It's time for a new camcorder and I think the AX700 is the way to go but need feedback please. I'm having a really tough time trying to figure out if any Sony model is worth the extra money versus the AX700. I don't need a handle and I don't need the SDI option. Everything seems to be built off the AX700 model whereas the grip setup of the HXR-NX80 doesn't seem to be worth the extra money, and I don't think the 5Ghz Wifi on the PXW-Z90 is worth the extra money (but as always I could be 100% wrong). I film live soccer games on a weekly basis, where the team then uses the film to breakdown and analyze the game. I typically set up the camcorder on a 10-20 foot tripod at center field. Image needs to be crisp, camcorder needs to adapt to cloudy and sunny days and night games under the lights, and on windy days the camera/tripod can shake a little regardless of the tripod being weighed or tethered down. Soccer can be quick paced at times and I need to be able to zoom when the ball/play is close to either end of the field. Any feedback/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I used to use the DJI air 2 but now I'm using the DJI air 3 for scout film, the only draw back is that you have no sound, however most coaches don't mind because you can see the entire defensive backfield.

What Prosumer video camera do you recommend for shooting Football and Baseball games?
@immaginevideo
@immaginevideo 2 года назад
Great question, and one that's so hard to answer. New models keep coming out which makes the landscape an ever-changing one. I can't say there's a "best" camera. It really comes down to what you like and are comfortable with using. That means conveniently located controls, a good weight if you ever have to go handheld, and maybe some features you can use if you do more than sports videography, I am mostly a Sony guy, so I lean that way when looking for a camera. But it really depends on your budget too. Most prosumer camera are going to be really good with sports videography, so it's hard to give you any particular camera that is heads and tails above the others.

So what is the make/model of the pro-consumer camera in this video? What shotgun mic, zoom, tripod? I don't wanna research for hours for a setup that is already proven

My gear is a little older. I use the Sony NX5U. The shotgun mic is what came with it. Tripod head is Manfrotto MVH500AH. The base - I don't have a model number but its the sturdy kind! Silver, metallic legs - not the black plastic. You can tell simply by the photo when shopping. Servo zoom control is not the one pictured; I use Sony RM-18P

I am diving in to this world for coaching & possible recruitment footage in the future. I feel like an elevated tripod & a 4k camcorder should do the trick. Am I wrong in this assessment? I'm not worried about sound, but need to make sure I can get footage in varying weather. What do you recommend to protect a camcorder in the weather? Great video!

Thanks for the comment. Rain covers are addressed in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fQXRvaerFf4.html There are certain covers that work with specific cameras, so you'll have to shop around or just call a camera dealer (like B&H) and have them suggest the correct one for your camera model. A 4K camcorder is really not necessary... is anyone going to watch in 4K? If so, then that's fine. If not, then all you're doing is creating a mammoth-size file that will be harder to work with. Finally... sound. When you say you're not worried about it, I hope that doesn't mean you're not getting any. You should be sure to have sound. Hope that helps and good luck!

If I need to zoom in during video edit for marketing purposes, what kind of camera do I need? When I use normal cameras it just become blurry when zoom in.
@immaginevideo
@immaginevideo 2 года назад
The higher the resolution, the more you can zoom in without blur. To that extent, shooting in 4K will allow you to zoom in a great deal. However, the file size may be unmanageable, and no one is watching in 4K anyway. Use a standard HD, 1920x1080 resolution camera, and don't plan on blowing the image up more than 5-7%. If you need to be tighter, shoot it that way in the first place.

@@immaginevideothoughts on using 4k two years later? Great video thanks!!
@immaginevideo
@immaginevideo 9 месяцев назад
I wouldn't. Who's watching it in 4K? If you're doing it for personal reasons, fine. But giving it to coaches to break down film? Don't do it. It's not worth the added file size, and most coaches don't have a way to watch it in 4K either. You can always downsize it to 1920x1080 I guess, so you keep a 4K master, but it still depends on what you're going to do with the footage in the future.

can i use a go pro hero 8 for this type of recording?
@immaginevideo
@immaginevideo Год назад
I would say no. You have very little control during a play to push in or widen out quickly for a long pass. Of course, you could simply set it up and pan left or right, but that wouldn't be a professional recording. It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish by filming the game.
