Curious what Burstimo does for marketing music?
What Burstimo offers has changed over the years to utilize the most effective and modern approaches to music marketing.
Music marketing isn't just about breaking artists, but giving them the foundation of a high quality fan base and streams which allows them to grow exponentially.
Industry techniques such as Music PR and radio plugging are no longer effective in 2021, with the rise of social media and Spotify, Burstimo use a data-led approach to build fan bases who are likely to spread the word about an artist's music and spend money on live shows and merchandise.
Each year, we review the industry trends and form our own service which ensures we remain at the forefront of music marketing.
---------------- THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ----------------------
💻 WHO ARE WE?

Is “data led marketing” implemented through digital ads in social media? Is it about retargeting, warming fans, offering magnets, for free, email marketing? I adore your agency and videos! It’s just after this one I really don’t have an idea what’s it about, the major part of your work 😭🙏

There are a lot of variations and it changes every few months. Everywhere you go online you are tracked, whether it's websites, watching RU-vid videos, viewing TikTok content or engaging with an influencer on Instagram. All of this data can be collected or paid for access. We identify demographics of people who are actively looking to discover new music and have proven to do so by the content they have consumed. Then as mentioned in the video, we use that targeting to direct them to places we know they like to go to discover artists.

@@Burstimo I see, that’s very smart 👍 Thank you. So it is actually not available to artist’s team to do on their own, even if they do ads on google, RU-vid, FB, IG. Cause they would need that data that only promo companies like you guys can get access to. It’s not available to the public as I understand. We can target people who have expressed their interest in particular music on IG or FB but it’s not possible to combine them all and see who’s been discovering artists across all the platforms. Am I somewhere right? 🤓😉

@@hannahdanilova440 it is absolutely available to artist's teams to do on their own. A facebook pixel is owned by the facebook page owner i.e. usually the artist.
@Burstimo

@@hannahdanilova440 It is possible to do on your own, but probably not cost effective. A bit like building a house on your own just because you're staying there for one week on vacation, it's much easier to pay for a hotel room and share a building which has already been built. Some of it has been been collected from ourselves and others from third parties. Over time it has become a lot easier for us to just collect it ourselves than try to buy it in.

Depends on the distribution company you use to release your music on platforms. Most of them will have a royalty section where you collect your earnings and have it withdrawn to a paypal account or a direct bank deposit. However royalties are usually delayed by a couple months so dont expect to be paid right away! Hope this helps :)

Yep, they have their own ways of doing this too, we have a podcast coming soon on this. However, they don't always get the budget to do that for the smaller artists. Also by "labels", I mean smaller labels too and not just the big 3.

We need to like the music and see potential for growth. We also like to make sure the artist is the right personality fit for the team and their vision is aligned with ours in terms of what needs to be done in order to take their career to the next level.

I'm beginning to think that modern music marketing consists of an Unholy Trinity= #1. Gatekeepers, #2. Marketing Scammers. #3. Musicians. .....and Fans??? (fans of new independent music) are about as existent as a unicorn.
@robertojefferson3428
@robertojefferson3428 2 года назад
Honestly man it has always been this way. The "scams" have changed faces but seriously how can artists be artists if they have to spend all day playing on social media doing everything but making music lol

@@robertojefferson3428 Agreed....it sucks now, and back in the day. And Payola is still in play.... more than ever.
@robertojefferson3428
@robertojefferson3428 2 года назад
@@offtherealm5438 yeah. Listening to this lecture man it's truely the opposite of how people become fans of music. It's not about analytical data. Or converting listeners to super fans. You cannot sell someone into loving your music. There is truly only one way that is proven to grow fans whether in 1960 or today. They hear your music rotating. Then they hear more of your music and they love it. This is now and has always been the problem for independent artists. It is hard to be heard consistently. If you look at the algorithm of Spotify what it really says is that it shows preference to people that save and restream. What that really means is that it favors people they already know. This isn't to say it's hopeless but you need to have a hell of a story,hell of a budget, and hell of a strategy to make a dent. Does spamming people with Facebook adds, getting someone to hear a song once a playlist that may or not be real, and talking to anyone who listens to you once in social media and trying to "convert" then into super fans really sound like the formula for success? What's lost in all of this nonsense is the music.
@offtherealm5438
@offtherealm5438 2 года назад
@@robertojefferson3428 Yes....getting plays consistently you have to dish out Payola. In the 50s your manager had to pay off DJs and concert promoters. Yet, I'm still plodding along because creating my own music is all I ever wanted, What else can I do other than charging forward.
@robertojefferson3428
@robertojefferson3428 2 года назад
@@offtherealm5438 exactly. Only difference is that payola actually broke records. This Spotify bull crap isn't breaking records. Half the listeners are getting paid in gift cards. Some are bit farms. Even the legit ones have very low conversation rates from listen to save rates. People likely switch playlists and don't just play the same ones over and over. Not to mention directly paying these curators is against the policy so even if you pull off some results temporarily you could easily get banned lol For every independent artist claiming (labels are worthless)to be making tons of money theres literally a thousand losing hand over fist. The worse thing is that the artistic brain and the "business minded" brain don't operate off of the side of the brain. So the more artistic the individual they'll be much more likely to fall victim to scams because they've made a great product and just wanna be heard. When we turn all of our musicians into cunning cutthroat businessmen we end up with creativeless,soulless content topping the charts. Sounds about where we are. The funniest thing is that if the major labels are dead and independent artists are "ruling" like I've seen claimed than the indie/mid major labels that developed talent would actually have taken over. Instead they went nearly extinct. Interesting to think about
