They are pretty much the apple of coffee. You're paying a premium for a overpriced bland coffee. The only people who buy from Starbucks are trendies who have little value of money.
Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career, purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life
Actually it creates an issue where the people think they can take advantage of every foreigner because it’s just too successful which is really bad business practice and not something you WANT to spend you money on..pay someone who is honest not a scammer
@@danielrivera1833 most countries this is a known practice, many countries your charged more if your white even if your not a foreigner, America is lucky that it's illegal here but different people pay different prices, and on top of that it's so little it doesn't affect the guy at all
I visited vietnam almost 11 times since 2012, Just can’t stop loving vietnam 🇻🇳 whenever we plan holidays- vietnam is for sure in the list. Lots of love from 🇵🇰
the most expensive city in vietnam must be Da Nang, Nha Trang or Vung Tau, they r traveler city so the price u need to pay there will be the same or nearly the same with Italy, Uk or any other traveler country even in Europe, just like Vung Tau is a city for Russian (: im vietnamese)
Having lived in Hanoi for a while last year, Great video! however you kinda overpaid for food, eating in restaurants isn't really the move in Vietnam, Street food is the way to go, You can get a bowl of Phở or Bún Chả for around $1!!! It's cheap and is usually more fresh and tastes better than restaurants anyway...
Hà Nọi is being an ass. Fyi, they “charge”:whatever they “like”. Rule of thumbs when in HN: politely ask for their prices. If it does not meet your expectations, don’t spend your $. Move on to other eateries.
I've lived here for 3 years. We're fully aware we get overcharged for things. After a while you'll learn to not go with the first or second price, but unless the price is outrageous, we don't mind. It's a blessing to be able to live here, and helping the locals make a living and feed their families is worth the extra $1 or $2. You'll most likely never get the same price they charge each other, and that's okay. It's the name of the game.
You thought this comment was wholesome it wasn't. You should never even complain about prices as an American. Whether they ask you 1 dollar extra or 10 dollars extra.
Yes but Vietnamese people won't get pay the same either, and coutless of time bad foreigners scam local shop, in old quarter foreign scammers are much more than local scammers. If they got caugh redhand they will just say "you taste your own medicine, Viet people scam me money" 🤣 very funny 😂
Dinner in panama mountains was so cheap that I tipped $8 and the whole family came out of the kitchen and stood around my table and clapped, I over tipped everywhere I went after that. Lol
@Tami lee good but don't know how this works Because everywhere else everything way more expensive So wat happens if I go there and buy something like a ps4 or a cellphone?
@@Paghmani1sher ps4 slim 1TB mega pack 2 cost your 385,71 USD ( that it dont have discount) also a good cell phone have nearly same Price. The most expencive cell phone near 800 USD while the cheapest it nearly 30 USD i guess ( i dont count for a Nokia Brick Cellphone which only 99.000 VND = 4,24 USD...)
@@Paghmani1sher Economy class will probably teach you the reason, but in short, the reason why Vietnam has cheaper prices is due to the cheap production costs, taxes, etc. A PS4 Pro in Vietnam will probably cost you $300-400 max, cheaper in some stores. A cellphone, depending on which type will have different prices. I have a cheap smartphone that costs $100-125 and works for most of my needs.
Being a Vietnamese and watching this is such a nostalgic pleasure =)))) especially during this difficult time when Covid hits us af ://// i really missed seeing this amount of foreign tourists around Hanoi and Vietnam back in those good days. Hopefully soon, the vibe of tourism will come back here !
@@lorinmancy4552 really :))) thats soo cool, I hope you will have a good time here =))))) would you mind if I ask is it still possible for people to fly inbound Vietnam at the moment ? Because people can easily fly out of vietnam but to get back in requires some quarantines i guess !
$72 a night gets you the penthouse suite?! Sleeps 8 I think you said. So splitting the bill up with even just 4 or 5 people comes to about $15 each. Holy shit. and everyone seems very nice, The food looked good, decent scenery. Clean rooms and good service. Why has visiting Vietnam never came up in my mind before now? Thanks Brett for opening my mind to this concept. I may just have to go there someday soon.
Good advice or just agree passively. It’s not important anyway. It’s more important to earn more money in a trade year after year than find cheapest cities.
Kidnapped, serial killer, Psychopath with sound proof basement, crazy torturer, mentally unstable stalker, or Old school grandma in a predominantly poor old school Latino neighborhood.
Currently traveling in Vietnam. Just took a 7hr Luxury VIP bus with private cabin & TV for $20. Most delicious food for $1 to $4, and incredibly stays for
Depends when you go for Banh mi. Went at night and did not have a good experience in Saigon. Got some sausage that was sitting out in the sun all day and it did not sit well with my stomach. Other street food was fine for me.
@@Ali-uq7if it's not about that. They afraid of they possibly eating dog or other weird animal that not supposed to be human food. And also some rare animals.
rookies hahahahha did you see the way they cut the video. He was going to pressure them into buying something after accepting a drink with him careful out there kids
As a Vietnamese, there is a simple rule in traffic. We have one of the most chaotic road system in the world so when people gets in a small accident, they dont stop to check but stop to curse at each other. And whoever curse louder and faster, wins. And the other guy has to go away in shame
No what we mean is that restaurants and other locations hand out different menus to foreigners than they do natives, foreigners pay more for the same service in locations but don't complain as its still cheaper than what id comparable in their home country
@@TuanNguyen-bc1pe that beer would be about $2 a cup. So minimum 10 times higher. The price of room would be about $40-$60 a day if he does AirBNB in a dangerous poverty neighborhood. Also if some american said come to my home ... well the video wouldn't have been uploaded
@@alterzz2121 They are really nice. They seem like they haven't been corrupted like the western world. I had many interactions with language barrier issues and they were just really lovely people.
What foreigners think is "cheap" is actually not the cheapest price that you can get. Foods and services are often overpriced especially when you are travelling you often have a lot of money so you just ignore it. Of course it is still cheaper than other countries but as a local person I just feel very ashamed and hope foreigners pay attention on what you are buying so you dont get scammed.

I’m glad I stumbled on this. Investing has changed my perspective on how one can succeed in life. Working multiple jobs for money isn’t the optional way to attain financial freedom. Unfortunately, we find this out later in life. Great video.
My wife and I are retiring this year with over $6,000,000 in tax deferred investments. up until 3 years ago we were 100% in the S&P. During bear markets we had a perfect plan. We got an investment manager in our corner and didn’t look at our portfolio for nearly a year. Just kept buying at low prices
Yes, this things there was no really kind of art, was looking more cheap. And this room look kind of wealthy, nobody would put in his private room cheap stuff like this
Yeah, the Vietnamese are very friendly and will invite foreigners to their home for a meal and drinks. You see it all the time in the videos people show.
Great vids Brett. Im binging. You got ripped off though at $4.90 a night, i was paying $3 for a 6-bed dorm also included the same breakfast while teaching in Hanoi for a coupla months. Lol! Hanoi's street food is probably Vietnam's most expensive, Saigon's is a lot cheaper, and better. I thoroughly enjoyed my year and a half in Vietnam; look forward to going back.
Our coffee can be considered the best in world, and people get really creative with the coffee taste so yes, just go have some 20-25k VND which is around 1$
@@tphuonganhh856 as the Starbucks are very expensive for Vietnammeses, i ithink some people only want to show their richesse by having coffee there, on my Facebook i see very often photos of starbucks cup taking by my friends lol, It's like mcdonald's, they take photos whenever they go there
Been many times to many different parts of Vietnam. There are lots of special places but Hanoi has charm, a more temperate climate and traditional Vietnamese culture that is unique. Great vid! 👍
Traffic in vietnam is hectic and crazy but they don't go that fast. A taxi driver I had pulled out into the street without even looking and it was fine. I don't even know how to explain it. Hectic but slow and relatively safe. They would've easily been able to avoid him
@@safye4 yep, accident, especially fatal are mainly caused by drunks or heavy vehicles like bus and truck and in off hours. So less traffic usually means more accident here. Kinda weird, but you can't really hit anyone at high speed in a traffic jam so it makes sense.
You really can do it in Vietnam. As a Vietnamese, i will avoid anything on the street so dont be scared of crossing street. Walk nice and slow and we will avoid you (accept the drunk ones 🤣)
Yeah these kids don’t seem too bright to decide to go with that guy. Their inner alarm should have been going off, and they just threw caution to the wind, thinking nothing bad could happen to them. They will DEFINITELY pay for that one day if they continue to live so risky, not using critical thinking skills.
It's not about low prices, it's about good value for what we pay. I can show you many dishes in Cambodia cheaper than Vietnam, but none of them hold a candle to the quality we get in Vietnam.
totally agree. Let's compare, a Vietnamese bread with fried egg, cold meat, pate, vegetables, sauce... costs 20,000 ~ 25,000 vnd ( 1$ ). And a hamburger costs 4~5usd. Why should the same nutritious food have to choose the more expensive burger? And yes, I will choose bread. Left over 3$, enough for me to eat another bowl of pho and a cup of coffee.
Yes we are indeed very proud of our coffee. I tried Starbucks for like 4-5 times, and it was so bad, just tasteless almost like water with coffee powder. You can have much better coffee with 1/3 the price on the streets.
At 8:19...I can see how there would be backlash on the eating of dogs. People of other countries have to respect other countries' customs and cultures. I love a juicy steak as much as the next person...but remember that the cow is worshipped in India and eating beef is not unlike "eating your own mother". You could argue that person is justified for calling Americans savages.. It's all about perspective..
@@dylanoro9473 why it shouldn't be for other races not. Even American get treated good even they don't deserve it cause of the Vietnam war but look the Vietnamese from Vietnam don't have this evil mindset like you have. They are living Christian values often without being Christian
RennieBoi you can get yourself a bowl of some good street pho for about $1 and if you’re in the mood for something more mobile you can find a good banh mi sandwich and some coffee for another $1-$2
Man I'd love to go to Vietnam. My uncle went there in the late 60s. Granted he was kinda forced too and only really saw it from the air, but he said it was nice.
It is not a rosy place like all the videos play it to be. It is still 3rd world, dirty, noisy, dangerous to travel in, full of untrustworthy people who cheat you and not loyal. Life is still cheap here and buses and trucks don't care if they kill you to make a bit more money. Not like these videos play it to be all wonderful at all.
I've never been to Vietnam, but I am Vietnamese and grew up with the culture. Everything feels weirdly nostalgic. Also, thank you for respecting Vietnamese culture!! So many people consider the culture to be "dirty" and "unsophisticated" and it's great to hear someone appreciate everything
That hostel at the beginning is better and cleaner than most hostels that cost $20-$30 per night in Europe and the USA. I know because I backpacked across Europe for 4 months.
@@giavietanhnguyen8539 the reason why vietnamese hostels are better than the Western ones is because Vietnam gets plenty of tourists from western countries so they are trying to accommodate them.
Wherever you go, “Cheap country” is not the respectful phrase to use, the country may have low cost of living but it is not a cheap country. In fact the land renting or buying in Vietnam, especially in the central areas is not cheap at all.
I was in Vietnam during the worst of times (USMC 1967-'68). Despite the wrongful US invasion and war which killed millions of innocent people, I found the country and the people beautiful. We shouldn't have been there then, but now it's on my bucket list. Thanks for this great review of a wonderful country.
Check out Paddy Doyle's recent videos from there as well as Kinging-It (both are doing the Ha Giang Loop now). Flora and Note put out 2 amazing videos from Ninh Binh/Tam Coc while Sammy and Tommy are putting out beautiful videos.
The meeting with Binh seriously frightened me, it had nothing to do with the gentleman personally just from a NA perspective it's a shocking thing to do. I was a quarter sure you'd wake up in an icebath but he just wanted some company and to show off his art collection. I commend your openness and agreeability.
Aaah. Don't worry too much. Binh is not afraid of strangers coming to his house. Both parties are strangers to each other. Live a little. Enjoy a lot. Hehehe

They are probably earning way less than that. I live in Serbia, and i'd say you can live here with $4/h fairly comfortably, even tho 99% of the stuff is the same price as the rest of Europe. So i think they are getting under $1/h for most workers you see on streets.
