Matty I was a mid 90 golfer with an occasional 89. Since following your advice and channel I have broken 90 nine out of my last 10 rounds. The last few were 86, 85 twice and an 81. Before summer ends I am confident I will break 80 at least once. Thank you Mr Boom Boom.
@@GolfSidekicklast weekend i focused on the process the hole day and shot a casual 85 with a 38 on the back nine. First time breaking 40 felt effortless
21:17 “There’s a feather on the green I’m going to land it near…” I was excited to get to see you plant a feather for the first time in a long time. It’s selfish to only harvest birdies all day and not plant any. The birdie bank goes two ways Mr. Boom Boom.
Stunning round on a great looking course. It does help that you seem to have the course to yourself!. For all of us that spend 4 hours + waiting behind groups of 4 at the weekends it would be a dream to play this course. Keep up the great content as no one else is doing what you are.
After two months of nonstop watching your videos (33 handicap to about 24 and dropping), just hit 41 at a short course (2200 yards, par 34). My goal is to break 90 at the tougher courses in my area. 110% confidentiality!!!! Thanks for changing not just my golf game but my approach on life: easy game, easy life.
Thanks for all your videos, I’ve been watching a ton of them and my game has drastically improved. I started trying to break 100 from front tees 5 times then move back a tee box, rinse and repeat. I had done the front tees and moved back and immediately broke 100, then sucked for months. Thanks to a lesson, some range time, and a ton of your videos, I’ve broken 100 twice this week and the equivalent of breaking 90 from the tips on a par 3 course.
Thanks Matty for all the help, just shot an 84 after playing golf for 5 months now! I had 7 short game shots that I left on the table that will be there once I get better at toe down chipping for up and downs!
What an amazing round! This shows what you are fully capable of in your golf game. Thank you for these helpful tips and videos which have lowered my handicap by 8 strokes. You are the best golfer on youtube! Keep up the amazing work and content! Way of the Playa!
Seeing you hit driver more often and not get frustrated when the outcome isn't what you expect is making me feel a lot better. It's probably the weakest point in my game despite getting a lot of distance (more distance, more problems). Analyzing your shot patterns while you're playing, and not trying to make a bunch of swing changes in the middle of the round is the way to go. Now I just need to remember that while I'm actually out there.
Matty, you have just made my golf life come true confirming a "confidential" two clubs of mine. Bought an Inesis 500 Hybrid 3 Deg 20 (180m/196y) and an Inesis 100 4/5 Deg 22 (160m/174y). I am 62 and these are my go to clubs. Extremely light, easy to swing with no effort.
Matty your content is so great. To me the best if it comes to course management and playing strategy. Thank you for putting this together, we can learn so much from it. I even put your best advice down in writing to recall them 😄
I love the way you talk and present, when i do this on the course I hit better shots. I think it’s because it makes me smile and stops all my usual negative swing thoughts, go confidentiality. Thanks for making the vids
Scored my personal best (84) today at my home course. Actually forgot my driver at home and just hit 5 and 7 woods off the tee with a nice stock fade. Tried to avoid as many bunkers as possible and use toe down chipping, reading burn marks in the cup. Thank you for all your useful tips! Waddaplaya!
Big DECADE vibes going on here. Love to see the driver feasting & all these stats and aim point stuff going on. Going to rewatch this later when I can soak it all in
Not really. I use the shot pattern app with its 70 yard line and err toward 75 yards. I use a 90 degree triangle for my aiming. Gameforge golf is really the main inspiration behind this video though, not DECADE. All the shot cones and dispersion stats and benchmarks are from their public videos on RU-vid. Bob Rotella and Gameforge Golf are important influences for my putting, not DECADE the clunky stats app which focuses on not trying to make putts. Every putt is a green light putt, and putt to make it are from Dr Bob. Massive. DECADE is nothing new and nothing special. Dude thinks he invented golf like no one has ever figured out stuff in golf. All that information Steve Fauci talks about in his interviews comes from Pelz.
I love this. I am so into my golf at the moment that I know I can hit scratch. Its amazing how you get those moments when you drop 5 or even 10 shots in a month because of some fundamental that the 20 million teachers on youtube failed to convey. I like the fact that you have your game sorted out and are now analysing the metrics. I'm not there yet but I can see how it happens. I hope my marriage survives it. Great round by the way.... -4 really???? That's worth a mighty celebration.
I’m just getting back to golf but was never an avid player. Never thought golf could be relatively stress free by managing my best percentage shots around the course ignoring what guys think. Years ago I was a 17 handicap. Today 23.2 and moving down. Losing many shots by chipping badly. My goal by seasons end is to get my hc below 20 and better. Cant thank you enough! Confidentiality!
I just found your channel and love the vibes. I have just started golfing myself and feel as though you have a very welcoming outlook on golf. I appreciate all of the advice.
The tech used for this video is very impressive; I like your data of percentages and comments about your shot when you hit the green (or close to green).
Your knowledge of each club's shot shape - and the fact you hit that shape consistently - must give you so much confidence on each hole. That's my biggest issue right now... knowing if I'll hit my stock fader or pull it. I need this type of consistent ball striking to reach Matty Boom Boom levels of golf.
My man! How is it that there is never any other golfers on the course in your videos? I wish I could play at this pace. Great videos Matty Boom Boom, keep at it sir!
I love this guy, watched him for years, keep trying to find the video where he was mid round and went to the busting for the loo and was telling us about it, (must have been circa 3 years ago... lol) I'd love to see Peter Finch play this guy or Liam at @golfmates play Matty, (Rick S would wilt with the power and banter)
I play mostly niners so I aim to break 45, and I've done it twice so far this year, now I'm working on breaking 40. Using the ideas I get from Matty Boom Boom has REALLY helped.
I miss the birdie music, Matty. I miss the jazzy drums when you get in the zone. I miss that silky smooth saxophone when you make an easy par. And of course, that heavy metal riffage when you're about to bomb one off the teeski. Bring it back for us longtime boyfriends.
Aloha from Hawaii Matty! Love your content. Would love to see you speak about how the keys to your swing... you seem to have the "effortless distance" that is so elusive to a lot of us. Would love to hear "your take" on it. Cheers! (Mahalo!)
He's talked about it lots, get more distance as a byproduct of good strike. He hit ball good so ball go far. Also maybe the sun screen gives him power?
Just been playing since i was a kid If you played lots of sports like i did and have good bat and ball sense, should be easy. Maybe a technical flaw if the distance is not there but you’re a sports player. But if you pick up golf as an adult and don’t have hand eye coordination from other sports, can be tough. But hard work with a coach and increasing your confidence with new technique will improve distance
"Ok, not my best. I don't practice this shot that much, so it is clear, that is what I should be practicing." What a great way to move on without beating yourself up! I wish more golfers adopted that attitude, including me.
Matty, how far out do you feel comfortable doing toe down chipping? Noticed you did a 20 yarder on #14, for your third shot. Always, great video (I think this is the most I've ever seen you in a bunker) and great commentary.
I’m in the grow in phase with a putting green in my backyard. It’s been 90s and humid for weeks so it’s been trapping moisture. Guess what? I now have the same algae he’s describing. If you can see those blackish/dark areas in the video under the grass that’s 100% algae.
I know I don't have bewbs but, very interesting topic! I look forward to new videos from you! Nice 66. I look forward to your new series about you playing local tournaments to get into The Open.
If you have twenty yards of fairway the entire way up a 370m par 4, trees either side, parkland course, do you bang a 280y driver or a 220y “fairway finder” shorter club?
Depends on if you will be penalized with a drop or OB if you miss it. My home course in johannesburg, pretty much learned to hit a driver straighter for the longer holes, and accept a water ball. Or play fairway finder and scramble for a par. Depends on skill level. Is bogey a good score for that hole for your handicap? Then play for the bogey scramble a par with a fairway finder.
One thing that stuck out on this one was that both times you pulled the driver and almost put it back for the mini, but then said “oh well, lets see what happens with this” you pushed/sliced it and ended up in a bad spot.
You wouldn't do that on my course.........you haven't had one of those comments in a while and I guess you might be missing them. This is how I like to see you play, balls out for a low score instead of the 200 yard drive. I feel this kind of play is what helps me the most even though I'm 60 yards behind you off the tee.
On Bermuda, Zoysia, Paspallum and some bent grass strains create a grain. The grain is evident on the edge of the cups. There is a side which looks 'burned'. That is the way the grass is growing - toward the 'burned' looking edge. Usually it is also the way the hill is sloped so you can read the last 3-5 feet of the break of the putt. Almost always, it breaks toward that burned edge, If the burned edge is directly at the back of the cup, not on the sides, then it is a downgrain putt and it's fast. If the burned edge is on the front edge of the cup, not the back, it is a putt into the grain which is very slow.
@@marcthomas2333 no need to worry then. It’s usually on grainy grass like fescue or bermuda or paspalum Maybe on bent grass that you play on, you might see a brown section on the hole. The ball generally breaks toward that brown section.
The Lithuanian authorities have been notified of imposter Matty playing strokes gained bomb and garage. With that Baus putting you should be representing Lithuania in Paris right now!
I also avoid those fairway bunkers like they are the plague lol. We have a lot of sand at my home course and my golf partner is fairly close to me in skill level but according to Garmin I average 1.5 sand shots per round. I swear he is in the sand 6+ times per round. I told him to watch your channel to gain confidentiality but he hasn’t listened to me yet
matty what app do you use to plan your shots? with the GPS overview ??? with that 70 yd wide dispersion indicator?? cant find that any where , thank you!!!
Matt, again another great video. Knowing your shot dispersion % is something I never considered before looking at GameForge, I just used about 15 yards. The app you highlighted looks great, but looks like the set-up to get your club data takes too much work. How much work did you put into it?
Usually takes 15 min after a round. But I’m gonna go for trackman session tomorrow and use the trackman data by uploading a csv file into the app directly
Shot pattern is the titties for me because it is fun to input the information. Putting stats i keep myself with distances etc just to keep on top of make percentage
He's using Shot Pattern app. The only issue with this app is it doens't have distance to front, middle and back of green like others do BUT the Driver dispersion is excellent on this app.
Shot pattern. There is no issue with this app. I use it for shot tracking and planning my holes and rounds. I’m gona go do a trackperson session and upload the data into the app to have my full dispersion
I would love so much to see you play with some of the other youtubers, and not break character. You'd be hilarious with Grant, Rick, the Good Good guys, or even Not A Scratch Golfer
@@ianferrier3464 flying to australia, paying accommodation etc etc etc I am enjoying being based in one place for a while - just the nature of the game. Lots of things going on besides the RU-vid channel so it's not a priority for me to do low ROI things
@@GolfSidekick thanks for replying Bauss and I get that. I only discovered your channel after your trip to Scotland. Love what you do and insights you share!
Matty Boom Boom Whaddaplayazinksi, I listened to Incubus’s re-release of Morning View, had those songs in my head while playing 9 holes and shot my best of 46. Coincidence? I think not.
