Welcome to THE SEYCHELLES -- my 139th country!
This tiny African island nation in the middle of the Indian Ocean is most famous for its picture-perfect beaches and world-class resorts. But you all know what beaches and resorts look like... so I wanted to show you the opposite side of the Seychelles -- the local life -- which I came to realize is very minimal. The capital city (town) of Victoria has merely 25,000 people, making it the smallest capital in Africa and one of the smallest in the world.
The Seychelles is also VERY EXPENSIVE, so making this video was quite hard... But nonetheless, join me in my 15th episode of this series to see 'how much you can get with $10 USD' in the Seychelles.

P.S. -- This video was one of the hardest I've ever made. I nearly gave up, as it's been pouring rain all day and it happens to be a national holiday in the Seychelles, meaning almost everything is closed. Hi drew. I was born and raised in America but I'm Indian. In fact I'm traveling to India next week. I asked one of my relatives what is a vada exactly and they said it's a shallow/deep fried vegetable, mainly potatoes. It can also be other things. My grandma makes vada out of tapioca and it's REALLY good and tasty. You should try it!

Seychelles is a beautiful country. Both my parents were born there, with plenty of family over there. We went a few years ago, as a family holiday, and it was amazing. Tourists get charged a crap ton more than locals/citizen. We spoke the native language and showed passports since my parents were born there, with birth certificates and everything, we were allowed Seychelles passports. Everything is cheap and enjoyable. The beaches are phenomenal. No matter what time of the day you go, the water is always warm. The food, is delicious. You will never taste anything like it in the world, and the native animals. Like the tortoises, fish, bats, and parrot are wonders. We are going back in 2020, planning a 2 month stay. You need that amount of time, especially if you chose to visit all the islands, and enjoy all the local attractions.

As a Seychellois that's what bothers me the most. The fact that there is a massive Hindu temple in the centre of the capital when only a fraction of our citizens are Hindu. The capital is supposed to showcase the essence of Seychelles and Hinduism isn't part of it tbh. They could've built a temple anywhere but Victoria. Indian lobbyists in the country are messing with everything we got going for us and they've been flooding this country for the past few decades.

i went to seychelles on qatar airways to seen my aunty who married someone from there. i went there when it was summer it was sooooo hot!! and it was the best time of my life there, the beaches were beautiful like the one down the road from my auntys house and also beau vallon.

Welll i really think if you spend more time in the countryside it could have been more better me for being a Seychelles citizen i think you should visit the museum, rock pool in takamaka,the beautiful sunset at anse boileau, the amazing hotel all over idk if you still in Seychelles or not but next time try you will have an even amazing trip i promise 😊

Seychelles is not the place to visit spontaneously like this with only $10😂. Yes it's expensive here because we import almost everything, you have to plan your trip well so that you have money to spend on various activities, plus you should have looked up the dates because June is filled with public holidays. Usually the market (where you were buying things with the Indians) is bustling with people. For other people in the comment section, The Seychelles Islands is not another India, we may use the rupees or have many Indians living here but we're different. India is a close friend. Asians (Mostly the Chinese and Indians) came to Seychelles during the 1800s to establish businesses, they've even mixed with the locals (the Africans and Europeans) to create the Seychellois people. There's a monument in town, three fishes or birds (not sure) representing the ancestors of the present day Seychellois. One represents Asia, the other Africa and the third Europe. That's what makes us🤗🇸🇨

I found coconuts were more expensive in Seychelles than in London. It was sooooo expensive. I bought 3 tiny new potatoes in the "supermarket" for £3

Coconuts here are generally 5-10 rupees (that's about 30 pence). Perhaps you're referring to a drinking coconut bought off beach vendors on who totally rip off tourists. We buy potatoes here around 30 rupees per kilo so again not sure if you went to a 'tourist' shop. Having said all of that, of course Seychelles is expensive for anything imported (coconuts are NOT) but do always remember that the best things about Seychelles are free.
