All my saws have at least an open muffler so no completely stock. My three saw group that will handle everything is my 194t, stump shot 400 and base gasket deleted/muflfer mod 066 with a timing advance. If it was really huge or a dirty tree I’d use my 090 with 41” .404 which i guess I do own a stock saw and that’s it.
My original thoughts, before watching the video: 1. Echo 501p/Husqvarna 550xp. I haven’t owned or operated either, but would want to see which is better for small bucking. I do own an Echo 620p and Stihl MS 311, 620p is definitely better for the same relative price point. 2. Echo 7310p, I do own this one. Would use for the bigger bucking. 3. Husqvarna 592/Husqvarna 595. I would use either for felling trees. I want more power to ensure cuts are going through on up to 48” in diameter oaks. Let’s see what the Texas porting genius says. Any additional feedback is welcomed.
Lol, I'm no genius. A lot of other people build stuff much better than me. I am just trying to put out good work with good results and improve on each one.
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors You not taking a compliment serves no real purpose. My second favorite quote personally, only behind the “Man in the Arena” quote is as follows: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. From “Signs of Genius: 13 Traits That Set Brilliant Minds Apart” Mental Flexibility: Geniuses possess an open-mindedness that enables them to adapt their thinking and problem-solving strategies to suit diverse situations. They embrace change and are not bound by rigid perspectives, remaining receptive to alternative approaches.
The quotes are excellent and your prior compliment is much appreciated but i am just a bit above average as a builder. There are people that build amazing stuff and it would be wonderful if i acheived that in the future. I strive to deliver the best result I can but i still work toward improvement. I want to avoid hubris because it would lead me to become complacent.
👍👍 stock- that rules out the echo 310, but a small light saw for ground work. I’d go with and 026 or echo 490/4910. 372 and something really big-288, 395, etc.
Really depends where your located. For me I’ve never ran into anything I needed over a 28” and haven’t ran much outside of what I’ve owned. Stock Husqy T540 Mk3 Husqy 545 Mk2 Husqy 562 Mk2 Ported Echo 2511 shindaiwa 492 Stihl 400
Yeah on occasion there are big cottonwoods or monster oaks that need a BIG bar. I think the saw guys in the southern states need to figure out a race/get together in the next year or two. Not too many folks get an opportunity to run a variety of saws down here.
The 4910, 20 inch or 18 inch bar. Husqvarna 562xp with a 24. Stihl 500i 28 inch and up. The echo because it is so light. I used it for construction, brushing out am area. Working overhead. Husqvarna for firewood cutting and small to medium felling. 500i big wood everything. I say the 4910 over the 550 XP just because of that lightness and 4910 almost feels like a toy to me. I just need the 562 to round out the trifecta. I think even if I went forwarded I would probably keep the same saws. If I went 90cc's it would definitely be the 592 100%. That 500i is a special saw the 400C is also a special saw for that lightweightness and power but they do both oil like crap. Maybe I would sub the 7310 for the 500 in modified form. I really do like echoes for some reason I can't really say I'm any kind of chainsaw guy I don't really favor I recognize when a brand has a better saw at a particular size and I don't care which one it is. But something about the ergos on those echoes that I just prefer oddly enough. You're right about 4910 brisco saw. Freaking thing hums. His 7310s blow me away too. I call him the echo whisperer lol
You can put a better oiler in the 362/400 Stihl. Personally can’t see the 7310 echo in place of the 500i at any point but it’s a different class anyway runs with the 572 and 462 stihl
Yup, i've talked with him about it. It runs good, i'd like to know the real number but it's fine if i dont. One day I'll send something to Joe's and find out.
