Me and my asawa were trapped in Bacolod during the start of the Covid 19 lockdown in March 2020. Hard to find any places to stay then because owners of homes were stranded in various provinces. Took us 3 month before Cebu Pacific had a relief flight back to Manila and lucky to get physical singed off. Overall it’s a nice town. Just one property manager was trying to rip us off on an electric sub meter wanting $200 more with no documentation. We never paid it. Great food deliveries. The city of smiles noted for great chicken. The ruins in Bacolod & hiking areas worth checking out.
thanks for the nice vlog paul. At one time, I had checked on the cost of condos in Bacolod, and was impressed on how affordable it is. However, I've since decided on Iloilo, due to the infrastructure, cleanliness, shops, traffic control, etc. I will look at Bacolod again, since it's just a stones throw away from Iloilo.
I ran into your channel. I was born in Bacolod City, raised in NYC and NJ😊. I believe expats know more about Bacolod City than I do. I didn't even know there was a golf course there. I know there's a stadium called Pana-ad Stadium. It's a big sports complex. There are also a dozen high-rise condos that are either complete or almost complete. Cheers!
i live in san carlos city a small town between Duma and Bacolod and the cost of living is amazing. 200 a month for a a nice 2 bd rm apartment. it is a special place soon to be overrun with people like your chat.
Thank you for the $1,550 budget (not including food:) from a fellow Canadian. I appreciate hearing budgets from couples since there are already many single person budgets out there and Im hoping not to be single for to long. Thanks again 😊
Bacolod City is a Highly Urbanized city of d Philippines comparable to Iloilo, Cagayan de oro, & Baguio city, which has lot of Amenities but still has a province Vibe!
You do a great job with all your videos. This is another location that I will have to visit before I settle on one spot. I always go to Google maps and get a reference to where these places are in relation to other places after the video is over. Having a screen shot of that might be helpful for your videos if not too much trouble added to your editing.
That's it...I'm going to Bacolod...thank you Paul. I will pay this place a visit very soon. I did not realize it is fairly big at about 1 million population. The beaches look fantastic as well. 27K P = $678 Canadian.
A Bonus to Bacolod City is the Availability of the Grab App For Rides or Food Delivery. Being that is a Smaller city, there is also very short or non existent wait times at Immigration.
Thanks for your video I’m an Australian and my wife is from Bacolod we also have a house in tangub it’s a safe area we haven’t had any safety issues. Bacolod is growing quickly there are lots of condominiums rising around the city also stores like Landers and S & R are opening soon which are great for foreigners. We wanted to be south of the city as we thought you have faster access to the best beaches and facilities we have a fresh food market in tangub and market days where local farmers bring their fresh fruits and vegetables
Hi Dan you are very close to me there I’m off Ramylu dv also unfortunately I’m back in Australia at the moment but I will be there at the end of April if you are still around
Paul - Thanks for your videos on various subject matter - I'm retired in Florida with my Filipino spouse. She a lifetime journalist, finally had our own publication company & you are right Filipinos are very focus, intellectual in all lifestyle including business. Very happy life keeping in mind "Happy Wife Happy Life" First time writing but watch your videos every day.... But my wife loves Florida and our retirement community. Hope to communicate back and forth....Take care Ed Leizens
Wonderful! Thanks Ed for taking the time to write. I just lived in Islamorada before moving to Dubai. Family in Hollywood. Nice place. Congratulations to your wife
@@PaulWorldZoom Thanks Paul for your quick response-- also have a brother in Hollywood- leaving for NYC in April to set-up wife Philippines SS. In your previous video help before going to Philippine bank (53rd & 5th) must stop at Embassy on 5th Ave to pickup "letter of intent" required by bank to set-up SS deposits. Just like a true journalist, she is doing all the research- I'm just the chauffeur.. Thanks again Ed
One thing I like about your videos is I don't see edits in your videos or there is so few you don't notice!! Some content providers edit so much it's hard to watch!!!
Thanks Paul, your videos are perfect for me. I am also a Calgarian and I was just there in Feb for a month. I decided to retire there in May. I am a former runner but through injuries I am now a cyclist. So far it seems that Iloilo and Baguio are best for cycling infrastructure. I also love golf but very limited now by above noted injuries. I am a passionate swimmer so the beaches are a draw. I am single, but I am coming over mainly to find a lovely single and kid free Filipina. LOL. 2 BR is plenty for me.
Another great video! I am retired for one year now and I've been watching all of the Philippines videos that I can planning an exploratory trip for possible retirement there. So far, most of the places that I've seen just haven't quite seemed to fit however I know that I really need to go there to see for myself. But from your description of Bacolod City it seems to be more of what I am looking for. I may need to go ahead and finally book a flight. One selfish request, do you think you could give prices in US dollars instead of pesos? You do pretty good converting but when I just hear pesos in a sentence I am not that quick to be able to convert it to dollars. Thanks a lot.
just arrived from bacolod that is two hours away from home having dinner there in SM mall and hanging around the mall for more than an hour before went home.. we often likewise back and fort to dumaguete which is four hours away distance from home to visit my three daughters students renting airbnb in Daro, we usually go to Robinsons also... in robinsons I can normally see a lot of expats left and right, like hundreds for an hour inside.. but in SM bacolod a while ago in contrast, I only noticed three expats in same time period.. both in ordenary days..
Bacolod has much more to do than Dumaguete. I wouldn't mind moving there but my GF has family here, but she does speak Illongo some . My family of 5 budget is 1,100 to 1,200 USD per month. If single I would budget 800 to 900 USD, not high class but not suffering.
Very good vid. Bacolod is growing by leaps and bounds since i was last year in 2012. There is an S&R going to built there soon. MEGA World and Ayala Mall are brand new. On a side note, the local school district has hired two teachers from Luzon. Portsmouth Va has hired 3 new teachers from Phililippines. There are many more filipino teachers being hired throughout Virginia. I reached out to one of the teachers and let her know she will have a new circle of filipino friends and she will npt be here all alone in a new country.
So nice of you. I’m happy to hear that Filipina are finally getting the respect and jobs they deserve. I worked with many in the hospital systems. They are great
@@PaulWorldZoom My favorite filipino friends is a filipina pediatric Dr from Quezon City. On a side note, Asia@Night can give you the low down on Bacolod.
Hey Dr. Zoom, I reached out to Mark from “every man has a story” channel requesting he attempt to interview you sometime. He is always looking for guys to interview and I believe you would be a good interview. He is at ground zero pretty regularly. He has 60k subscribers, so it could also help your numbers grow as well. Take care bud.
@@PaulWorldZoom He messaged me back and said for you to contact him if you are interested in being on his show. I believe his email is attached on the information section of his videos.
That's misinformation on the beaches. Sipalay has some decent beaches. About 4 hours south of Bacolod. It would be best if you spent the extra time to go to Bantayan Island. Sooooooo much nicer.
