This is so timely! Linda’s Pantry used clear gel today in a pie filling and I asked her if it was the same as sure gel. Now I know the answer. Thank you so much!

Hi! How do you use clear jel to thicken soups or gravies? Just sprinkle it into the hot broth? Or make a slurry?

Very useful information, I’ve always used flour or corn starch for gravy but I’m going to try the clear gel. Where can I get it?

thank you for this. Question....I purchased therm flo (at the suggestion of another utuber) and it came with absolutely no instruction on how to use. Can't find anything on how to use it and the person who suggested it left the building on this... Can you give me any direction on how to use it? I now have a 5lb bag of it and don't know how to use it : (

Super easy! Add 1/4 cup to each quart of boiling liquid, depending on how thick you want it. If you are doing soup, you may use a little less. It will thick up in a couple of minutes, so keep stirring. Can or serve! 😊

I opened a jar of blueberry pie filling from 2016 and it had gotten runny and I used clear jel. My dump cake was not good. next time when I see that i'll use some thickener before I bake it

Long term, they all start to break down a little, clear jel hold up the best. 😊 Yes, you can always thicken more when you open the jar up.

I didn't see arrowroot in there. I have used it and see recipes using that as a thickener.

I just did the few most common that I had in my pantry. There are obviously a lot more to choose from for thickening agents. Sorry

Those are not thickeners you can use for canning. This video was about the most common thickeners and what to can with. I get lots of questions about these.

No, they are not interchangeable!! Sure jell is for jams and jellies only! Clear jel won’t gel like sure jell, but will thicken.
