Wind power and solar power are bit more cost effective. The devices to capture the energy need lots of repairs and damaged components end up as hazardous waste such as the giant blades on those wind towers.😂 the actual studies pretty much state solar panels are good but require constant cleaning and are unreliable due to cloudy days of the years. They can reduce cost but not become the main source of power for the grid. If the whole usa turned to only solar power for a single night we would end up in the negatives (black outs) due to the fact we beed power constantly being generated, we cant store that amount of electricity that would be needed for 8-12 hours of no sunlight, then at the start and close to the end of the day power would hardly ve generated 😂 my rant is to say don’t be a fool, the grid needs as many sources as possible. And no one energy source thats unpredictable will become the main source of energy. Damns are the most cost effective way of producing energy…. While being eco friendly…🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

He's supposed to be the foremost expert on the recommendation he was giving and so he should have been able to cite the study verbatim before that committee. The problem is that he is dead wrong on the facts. 1. He tried to say that we had no control over the Global Market, which is why our gas prices were soaring (and are now again), but that obviously omits the reality that the US was a net EXPORTER of oil just a few short years ago, meaning that global market prices for oil would have ZERO net effect on US gas prices if we hadn't shut down so much of our oil industry including the Keystone XL pipeline under Biden. 2. Wind and Solar are more cost effective in the amount of energy produced only if you omit the amount of energy and funds to get them up and running and maintain them. Also, you have to factor in that they do not produce any power when the at night or when the wind isn't blowing and we still don't have a proper solution for this issue, hence why Germany had to reignite some of the Nuclear power plants they were trying to shutter prior to the Russian/Ukraine issues, DESPITE being the worlds foremost adopters of wind and solar power. These and more cannot be hand waved away as irrelevant when trying to supplant oil. You just can't. We need to learn the lessons of Germany and elsewhere and realize that the technology is not in a state to replace fossil fuels yet and stop pretending that it's "more cost effective" actually means what they claim it does, because that isn't even half of the picture.

Big oil has almost 10,000 UNUSED leases they are NOT drilling on so limited fossil fuel use is ONLY hampered by big oil. As far as renewable energy technology "not working", I owned a hybrid vehicle ten years ago that was getting almost 50 mpg and was the envy of my friends because of what I spent on gas in one month and that was pretty good! One more reason to keep investing in renewable energy NOW.

Second, just because you have a suitable drilling site, doesn’t mean you can start drilling immediately. You need facilities, infrastructure, personnel, and permits to drill from the government. The Oil Companies who have every incentive to produce more for record profit in the vacuum of a Russian Oil ban, or our current President with a track record of hostility to drilling? How about the price of diesel now? Notice it's higher than gas? Guess why? It requires certain types of oil and special additives or something because of............. Environmental control. Diesel could easily be $2. Diesel at $2 means inflation disappears.

But then there were no more shortages . . . higher prices => more supply.

Just imagine if we had an energy source that the Saudis couldn't throttle the supply of, driving up prices?
