Great video. I feel the same way as you, I too have both luxury handbags and contemporary. The longevity and craftsmanship in brand such as Dooney and Bourke and Coach surpass those of LV and Gucci to name a few. We are paying for the brand and the prestige of owning their name. The Dooney Florentine satchel is one of the best quality made bags that I've ever seen and had the pleasure of owning and I've been a handbag collector for 30 years now. Agree with everything you said, also some luxury brands don’t produce in france, Italy, spain etc instead they make the main parts of the bags in China and put the final touches in France so they can put the made in France stamp on and keep the fantasy of made in France completely handmade by artisans when in reality now is all mostly mass produced, for years i wanted an LV bag, then 2 years ago i saw the coach Rogue 25 and fell in love with it so much i got 4 and then this Christmas my husband surprised me with the LV rivoli pm, i was shocked as i did not expected to receive such a present and very excited since i was finally going to have an LV bag, and don’t get me wrong i think the bag is beautiful and so femenine but if im completely honest i wasn’t as blown away as i was when i received my Rogues, their quality, craftsmanship and beautiful leather make these bags absolutely stunning, every time i carry my Rogues i feel well put together, like i don’t feel i should carry my LV to feel more “elevated “, i think people sometimes focus too much on the brand instead of the quality.
The magic is definitely in the hype! Here's what I understand about luxury bags - a lot of the cost is in the touted handmade production of the bags for some brands, the artistry, and the logo. If it's in your budget and something you truly want, then by all means go for it. But the other brands that offer similar bags, often have the same, if not better quality products (i.e. Coach) and are much more affordable.
Well said and I could not agree with you anymore. It really is a rip off and especially when you are not getting leather. They are really laughing at us trying to look rich 🤑 silly of us 🤷🏼♀️ this is why I have been thinking of selling all of my LV bags..

This was an excellent conversation for you to have. And I agree but with a tiny few exceptions. There are still a few products around that when you touch the leather you know you are touching quality. When you look at the stitching and the hardware you know it is good quality. I know it's not very often but it does happen once in a while. Bvlgari springs to mind as an example. But just like you said, when I compare my Vuitton leather Metis to my Coach Cassie I think yes the Metis has a little nicer leather but for the most part they are very similar and one is much cheaper. Additionally the cheaper one, the Coach Cassie, seems at least to me to be more durable than my Metis. Thank you for saying what you did, I have had these thoughts many times myself and I have often been disappointed in my luxury goods. You gave me a wonderful new perspective. I have been enjoying your videos for quite sometime now so I thank you for the them as well.
I’ve stuck with 2 basic luxury slgs for my cards and keys from ysl and my handbags are from Tory burch and coach. Honestly I feel like you will have better luck ordering from a high quality replica seller than the actual Louis Vuitton store from the stories I’ve heard lately 😂
