs to be mass education on the situation we are in, government's and the masses, then everyone will get behind doing the work to transition to a an ecologically principled rural village farming lifestyle. I can't see anything else working

About 1/2 way through listening to this. The whole thrust seems to be on techno hopium. Just looking at climate problems as an engineering problem and missing the bigger picture of ecological overshoot. The wrong goal is being aimed at; not how do we address ecological overshoot but rather how to continue BAU. How can we contain the lung cancer we have without giving up smoking. BAU means growth forever and the purpose of techno solutions is finding other energy sources and other raw materials to fuel that. The option of powering down is not even considered. Yet downsizing is the best, cheapest and most immediately available response.
