WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!? + Rupert's First Haircut

I've bought three houses now, and manged to avoid ever using a removal company- I/we just couldn't bring myself to spend the money! 🤣 Tips: 1) remove rupert. Get him out of the situation. Preferably the day before, and don't have him around until the day after. 2) pack the gin last 3) if you're putting stuff in storage/parents garage (done the parents house thing twice now) make sure you label boxes to the nines! Both times I wish I'd written a list of what was in each box and taped it to the side, rather than just generic labels like 'kitchen'. 4) buy more gin 5) pack clothes seasonally, especially if you've got no time line moving forward. Make sure you have access to those boxes easily 7) gin: means you need the gin glasses 8) dust sheets for the van and putting underneath/around furniture for removal and storage 9) G-I-N 10) don't try and move everything on one day- we did it over two all three times and only just managed it 11) did I mention gin? 12) make friends with strong people. Pay in food. 13) make sure you're covered with insurance on big items as the removal company would have had their own insurance. 14) try and have as few 'temporary' addresses as possible, because otherwise mortgage/bank/job applications become a nightmare! 15) GIN!!!!!! 16) double check where your storing things isn't damp/everything you pack is dry. We thought we were OK, but one 'slightly damp' bath mat ruined a whole bag of clothes. All the best!

Aww thanks for sharing so much of Rupert with us. The eating dilemma is real. LOL I went through that with my little Cherub who is now 46 and eats everything in sight. I can remember he hated dinner unless it was tacos or plain pasta. One morning we had a standoff on hot oatmeal on a snowy cold day and he refused to eat it and I refused to let him eat the bad sugary stuff. He won. Bottom line is that I found when he had a growing spurt he ate everything in sight and other times more battles. I guess what I am trying to say is when I stopped worrying so much, things were easier. I know - easier said than done. Your dream is starting to come true so good for you. Congrats on the house sale!! Moving is such a pain, and yes, moving companies are crazy expensive!! Fortunately, you're young enough still to do it yourself and drag some unsuspecting friends into the project to help. Rupert's first haircut went incredibly smooth. He seemed genuinely happy through most of it. Even with editing, it doesn't look like he was screaming bloody murder or anything dreadful, and he was able to get a really nice cut. Hair cut or not though, you two made one of the cutest babies ever, so no matter what, he's always adorable. Hopefully holiday is going, or did go, well and looking forward to the posts about that. Skiing is always a good time, so counting on some great footage.

When I was a kid I discovered pasta with butter. My mother claimed she caught me dragging a chair to stove and try to make it vf myself. I'm 12 1/2 % Italian. That explains my love all things pasta ! I think Rupert would like it too !!!

Omg my godson is almost 4 and has hit the food regression stage, we've tried bribery with pudding, reasoning, tough love, nothing is working can you make a tune for all food issues coz this is brilliant. Oh my goodness. Was Rupert just not the best boy sitting on Megan’s lap for the haircut. He was so serious!!! Congratulations on the house selling. This will sound OTT but I pre printed different colored paper “labels” to stick on the boxes. ie pink for master bedroom, blue for kitchen. They still had the room name printed on in large bold capitals. One label for the top of the box (not where you tape it) and one for the side. If you can manage 2 sides even better. Still write the contents on each label. Very time consuming but well worth it at the other end. Professional packers always pack by room. Last 2 boxes out - one should have the tea kettle, coffee, mugs, plates, spoons, scissors, biscuits and other essentials, the other box should have cleaning materials, cloths, toilet roll, towels, tea towels, basic tool set, etc. Those could maybe be with you in the rental. When you finally buy your new home if you can manage not to sleep in it the first couple of nights that is so more relaxing. Trying to build and then make up beds the same day as moving in adds more stress.

Moving companies are a luxury, we have never wanted to spend our money on. Thus be smart about where you move, It gets harder every time.

We recently moved. We were not able to afford any moving company. My two I children got all their friends. We hire a truck. My daughter had everything organized. Her husband is much more organized. He had lots of plastic to wrap all of our furniture. Bubble wrapping for all my mirrors. My delicate China. It cost us a lot less. Call all your friends. We bought lots of pizzas and fry chicken.
