I am so amazed about the sprinting! Been strength training for many years but when adding sprints, WOW. At 52 I suddenly gained a lot of fat around my abdomen. Started sprinting and fasting and tried to not eat processed food as mush! For Real, the fat melted around my midsection! And I could literally see it after the first time! Just do it!!
Dr. Sean,,,hooray!! I am a 69 yo RN. Great job you are doing. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I think I’ll jump up and clean out the cupboards and refrigerator. Then produce some growth hormone with short bursts of MIT exercises. I am going to ‘get tough’! My grandchildren and I have many more waterfalls to visit.
have ran two marathons but have totally switched my endurance training mindset to interval training thanks to you. even at first I was doing slow jogs in between my sprints! but today I only walked in between my 30 second all out sprints and for this reason, my sprints were more powerful!!! I cant really "sprint" for 30 seconds. it is really 20 second sprint then just as fast I can run for those last 10 seconds during each of my 30 second bouts haha. but it works for me! also, driving home from errands today, your voice was in my head so I rolled up my windows, turned off AC and created my own INFERNO in my jeep in this Houston summer lol and sure enough, I beaded up with sweat on arms, legs, face, neck, abdomen, back in literally 2 min. and drove home like that 🔥and all this after such great stair master intervals followed by 30 min of sprints/walks this morning!! powerful stuff man! thanks Dr SEan!!!
Thank you Dr Sean! Have been watching your videos for last couple weeks, and am totally blown away!! Started cutting out wheat and sugar a year and a half ago and have been improving my diet ever since, low carb. Started fasting a few months ago and definitely have seen and felt improvements. But, as a long time mtn biker have always been fixated on endurance training. That is going to stop now! BFR bands are ordered, and will be sprinting soon. (Currently recovering from a pulled hamstring, mtn bike crash). 57 yrs old. Pls continue your efforts, we need to get the word out!!! I see so much ill health everywhere, and everyone thinks it's normal
Thank you Dr. Gulhane. While insurance companies will never cover the costs patients can pay out of pocket and while not cheap it is the best test I know for improving health & reversing disease when combined with lifestyle strategies to reverse disease.
@@DrSeanOMara Yes. As you say lots of the battle is convincing radiologist and other clinicians to report on visceral fat staring them in the face! Would be great to get you on my podcast to talk about this, I think you're doing extremely valuable work
The olympic sprinters core muscles - wow...I need to do some core strengthening workouts, would like to see an MRI of an elite middle distance runner for comparison. (be cool to see an MRI scans of elite sprinters, vs. middle distance, vs marathoner for comparison)
Whoa Dr Sean-please do a video showing what you mean by weights in short periods of time! This is the first time I’ve heard you say this. It fits with your narrative but how do we do this. Thanks ❤ I can’t get enough of your practical insights and suggestions.
Hey Sean greetings from Birmingham UK! I have did Keto back in 2019 and it was a life saver. I am currently starting putting my health first again. Keep up the good work!
Dr. Sean, I thought about you yesterday morning (I’m 63, carnivore, and fit). I was at a college football watch party for over 4 hours at a local sports bar. Only water for me btw. I can sit for a few minutes but I prefer to stand most of the time. It’s so much more comfortable. Can you guess how many others stood? Lol - zero! For over 4 hours! Would you talk about prolonged sitting and the affect it has on our bodies?
Interested on your perspective on woman and fasting. There is so much conflicting information. Also interested in more female post-menapausal guidance. Thank you for sharing your findings
We definitely need more studies on women but I am confident our species fasted by circumstance not election for four mil years to include women and even children.
Woman here, I agree that fasting has occurrences throughout our history among both genders. So I am choosing fasting. Right now I’m up to being able to fast for 24 hours. I would also like to see more research on women when it comes to fasting, visceral fat, and more. Can we also get visible pulses? I wonder about that. I am getting more prominent veins on my hands and forearms now. How much they show varies a lot (seems to change depending on when I’ve eaten, if I’m in a cold environment, my activity level at the moment, my salt intake, and probably other things). For example, they looked full and prominent right after my meal, but now that I’ve been sitting and working on an ink drawing for some time while listening to this video, they are much less noticeable.
Yes to women having visible pulses. When I'm outside walking in the sun I can now see them on my wrists after incorporating sprinting and cutting out all carbs, and adding in ferments.
Inspiring! Thank you for doing this! I started working sprints into my morning brisk walks. I’m loving it, working my way up to longer and more. Always been athletic and active playing baseball with my boys. I don’t want to list my mobility as I age so decided to add sprint. Now I’m finding info on how beneficial it is. I’m 45, 6’3,5”, 180 lbs, with 14.x% body fat , visceral fat 5 (Renpho smart scale) and metabolic age of 40. Being active and healthy has so many benefits to all aspects of life!
Do spider veins go away after implementing all those changes? I’ve been carnivore for 10 months and I haven’t noticed any changes, I’m also weightlifting and I just started sprinting this week after finding your videos.
I would love to hear more from the experiences of any female clients especially vis-à-vis hormonal factors. You might pride yourself on hairier arms, but we don’t want that. And any tips for tummies that have had multiple c-sections?
That's a marker for men. Not women. Maybe try rubbing vitamin e oil+coconut oil on the tummy and do 24 hour fasts twice or thrice a week. God bless you
Doc, I just found your channel. I have experienced the same results on my own the past three years. I agree with everything you say. I had issues with my Achilles so sprinting has not been an option so I use High intensity swimming. Hoping to incorporate sprinting soon.
Possibly the most important video on health for me at 50 (next week) I’ve seen in a while! Doing a lot of this protocol already except the extended fasting. Currently OMAD, couple of questions… If I were to fast 3/7 is it best to eat ad libitum the rest of the time and was thinking of sprinting a couple of times during the fast, is that a good idea?
Actually better than Anna Deb you should actually force yourself to eat considerably more and stretch out your stomach so it can begin to accommodate a feast fasting existence. As you age protein absorption is diminish your capacity free, therefore eating large amounts of healthy meat will be beneficial to offset this, secondly, I exercise in sprint during my fasting and basically rest in my feeding days. I might do one or two sprints during the four days I’m feeding, but I am working out like crazy in my fasted state. This follows nature in our existence for most of our 4 million years rather than how we’re living today in our diseased filled modern existence.
Thanks for replying. Appreciate the advice and wisdom! Will sprint fasted! And maybe add in a bit of bouldering in the sun too! Won’t limit myself on feasting days, that sounds lovely!
