I'm in my 70th year and I've been thinking about this for a very very long time too. I'm just passing through this weary old world, I'm an eternal soul just having a human experience, can we change this realm that we are in? My answer is no, are we here to change this world? Again my answer is no, it is what it is, this has all been created by a being or beings that we cannot even comprehend what they are. I do believe we are not the top of the food chain and like farm animals we are being brought here for our loosh, or energy. Is there a way to leave here and not be reincarnated again and again? That's my quest to find out how I can be able to never return to this sad evil place of endless pain and suffering. I'm going back home to where I belong.

I've thought a lot about that, in Buddhism it would be the bodhisattva that as enlightened himself for the need to not live anymore lives. However.... there is also the belief that an enlightened person wishes to return, as he understands the need for conflict and strife in order to make life worth living. I believe it's closely related to alchemy, the idea that once a person has developed the skills to create gold from lead, he no longer wants the gold at all. The discovery was the journey itself❤

One of my favourite quotes came from an old English poetry book being thrown out by a used book store. Thomas B Macaulay. Used in a recent movie or two. "How can we die better than facing fearful odds for the ashes of our fathers, and the temples of our Gods"... We must live for our potential, built on those who came before, and live for the future generations, as they did for us... And 'dying for the temples' is our meaning, the path we follow with devotion and commitment...

Have you heard of Iain. M. Banks? He’s a great author who speculated on education, labor etc in a “post labor world” caused by advanced AI. He’s suggests that we use it to free up human time to do whatever we like. That “whatever we like” part is crucial, it’s mostly suggested that we use it for personal development in the form of play… rather than work. That doesn’t mean one couldn’t learn to build a house, it simply means that there wouldn’t be a survival incentive behind learning the skills needed to survive. Same thing for jobs across the board.

I just entered my 39th year, and I'm struggling through the muck man. BTW I did a mens wilderness vision quest last summer, loosely borrowed from some of the Native American tradition. Best experience of my life, but I'm still trying to figure out how to integrate the experience in my life... rather than wanting to just "run away" to the mountains like that for good.

Integrating the experiences the challenge. Always. And remembering not to forget. Which isn't easy. Each decade I go through the cycles, the phases, I don't know how much astrology or planets or magnetism have to do with it, but I know there's something there. I've come to the conclusion in part that it's not important to try and identify where or why or who or what, we think too much. I just do what I can, Amor fati, Memento Mori..... I've been studying a lot about Greek mythology and my love Native American lore as it is all tied to that grand essence we are part of, which is so easy to forget

My story is about my own spiritual journey and the many things that people also doubt. I was born in 1951 and was adopted at birth to two WW2 vets. My dad fought at and was wounded at Normandy. My mother served at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Growing up I and my friends spent our time outdoors, mostly in the woods of northern West Virginia. I fished, hunted and trapped all the forests and waters in our area up through my high school years. During high school I was swept up into the hippie movement of the late sixties and spent several years pursuing the dream of a better life through all the things the movement was promising. I guess it was more about rejecting the way the post war culture lived life than anything else. There were too many inconsistencies / hypocrisies. After a few years of living the alternative lifestyle of the 60’s and early 70’s many young people became disillusioned with the movement and started looking for truth. I connected with some of them and we began seeking answers. I moved onto a farm that was in my friend’s family. For several years we lived on this 500 acre farm - worked it and sought answers. We studied every religion, philosophy and experts on human behavior. There was an extended group of six of us who would gather and pour over our thoughts and experiences. One of the later religions we immersed ourselves in was the Native American beliefs. This above all the others connected us with the spirits around us and gave us powers. You speak of the woods becoming still whenever one of the Bigfoot are around. That was a skill that I had mastered and I freaked out a few of my friends. It came from the native belief that we can make ourselves “available” or “unavailable” to the forces around us. I could make everything go silent and then make the wind sweep in and everything come alive through my own will power. My friend and I also developed what you refer to as mind speak. We could plant a thought in the other's mind like "Call Me" and the other would. We were very close and could read each other very well. It comes down to being truly connected and available. I could also listen to the birds' songs and tell what they were communicating to each other. Once I freaked out a close friend who was part Cherokee and an avid outdoor enthusiast. We had hiked out a power line and were sitting on top of a ridge. This was around noon. The birds around us were chattering away. I asked him if he ever just stopped and listened to what they were saying. He gave me a weird look and scoffingly said “Alright, what are they saying”. I told him they were saying that “rain is coming at 5pm”. There was no rain in the forecast but exactly at 5pm it started to rain. He called me and asked how I did that. He just couldn’t accept that we can be connected with nature on another level.There were many other powers that my friend and I experienced. However, we came to a place in all this that left us empty handed. We just didn’t have that elusive certainty that this was the right path. During all this seeking we continued to read the bible and felt that its teachings held a special place above everything else. So we decided that we were going to use it as a blueprint for life and we worked hard at that for about a year. Then one day it hit me that in many of the other paths that we pursued there had come very real spiritual power, but I hadn’t encountered anything like that in my “Christian” walk. So I actually said out loud “God, I believe you exist but I don’t have any actual proof. Show me”. A couple of days later while drinking my morning coffee and watching a couple of ministers on TV (700 club) praying over a stack of prayer requests, it happened. They were giving out words of knowledge about prayers being answered and people being healed. Just then I had a waking vision. It was like the side of the trailer opened up and I was looking out over the hills and valleys. There were mists coming up out of the valleys and being blown away by a gentle wind. Then a clear voice said to me “I’m answering those prayers and this is what it looks like”. I was stunned! About this time the ministers were leading people in the sinners prayer and I fell to my knees and followed along. The little 40ft trailer I was in filled with a powerful presence that was both loving and holy. This presence seemed to come in from the west side of the trailer to my left. While this was happening I had an “out of body” experience. I was fully aware of kneeling on the floor and also standing to my right observing it all. That began my true Christian life and I’ve always been grateful it happened just the way it did. That was in 1975… It was difficult at first deciphering what spiritual truths and powers were acceptable for someone who is supposed to be a disciple of Christ, but giving it all up to him was key. Over the years I have had many profound experiences while following the Holy Spirit. I have seen angels and interacted with them. I have cast demons out of people and places and I have raised one person from the dead. Jesus said these signs would follow those who are his disciples. Unfortunately, most churches shy away from spiritual things. I would love to share all of those experiences with you but it would take days. There is one that I must share. It happened about 20 years (1995) after my conversion. I had been going through a three week long process of the Holy Spirit cleaning me out - opening me up and exposing things that I believed or felt that were not right or true. It was wonderful and excruciating at the same time. I came to place where I knew there was just one more thing that God wanted to show me and I just could not get to it. I would pray and meditate and just kept coming up empty. Then one evening I had just come back from a trip to town and sat down in my rocking chair and started intensely worshipping God. Suddenly, I was caught up into heaven. I was above the earth and there were stars everywhere. The earth below me was covered in dark clouds and in those clouds I could see something even darker. It was pacing back and forth like it was waiting for me to come back down. I somehow knew that this was that one thing that I needed to understand. I began to think of all the gifted people who I could maybe relay this experience / vision to and find some answers. One by one their names were struck down in my thoughts. Then I realized where I was. I was sitting on the lap of God. Immediately, like a child, I thought “He knows everything. I’ll just ask him”. As I turned my head I was immediately transported back to that little trailer on the farm. I was standing there watching myself pray the sinner's prayer. When I came to a particular part I hesitated and didn’t know why back then. Now I realized why. That phrase was “I will serve you all the days of my life”. You have rightly said that our words have power and they do. At that moment of brokenness on my knees the last thing God would want to hear from me is a vow that we both knew I couldn’t keep to any worthwhile measure. The reality is I had made a shambles of my life running from the things I didn’t agree with and running right into something worse. It would have been acceptable to say something like “God, create in me a servant’s heart”. Yes, I time travelled back to 1975….Whether in the flesh or just spirit, I don’t know. Jesus is who he said he was. It's not about religion.

That is a beautifully written comment, and I appreciate your insight. I don't have anything to add to your story, except mine is similar in the sense that I have sought many different paths until I realized the only path worth pursuing is the one worth asking about. Who are you god? Am I my brother's keeper? I realized that many people use Christ as an archetype for that connection to the divine, and I think it is beautiful. It only goes astray when people believe it is the only path, as I believe there are many different branches you just have to have enough power within the trunk to support them

@@carpo719 The power and beauty of God I experienced that day in 1975 left everything else behind. Church is a difficult subject. We all know that. But I found a church where people had a true spiritual encounter with Jesus and they love the truth. The grace of God and his love for us is amazing. You mentioned Jung. Suddenly Disney is out of magic, Paris is no longer romantic, New York doesn't stand up anymore, the Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty. Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can't get you the oxygen you're fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. I've always had an antipathy towards God and Jesus. My biggest issue being, "Why did you give me life or existence." I am the worst of sinners. Recently I came to terms with God and realize the gift of life (to an extant). God does forgive all sins, but you have to want forgiveness. Furthermore, you can only truly petition God for forgiveness if you are able to forgive others.

Because they think that they can predict all of the consequences of their actions or at least feel comfortable enough not knowing and yet still proceed with their decisions. @@carpo719 I really wish I knew. Been 40+ years trying to think of how things could be different. It's easy to say it could be like this or that. But it is what it is and unfortunately there is no end in sight to the economic system we are all beholden to. Hard to think outside of the box when you're forced into it. Only until catastrophic collapse comes will humans be able to make a genuine shift. Fortunately, the people who plan seem to be heading us all in that direction whether intentional or not. All I know is that if you are rich and well connected you will more than likely be ushered into the new world when it comes falling down on everyone's head and the rest of us just get squashed. I think it is more than coincidental that the wealthy are so hard pressed to get robotic AI up and running while the world is teetering at the precipice of a seemingly intentional disaster. Anyone who has ever worked a piece of land knows how resilient Nature is. You can bulldoze it, bomb it, burn it, flood it, whatever, and it will grow back. The real problem is not the Earth failing, it is humanity failing in its responsibility to this planet. Best thing for the planet and humanity is less humans. Social engineers know that far too well. So they will make robots to replace the working class, let the lower classes whither away, and then the wealthy can live on a paradise with their rechargeable, repairable, replaceable, ethically moot slaves. As for the so called 'leaders' of the world, I came to realise when I became an adult that my idea when I was a child that adults knew exactly what they were doing was a false notion and the honest reality of it is most don't have a clue what they are at and for the most part we are led by the very least among us with barely any life enlightenment are pushing the masses off of a cliff. Not all mind you but most. We the people will need to build our own worlds, the world we build will come from the ashes of this disaster of a system we come out of. 12:27 As a Christain you are supposed to share the "Good News." The Good News is that your sins are forgiven, and that God does love. A Christian can't horde the good news and parse it out to people liked and disliked.
@carpo719
@carpo719 Месяц назад
I do understand that, and believe sharing good news is a good thing. However when it becomes dogmatic, and One Believes they have the only answer, that's when it becomes a problem. I see every human and every belief system is legitimate so long as it helps the person and those around them lead a better life

@@carpo719 Religious faith has to be dogmatic to an extant or else it would not be a religious faith. How about fanatical? In my comments I am attempting to proselytize, but I have never been good at sales.

But never in history have we had the ability to completely destroy civilization within hours. Technology sets us apart, as far as we know, from all prior generations. We also have instant access to all information, I definitely see it as a unique time.

It's God's will, is it not? I know, loaded question. But assuming you have as little faith as you appear to, your question will never be answered, hence the roll of spiritual doctrine. You are the only preacher you're willing to listen to, no? Time to get strong and map the journey once and for all.
