@Artetasnumberonepickpocket I would have preferred a Bernardo Silva but there's noone of that level who fits our system. Can't settle for nothing. Merino can definitely do a decent job when Rice plays 6. More importantly, need a winger to compete with martinelli saka and score goals.
I have no idea how "a player from Real Sociedat who can do a decent job" gives you the confidence that Arsenal _will_ win the league...against a City team who have a midfield of KDB, Foden, Gundogan, Bernardo, Kovacic, Stones, Lewis and Rodri. That's not counting Bobb, McAtee or O'Reilly who also "can do a decent job"

I think the difference from last season is massive, only beat Nottingham Forest thanks to magic from Saka, Nketiah and Martinelli but this game we were the better team. Also in the first half of last season we were being forced wide meaning we were forced to put crosses in which was a problem because up front we had 5'9 Jesus and 5'10 Eddie up front. That was the point where everyone said we needed a striker. That was all fixed when 6'4 Havertz was moved up front.
The reason why we were more efficient first half was we were quick with our passing interchanges. Particularly on the right, we were good passing thru the lines between Odegaard and Saka. What we need to deal with was the drop in intensity following start second half to 60-70min period Changes could have been made earlier.
As always a quality analysis of the game. This is one of my favorite segments on AFTV. I have to also point out that I really prefer you guys sitting during the discussion as opposed to standing in front of the screen. This feels more relaxed and is more engaging for us viewers. The comment about Arteta making Havertz the player that Chelsea couldn't by Graham was spot on. After seeing what he did with Xhaka, I had faith that he wouldn't have splurged on Havertz if he wasn't 100% convinced that he could extract these abilities from him.
Agree on the left side improvement; not where it should be yet, but I noticed significant positives. I'll not be surprised if the left side clicks better with time and this season ends up being Martineli's
two very critical points made in this interview: 1) build consistency at the right back such that Martinelli can get a proper partnesrhip, 2)you dont have to buy a winger, turn Jesus officially into a winger to backup Saka and buy a proper No.9.
I bet the players and Arteta watch this, coz I would if I was Arsenal manager I would! Why? Its a connection between the team and the fans. Any manager will want the fans on their side. The signings, how we play, the connection has been built. Are we better fans than City's? Now back our boys for 40 games this season!
Zinchenko looked good in preseason really? People need to get past his offensive skill. He was vulnerable defensively and was beat multiple times and disturbs our center backs and rice for having to cover for him. We play zinchenko we will not win the league. Tired of hearing how he is playing well. It doesn’t matter bc he will see very very little of the pitch w Timber available who is a weapon offensively and defensively

yes we need a new striker to help us score direct goals not build up goals. Think henry and sanchez. We are trying to be unpredictable; throw it in the mix
If u are second in the league for 2nd time in a row, you would upgrade your team rightly to ensure you end up no.1 on your 3rd try. The defence is decent enough and not an issue, but yet went on to spend money, buying a defender first. He over relied on Saka, and whenever he is not in form, there is no capable substitute. 2nd priority is a true striker, Havertz is not a striker, Jesus is also not an outright striker. Yet he does not buy one who can make a difference when u need someone who can run at defender and turn the game around whenever they are down.
It's all about mitigating risk. What if Saka gets knocked? Where will your 29 goals b crosses come from? Also we were not competitive in FA cup or CL It's myopic & naive to think at this stage of competition with everyone fresh, we have enough to last thru the season. Saka needs a realistic alternate in his position. Ditto Havetz bc Jesus isn't banging them in. In terns of striker, we need someone who can give us a diff tool. Arteta hasArsenal being nearly men for several seasons now and no trophies Minimum We need to try n win the FA cup, PL should be the goal and then CL as far as we can go in the knock out anything goes. You need a deeper squad. Everything looks great now, it's when a couple of first team pieces fall off when we see the truth and we will need the depth.
I love Graham but I’m shocked he talking about Partey making some sloppy mistakes while the likes of Saliba did the same. JT who had not played 60 minutes did the same which all errors could have resulted in goals. He didn’t talk about it like he did with that of Partey. Talk about his passing and other intelligent stuff he is in the game also.
Thanks for your opinion Chris and I respect what you have to say . I did try to offer a balanced view of Partey's performance . I was in the stadium on Saturday and the eye test told me he was struggling physically around 55-60 minutes . So I checked the numbers to give you my opinion . As I said his first half was excellent. He did make four passes that led to shot making actions . However second half he gave the ball away four times in his own half and 5 times overall , which is worrying for a DM . You are right Saliba also gave the ball away and on one occasion on the edge of our box which Cunha could not take advantage of . I don't think Partey was solely responsible for that difficult half an hour and if you felt I was solely making him responsible and going in too much on him; fair enough I respect your opinion , but that was not my intention. I just felt his drop off was one example of many drop offs from the Arsenal players at 1-0, which allowed Wolves to build momentum . I can't recall Arsenal at home playing that way under Arteta where leading 1-0 , we sit for a long period of time in a mid to low block I agree with you Saliba made a few errors in the second half . As I said I do love Partey as a player . I just try to be honest and objective and I did use numbers to prove what I was trying to say . The great thing about football is it is a game of opinions and your opinion is perfectly valid . Thanks for your support for the show .

You clearly didn't watch the show in its entirety because you have totally come to the wrong conclusion We never over-hyoed the team Far from it. The first half of the show we highlighted the positives and the second half of the video , we discussed the concerns from the performance In particular, how Wolves pushed us back in the second half and we lost control of the game for half an hour
Improved. It’s the SAME TEAM AS LAST SZN!!! We’re not winning the league cus our squad depth can’t match or be better than City’s. Their bench on Sunday was disgusting ours has 1/2 good players. Feels like Wenger missing 2 players don’t get them
Football is not black and white like that. A lot of people think this way about the gaffer which is a shame. He’s done his part, it’s now time for the board to bring in players so we can keep pushing regardless of injuries/form/suspensions etc..
I don't think it's kai that needs to be replaced it's more about jesus and Martinelli having a forward that can play on left or right but can play beside kai in a 4-2-4, 4-4-1-1 or maybe a 5-2-3. formation however the way people think kai is not going to be long term goal score and myself I would still find that isak or gyokeres forward. Kai to me would fit on either wing close to the box and get in the box playing false winger sit back and close in for a goal, if needed I'd rather hace kai do some back up in midfield because partey seams to tired and not fit enough
No way Kai in midfield. He’s potent as a forward since Jan, 15 goals in 17 games. But yes a new striker to replace Eddie is needed and someone who we can swap with Kai to bring a different presence in different games. Gyokeres and Havertz will be dangerous maybe some games they can play together and we’ll see a different game altogether
